The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Fu Yu was hailing a cab while listening to the Wang father and son talking beside him.

The reason he paid attention to the Wang family was because he had a very good impression of Wang Zhanjie. Looking at Wang Zhanjie, it was as if he saw his own father.

Back then, when he dropped out of high school, his family couldn’t accept it at all. In the end, it was his dad who made the decision and agreed to his request.

He still remembers what his dad said to him: ”There are three hundred and sixty trades, every trade has its master. It doesn’t necessarily mean that only through studying can you find a way out. Studying is just to improve your personal qualities and enrich your knowledge. But if studying becomes a painful thing, then there’s really no need to study mechanically.”

”Since you want to learn cooking, then learn it well in the future. Once you master it, there’s a way out.”

It’s precisely because he had such an understanding father, willing to respect his personal wishes, that he now has a stable job and life.

And Wang Zhanjie’s educational approach to his son is very similar to his dad’s.

Fu Yu couldn’t help but take another look at the Wang father and son.

At this moment, a private car suddenly pulled up.

Fu Yu slightly frowned. He was just standing by the roadside trying to hail a cab, and this private car stopped right in front of him.

The car window of the passenger seat rolled down, and Li Linlin waved with a bright smile: ”Fu Yu! Where are you going? Hop in, I’ll give you a ride!”

Fu Yu was stunned for a moment and looked at Li Linlin with some surprise.

”Brother Li?”

Fu Yu hastily greeted him.

Li Linlin nodded with a smile: ”Are you going to your master’s place? Get in, I’m heading that way.”

Since it was on the way, Fu Yu cheerfully walked over, opened the car door, and sat in the passenger seat.

”From afar, it seemed like it was you. Who are those people beside you? Friends?”

Li Linlin craned his neck to look at where the Wang father and son were standing. Just then, a cab arrived, and the three of them got in one by one.

Fu Yu casually replied: ”Oh, just some customers dining at our restaurant. I happened to run into them, so I took an extra look.”

”Brother Li, where are you headed?”

He remembered Li Linlin’s place seemed a bit out of his way.

Li Linlin laughed and said: ”I’m planning to eat at Shangshi Private Kitchen. Don’t you go there every night to learn cooking now? It’s right on the way.”

Fu Yu got along well with Li Linfeng, but he wasn’t very familiar with Li Linlin.

Fortunately, Li Linlin was naturally friendly and chatted warmly with Fu Yu: ”Do you know what the menu is today at your restaurant? The menu changes every day. Dining there is like playing a blind box; it’s quite interesting.”

Fu Yu chuckled: ”It sure is. Every day when I go to learn cooking, I only find out what the menu is once at the restaurant.”

Mainly because he didn’t deliberately inquire in advance.

Liu Yunong typically only informed him if there were special dishes to prepare, suggesting he arrive earlier and mention the menu. Otherwise, he learned on the spot.

Li Linlin smiled, glanced at Fu Yu, and hesitated before saying: ”Xiaofu, could I consult you on something?”

”No problem.” Remembering the ambiguous atmosphere between Liu Yunong and Li Linfeng that evening, Fu Yu enthusiastically asked: ”Is it about selecting dishes for the evening meal? I can ask about today’s menu for you.”

”I wanted to ask... when did you meet Yunong?”

”Huh?” The gossip-loving part of Fu Yu instantly flared up: ”Didn’t my master mention it to you? I met her during the culinary competition in November. She was a judge, and during the event’s mentorship segment, she chose me as her apprentice.”

Li Linlin briefly imagined it and felt fortunate that Liu Yunong was a workaholic, uninterested in romantic matters.

He then asked: ”Does she go to the restaurant every day? The business there seems quite busy.”

”Yes, my master almost always goes, but usually in the afternoon. She’s really busy, managing this branch and other restaurants remotely; the business...”

Thanks to Li Linfeng, Fu Yu knew quite a bit about Li Linlin even though they weren’t very close.

Especially now, knowing that Li Linlin had intentions towards Liu Yunong, Fu Yu made sure to speak very thoroughly.

As soon as he started, he just kept talking, and Li Linlin listened with great interest.

Since graduation, he hadn’t had the chance to get close to Liu Yunong, with limited information coming only from occasional discussions in classmates’ groups.

He used to only watch TV programs featuring Liu Yunong or news online to keep up with her situation.

But now, being able to hear about her work and life directly from her apprentice felt refreshing.

Fu Yu shared all he knew and could say.

Through his relationship with Li Linfeng, Fu Yu was very knowledgeable about Li Linlin’s situation.

Young and capable, living a good lifestyle, and being upright and personable.

If he could really get together with Liu Yunong, they would match well besides the difference in family background.

Honestly speaking, there probably aren’t many who could match Liu Yunong’s family background.

”That’s right. Yunong always has a plan and clear goals. I thought she would develop her career abroad, but she unexpectedly returned from overseas...”

”My master said something happened at her home back then.”

Li Linlin nodded: ”Yes, I found out later. She had to support the store and take care of her sister alone. Those must have been hard days. She tends to act tough, changing her address and phone number, only reconnecting with old friends once her situation improved.”
