The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Having finalized the cooking sequence of the medicinal dishes, Fu Yu organized the ingredients and seasonings while pondering the specific operations during cooking and some detailed precautions.

The endocrinology dietary regimen includes very detailed cooking steps for each dish. However, because these are medicinal dishes, each one is accompanied by specific notes on its therapeutic effects and related efficacy.

Considering that the customer is there to dine and also has specific taste preferences, many issues need to be balanced.

Liu Shaoxian, looking at the customer information for the medicinal dishes reservations, frowned slightly, feeling puzzled inside.

Beauty medicinal dishes are common and typically focus on regulating qi and blood. He has prescribed them before, but... they are usually mild, nourishing medicinal dishes.

Yet the set of medicinal dishes prescribed by Fu Yu focuses on regulating the spleen and stomach, and in addition to that, there’s a medicinal dish for cough relief and phlegm elimination.

What does beautifying the skin have to do with relieving coughs and strengthening the spleen?

Isn’t it generally focused on regulating endocrine, nourishing blood, and boosting qi?

It might be somewhat effective to nourish the lungs and strengthen the spleen, but the emphasis on cough and phlegm seems a bit far-fetched, doesn’t it?

Liu Shaoxian carefully examined the medicinal recipes and reviewed the herbs used in these dishes, feeling somewhat perplexed.

He handed the recipe to Xiao Jiping and shared his thoughts.

Xiao Jiping also looked confused.

Preparing a medicinal dish for relieving cough and removing phlegm for customers who need beauty and nourishment... this is nonsense. If it’s for regulating the body, it might make sense, but the connection between cough relief and beauty seems off.

They didn’t know that Fu Yu had customized today’s medicinal recipes specifically for customers who came looking to beautify their skin.

After placing the necessary ingredients within easy reach, Fu Yu began cooking.

The first dish he made was Huai Mountain Codonopsis Quail Soup.

Excessive moisture can damage yang qi.

If moisture lingers in the organs and meridians, its heaviness and stickiness can impair spleen functions.

This can lead to spleen deficiency, causing tiredness and constant yawning.

It can also weaken the spleen qi, making stomach qi prone to rising inversely, leading to poor appetite.

This medicinal recipe was customized by Fu Yu for a high school teacher in the city.

The teacher, being a mental laborer, worries a lot about students, doesn’t rest well, frequently stays up late, and has suffered significant physical damage.

This teacher, introduced by an old customer, was a new visitor to the restaurant, and Fu Yu had a detailed conversation with her, gaining some understanding of her situation.

The Huai Mountain Codonopsis Quail Soup is intended to address these issues.

Perhaps due to being a teacher, she had quite a few requirements for medicinal dishes and asked particularly detailed questions.

Fu Yu simply recited the specific therapeutic instructions for this dish as mentioned in the endocrine dietary regimen.

The high school teacher initially listened to Fu Yu’s introduction of the medicinal dishes’ efficacy with skepticism, but when Fu Yu mentioned that the ”Famous Physician’s Record” recognizes Huai Mountain for ”treating deficiency and emaciation, replenishing the five organs, and eliminating irritability and heat.”

Moreover, the ”Correct Interpretation of Herbal Medicine” claims Codonopsis ”strengthens the spleen without being dry and nourishes the stomach’s yin without being moist.”

And quail is referred to as ”animal ginseng.”

When combined into soup, it strengthens the spleen, assists yang, harmonizes the stomach, and removes irritability.

The high school teacher’s attitude immediately changed, and she looked at Fu Yu with a different gaze.

She didn’t expect this young chef to actually understand herbal medicine and sound very well-read and professional.

With this first impression, the subsequent customization of medicinal dishes went very smoothly.

Actually, the other medicinal dish for cough relief and phlegm elimination was also customized for this high school teacher because she was financially well-off and trusted him, willing to heed his arrangements. Fu Yu was more than happy to put in extra effort.

The Huai Mountain and Codonopsis were taken directly from the pharmacy, already soaked, and Fu Yu simply rinsed them briefly before starting to prepare the quail.

He used to do this often and was very proficient at it.

The quails prepared at the music restaurant were quite large, and Fu Yu grabbed one directly from the cage, tied its legs with a string, found a large enough basin, filled it with cold water to cover the quail, and let it drown in the water.

Watching Fu Yu not cut the neck to bleed it out but instead drown the quail, Liu Shaoxian and Xiao Jiping exchanged glances!

Both were taken aback!

Wasn’t it supposed to be processed like a chicken?

Generally, for poultry like this, the neck is cut to bleed it out, then scalded to remove the feathers and innards, which makes the meat taste better.

However, Fu Yu didn’t do this!

Liu Yunong and Yao Shi remained unfazed.

Both leaned forward to watch Fu Yu’s operation.

Yao Shi noticed the method Fu Yu used to tie the quail’s legs with a string.

It was special, and while it looked simple, it involved some cleverness, like the wrapping style and knotting technique, which was quite novel.

Yao Shi discreetly glanced at Liu Yunong beside him; this technique from Fu Yu should have been learned from Liu Yunong, right?

Liu Yunong focused on Fu Yu’s timing when using water to drown the quail.

Actually, in her view, the time seemed a bit short.

Normally, it would take at least 2 minutes, but Fu Yu took the quail out after about a minute and a half.

And after taking out the quail, Fu Yu didn’t take the time to check if it was thoroughly drowned but instead immediately put the quail into prepared boiling water, deftly plucked the feathers clean, and then gutted it.
