The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Fu Yu chuckled awkwardly, ”Don’t worry, if I become my master’s brother-in-law, I’ve definitely got your back in the future.”

Zhao Meng gave Fu Yu a slap on the head, ”You kid, say you’re fat, and you’re really breathing like one!”

Fu Yu laughed twice, noticing Zhao Meng’s concerned look towards him, the care in his eyes undetected.

So he took the initiative to confess, ”I really didn’t know about this before. She never mentioned it to me, and my master also never let slip even a bit of it.”

Zhao Meng frowned, a bit uneasy, ”What are they...”

How is it when dating, they still keep things under wraps...

If it were anyone else, given Zhao Meng’s experience, he could surely understand this situation.

The family business under the Liu Sisters isn’t small!

And there’s no elder in the family who can make decisions.

You shouldn’t show your wealth easily, everyone understands that principle.

Especially Fu Yu and Liu Yuqing, it’s indeed a bit of a mismatch in terms of background.

Fu Yu is just a laborer from a small county.

Now though he’s managed to buy a house, he still has mortgage payments.

Lacks family background and connections, anyone else would probably be uneasy, would test him to see if he can be relied on.

But if it were Fu Yu, Zhao Meng would feel somewhat uncomfortable inside.

So what if he’s poor?

So what if he lacks power?

Thirty years on the east side of the river, thirty years on the west side, don’t underestimate a young man who’s poor!

With Fu Yu’s talent and culinary skills, he has a bright future ahead!

Money and such external things, eventually, he’ll earn them.

Besides, the guy is good-looking, well-built, with a pleasant personality and good character.

Such a good person is hard to find!

What’s there to test?

It’s really shortsighted!

But if you say it’s shortsighted, Liu Yunong took the initiative to accept Fu Yu as a disciple, clearly training him as an heir!

Though not explicitly stated, such words indicate satisfaction and recognition of Fu Yu.

Thinking this way, Zhao Meng’s mood calmed down.

Truthfully speaking, discovering the matter of the Liu Sisters was due to Liu Yunong inviting him to a meal earlier.

Zhao Meng had always felt Liu Yunong looked familiar, like he’d seen her somewhere before.

He mentioned it casually to Yao Shi, only then did he realize that Liu Yuqing from their store’s cashier was Liu Yunong’s younger sister.

Real sisters, so of course they look alike!

Knowing this, Zhao Meng couldn’t help but ponder.

Surely Fu Yu didn’t know, otherwise he would have told him.

Since Fu Yu didn’t know, it must have been the Liu Sisters conspiring to keep Fu Yu in the dark.

Zhao Meng felt a bit uncomfortable about this.

Who’s looking down on whom!

But despite the discomfort, Zhao Meng ultimately remained rational, analyzing everything back and forth, and understood.

Liu Yuqing got into the store through connections with Yao Shi as a parachuted employee.

Not wanting to flaunt her family background is understandable.

Later meeting Fu Yu, and hearing that Fu Yu was learning cooking from Liu Yunong, there probably wasn’t an opportunity to mention it.

But understanding is one thing, Zhao Meng always felt the sisters didn’t handle things properly, so today he specifically gave Fu Yu a heads-up.

This naive kid really didn’t notice anything.

Seeing Fu Yu’s carefree expression, Zhao Meng suddenly thought of an old saying: ”Fools have their own fortune.”

Having given him the necessary reminders, Zhao Meng didn’t want to gossip endlessly about this.

Though Fu Yu seemed gentle and innocent on the outside, inside he was actually quite wise.

He didn’t know anything before and still managed to win over the sisters, now knowing, there’s even less to worry about.

Zhao Meng naturally shifted the topic, asking, ”You’re going to the music restaurant after the New Year, right?”

Fu Yu sighed, ”I’ve been too busy lately. I still have to learn cooking from my master whenever I can, and they always deny leave at our store. Last time I went, I finished preparing the medicinal dishes for the customers, those who could dine in, had their last meal before the New Year, and for those who couldn’t, I made some additional medicinal dishes that could be stored and used at home.”

”When I went to the sales office yesterday, I called Chef Yao. We chatted briefly and mentioned this matter. Chef Yao suggested I go there only after the fifteenth day of the New Year. In future festive days like these, I won’t need to go there.”

Hearing Fu Yu bring up the house matter, Zhao Meng became very interested and asked, ”With the subsidy money, the renovation fund is enough now, right? If it’s not, let me know, I can contribute a bit.”

Upon hearing this, Fu Yu immediately smiled and declined Zhao Meng’s kindness, ”I’ve got enough money! I saved a bit when buying the house, and got a subsidy for renovations, so money isn’t a concern now. When the house is done, just come over with Sister Dai and Bao’Er to warm the house.”

Zhao Meng nodded, considered for a moment, and couldn’t help but advise, ”Fu Yu, I know you’re always on top of things, but don’t be too eager about making money. You’re still young, in a stage of career development. Everything needs to be taken slowly; money is endless and never enough. You’re still young; there’s no need to overburden yourself. When you reach our age, you’ll surely have endless money to spend.”

”I mean it seriously! Right now I have a house, a car, savings, and Bao’Er is just starting kindergarten, not yet at the point where serious spending is required. If you need help, don’t hesitate, alright?”
