The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

At the banquet table, Liu Yunong took charge of three newly added dishes, while the rest were left to Liu Zhangpeng.

Just as Wang Yulong trusted Liu Zhangpeng’s culinary skills, Liu Yunong had high hopes too.

After all, Liu Zhangpeng was a very experienced head chef, having performed outstandingly well when he was at the flagship store.

Liu Yunong intended to use Kang Guijie’s ordering event as a special case to conduct a teaching session for the kitchen staff.

Observing customers’ dining experiences to understand their dietary preferences is not very common for the kitchen staff at the restaurant.

Most customers come in, choose their favorite dishes from the menu, and express their dietary preferences proactively.

Therefore, Liu Yunong didn’t intend to force everyone to master this practice but hoped that through this event, she could indirectly prompt the staff in the kitchen.

To make them more proactive in their work and more attentive to the customers’ dietary preferences.

Let’s consider it a verbal training.

...

Wang Yulong managed the customer orders at the restaurant with the help of the assistants, handling all orders during this time, causing great stress on the assistants.

Meanwhile, Liu Zhangpeng was busy with three dishes and a soup in his hands.

Liu Zhangpeng was a bit nervous!

In the past, it was about cooking for regular customers coming into the store, who had limited tasting abilities, and the dishes at their restaurant were inherently delicious. He had memorized the cooking techniques by heart.

In other words, after making the dish several times, he could cook it with his eyes closed.

But this time, it was for the experts within the circle.

Anyone would panic in this situation.

Moreover, the dishes prepared were the restaurant’s secret recipes, which equates to showcasing his culinary specialties!

Thinking of this, Liu Zhangpeng couldn’t help but take a deep breath.

Make sure not to mess up...

Especially with the mentor around, the assistants he worked with daily... the most crucial being, the boss is right there watching.

If something goes wrong... it would be a disaster.

He shook his head and began to cook carefully.

It must be said, Liu Zhangpeng, with over twenty years of rich cooking experience, was very skilled in the cooking techniques for the restaurant’s signature dishes, and he quickly completed the three dishes and a soup, which were then delivered to the private room in the front hall by the servers.

Although he completed his assigned tasks.

But!

His mind was not at ease, he was even more anxious.

Because it was for Kang Guijie to taste!

It was practically the same as participating in a chef competition, presenting dishes for the judges to evaluate.

Liu Zhangpeng was flustered, carefully replaying his previous actions, checking for any mistakes.

Ingredients, portions, seasoning ratios, temperature control, plating presentation.

When busy, he sometimes glossed over a bit.

But what he considered glossing over, to outsiders, still seemed great, at least the taste wasn’t something detectable.

Today, however, he was on pins and needles, taking every step exceptionally carefully.

Even the melon slices in the plating needed to be delicately carved and slowly refined.

He also remembered Liu Yunong’s specific instructions regarding Kang Guijie’s dietary preferences, ensuring all restrictions were accurately eliminated.

He should win Kang Guijie’s approval, right?

At this thought, Liu Zhangpeng’s eyes lit up. After all, having the opportunity to serve a big name in the industry was a rare opportunity.

If by any chance, Kang Guijie finds it satisfying and wants to meet the chef...

He couldn’t help but fantasize a bit.

This made him somewhat distracted, constantly wondering about the dishes sent to the front hall, pondering over what kind of evaluation they would receive and Kang Guijie’s reaction after tasting them.

He idly thought, unable to help glancing at Liu Yunong.

Liu Yunong had already completed the three dishes she took over and was now busy cooking the main course, steamed meat cake.

A very substantial dish, simple meat paired with simple eggs, extremely delicious!

This dish was a genuine court cuisine.

In those years, Lady Liu herself had cooked this dish.

The ancient family codex records the cooking method for this main dish; the paper was yellowing and fragile.

When reading it, they used a copied version, while the original ancient book was kept in the ancestral hall.

Yes, exactly!

The Liu Family truly has profound family heritage.

They have their ancestral hall.

And properly preserved, a family genealogy passed down through the generations.

Liu Yunong has always been proud to be a descendant of the Liu Family.

Therefore, whenever she encounters a situation that requires entertaining guests, she often displays a piece of the ancestral secret dishes.

On one hand, it shows her importance to the other party, assuring a well-intended reception.

On the other hand, it serves as a form of promotion.

After all, no matter how delicious and skillful the family’s ancestral recipes are, they need to be known by others.

Word of mouth helps expand the coverage.

Liu Yunong has always excelled in this aspect of business.

She picked up an egg, cracked it into a bowl, and whisked it.

Adding minced meat, salt, sugar, wine, Jiang Mo, and wet starch to blend thoroughly, then poured it into a square mold and smoothed it out.

Steamed on high heat in a steamer.

The most challenging part of cooking this main dish is in the preparation of the minced meat.

The Liu Family’s secret recipe for mixing the meat filling includes a universal mantra; as long as you follow it, the minced meat prepared is guaranteed to be fragrant and delicious, not fishy or dry.

Three parts fat to seven parts lean.

According to this ratio, the texture of the minced meat is optimal.

Any more fat and it’s greasy; any less, and it’s dry.
