The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

At this moment, what she was focusing on wasn’t the fact that Liu Yuqing’s mobile payment wasn’t enough to buy a bed.

It was about why they needed to buy a bed in the first place?

They weren’t lacking one.

If it wasn’t for their own use, then what was it for?

Could it be meant as a gift for someone?

Who would it be for?

Or is it because Liu Yuqing has grown up, started working, and doesn’t want to live with her anymore, planning to rent another apartment?

Otherwise, how could you explain her randomly deciding to buy a bed?

At this thought, Liu Yunong couldn’t help but reflect inwardly.

Was she too strict with her sister usually?

Or was she not good enough to her sister?

Or did she do something her sister didn’t like?

But... they’ve lived together for so many years, it surely wasn’t because of her.

Then...

Could it be she really plans to buy a bed as a gift?

Do friends usually gift each other beds?

And it all happened after she met with Fu Yu.

Liu Yunong’s mind brought up the handsome face of Fu Yu.

Could it be she was planning to give it to Fu Yu?

Thinking about it like this, it all made sense.

A bed worth over ten million, for someone like Fu Yu, it would indeed be a bit extravagant to buy.

And previously, Fu Yu mentioned that Qianlima had bought the neighboring Dayu Mall, and they were connecting and renovating the two sides, expanding and rebuilding employee dorms.

What the hell!

Liu Yunong suddenly felt an itch on her heel, wanting to kick someone.

This damn kid!

No money, no career!

Don’t you know what it means to first establish a career then start a family?

Didn’t even save up the capital, and already hooked her sister away!

And that’s not even the worst!

Her sister is such a good girl,

doesn’t she deserve someone who would give her everything she wants?

But... this brat!

He’s going too far!

Nothing has even happened yet, and he’s already thinking of taking money from her sister.

Even needs her sister to pay for the bed!

If they end up together and get married, who knows how much her sister will be mistreated!

Liu Yunong’s current feeling was like someone was reaching into her pocket to take money.

And not just taking money, but even trying to steal her treasure and claim it as their own.

The more Liu Yunong thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt, with a slightly sour mix of indignation and frustration.

She felt really unsettled inside.

However, despite the storm of emotions churning inside, Liu Yunong asked with apparent concern: ”Xiaoqing, what bed are you talking about? Did you go to the furniture store today?”

Liu Yuqing responded truthfully: ”I went to the Big World today with a friend, there’s a bed, really good, not only is the frame made of white pine wood, but the mattress is also made of horsehair... I fell in love with it at first sight and really liked it, wanted to buy! But, the bed is a bit expensive, priced at 140,000, the salesperson said there’s an event before the end of the year, and they’re offering a 5% discount.”

”It was quite a coincidence, then I met a classmate, the one I mentioned to you before, Wang Kangxu, this store is his agency’s, and he said he could give me the wholesale price, at 108,000.”

Liu Yunong thought for a moment, then remembered that this Wang Kangxu seemed to be Liu Yuqing’s schoolmate. They weren’t very close.

This is probably Fu Yu wanting to buy a bed and Liu Yuqing just happened to know someone, thought since it could be cheaper, might as well buy it directly.

So it was because of this!

”Is that so? Well, that’s great! Are you planning to advance the money for your friend?”

Liu Yuqing hurriedly pleaded: ”Yes, Wang Kangxu said there’s only one bed left, I’m afraid someone else would buy it first, so I plan to reserve it in advance.”

”Sis, transfer me 120,000 first, I spent money on a bag last week and I’m short on cash right now.”

Liu Yunong couldn’t really tell if she felt relieved or if her heart was still anxious.

But it’s just a mere hundred thousand, if she wants to spend it, then spend it.

It’s not like their family would be troubled over such a small amount.

Liu Yunong smiled and said: ”Alright, I’ll transfer it to you right now!”

Liu Yuqing, feeling relieved, thought that as long as she had the money, buying the bed wouldn’t be a problem anymore.

Liu Yunong was always efficient in getting things done.

After hanging up the call, she immediately transferred the money to Liu Yuqing.

Upon receiving the money, Liu Yuqing, knowing she could soon purchase the bed, felt much better.

But she was a bit worried about Fu Yu.

She was afraid that Fu Yu might borrow money around just to buy the bed.

If that happened, then getting money from here would be pointless.

Thinking about it, Liu Yuqing hurriedly ran back to the furniture store.

...

Meanwhile, with Fu Yu, the phone rang for a while before Zhao Meng picked it up.

At this time, Zhao Meng was busy tossing a wok, and a junior assistant was holding the phone to his ear for him.

”Hello? What’s up?”

Fu Yu was off today, so suddenly calling at this hour likely meant something was up.

If it was not a nagging thought, Zhao Meng certainly wouldn’t pick up at this time.

And while Zhao Meng was on the call, the nearby junior assistant, Cui Chengze, kept holding the phone steadily for him.

Everyone in the kitchen knew that Zhao Meng rarely took calls while cooking.

And if the caller really had something urgent, they would call repeatedly.

If ignored once and it rang continuously, Zhao Meng could determine that it was urgent.

But with Fu Yu’s call, it just rang once, and Cui Chengze watched Zhao Meng take a look at the caller ID and then told him to answer the phone.

He thought to himself, if it wasn’t Dai Li calling, Zhao Meng wouldn’t break his own rule so easily.

To his surprise, when he picked up the phone, it was actually Fu Yu calling.

Cui Chengze quickly answered the call, and held it to Zhao Meng’s ear, feeling secretly sentimental inside.

Same people, different fate.

He and Fu Yu were both hired in the same batch for the Qianlima kitchen, but Fu Yu quickly ended up under Zhao Meng’s tutelage, later smoothly becoming a full-fledged staff member.

While he himself had been hanging on until now, finally getting a chance to help Zhao Meng.

Who knows how long until he can actually get his hands on the main wok?

However, soon enough, Cui Chengze’s attention returned to Zhao Meng.

”Calling suddenly, is there something going on?”

Zhao Meng, who had been worried, asked more directly.

Fu Yu straightforwardly said: ”Chef Zhao, I found a bed I like, mind if I store it at your place first? My new apartment isn’t finished yet, can’t move the bed in.”

Upon hearing this, Zhao Meng let out a breath of relief, thinking it wasn’t anything serious.

So he laughed and said: ”Sure, go ahead with it.”

His place was mostly empty anyway.

Right now, he was living with Dai Li over there, and rarely used this one.

After lending it to Fu Yu last time, he never bothered to retrieve the key.

At this point, Zhao Meng casually asked: ”You went to the furniture store today?”

Fu Yu replied truthfully: ”Yeah, here at the Big World, initially planned to inquire about the renovation stuff, but happened upon a nice bed, thought I might as well make the purchase.”

After hearing this, Zhao Meng told Fu Yu: ”Okay, I’m busy here, once you decide, just send it over.”

Fu Yu, having received Zhao Meng’s permission, thanked him with a laugh and hung up the phone.

...

In the furniture store, Wang Kangxu thought about how Liu Yuqing and Fu Yu looked disappointed earlier, and he felt a thrill of satisfaction inside.

In the end, you still need money.

Aren’t you into the food industry?

Then I’ll set up a catering delivery department, seems like it should fit the criteria, right?

Thinking this, Wang Kangxu couldn’t help but feel quite pleased with himself.

”Take the label off this bed for now, and put it back in storage, we’re not selling it anymore.”

The sales assistant was immediately surprised: ”Boss, really not selling?”

Wang Kangxu waved his hand: ”Not selling.”

Why should I let others benefit?

Isn’t Fu Yu interested in this bed?

I’m just not going to let him have his way!

After giving these instructions, Wang Kangxu couldn’t help but head towards the door, wanting to see if Liu Yuqing came back.

Just as he stepped out of the store, he saw Fu Yu coming after finishing his call.

Facing Fu Yu, Wang Kangxu couldn’t help but smile: ”Mr. Fu, so have you decided whether or not to buy this bed?”

”Honestly, at 118,000, that’s not even as expensive as a watch.”

”After all, it’s a big piece!”
