The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Liu Yuqing sincerely considered Fu Yu’s situation when she spoke.

After all, they’re both wage earners, with fixed annual salaries.

Renting a place in Bei’an is quite expensive, and if they spend money on renovations, they’d likely be exhausting their savings.

Fu Yu has to cook many dishes in the kitchen every day, which is really exhausting.

While outsiders may not know this, Liu Yuqing sees it with her own eyes, watching Fu Yu spin around like a top, never having a moment of rest from morning to night, which makes Liu Yuqing feel quite guilty.

Moreover, her relationship with Fu Yu is different now as well.

If things go well between them, in a couple of years when the time comes... she could totally use her current apartment as their new home.

After all, her sister has to go to another city to open a branch, and the property there will be purchased.

She only needs to keep this apartment, and her sister would certainly agree without a second thought.

By then, she could help manage the Bei’an branch this way, and she and Fu Yu could earn money together, and have a good life.

Once she can earn more, Fu Yu wouldn’t have to work so hard.

Thinking of this, Liu Yuqing couldn’t help but blush.

While listening to Liu Yuqing talk, Fu Yu placed a piece of grilled cod on the plate in front of her with tongs.

He felt that being with Liu Yuqing should be like this, a kind of indescribable harmony.

From the first meeting, he found her to be his type.

After three months of being together, working together, and exchanging ideas, they effortlessly clicked, and became friends.

Liu Yuqing picked up the cod and took a bite.

Initially, when Fu Yu picked dishes for her, she would somewhat refuse, but now she accepts the gesture quite naturally.

Earlier, Liu Yuqing was busy thinking and didn’t really have the appetite to eat.

But now that her thoughts were clear, she felt hungry.

Good food always has a way of lifting one’s spirits.

Liu Yuqing said, ”That designer just now was desperately recommending that set of modular cabinets, guess why?”

”Why?”

”I initially thought it was because the style was new, and matched the overall layout well. But later, I realized, it was because he found out you often cook, so he specifically recommended this model.”

”He thinks since you often cook, you’d have high requirements for the cabinets, and this set is really good, but it’s also the most expensive among the same type! However, that off-white cabinet set has functions similar to this one. Although it’s not a new model this year, it’s very well-designed and not inferior.”

”Most importantly, this one is cheaper, saving nearly five thousand bucks!”

Fu Yu laughed, ”Not bad, Xiaoqing, you really know your stuff when it comes to renovation! You’ve saved me a significant amount, should I praise you?”

Liu Yuqing said nothing, just grinned quietly, her cheeks flushing.

Fu Yu smiled and placed another piece of grilled rib for Liu Yuqing, ”Here’s five thousand bucks, Xiaoqing, tell me, what kind of reward do you want?”

Liu Yuqing didn’t speak, instead, she quietly gnawed on the rib, finished, poured a beer for Fu Yu, clinked glasses, and downed half of it in one go.

Fu Yu looked at Liu Yuqing, and with a gentle tone he said softly, ”By the way, didn’t you say you like Japanese food? Let’s go have some one day.”

He’d been wanting to bring it up.

Today while eating, he thought Liu Yuqing would choose a Japanese restaurant, but she picked a BBQ place instead.

Liu Yuqing looked down, expressionless, and picked a piece of cod with her chopsticks, ”Didn’t I just invite you today? Just this meal, I won’t rip you off.”

Liu Yuqing eats gracefully, no sound no matter what she eats, and instead of taking small bites, she chews in large mouthfuls, making it very appetizing and showing her great taste in food.

Fu Yu watched Liu Yuqing eat, ”You really don’t want to eat Japanese food?”

Liu Yuqing grunted impatiently, ”I really don’t want to! ... Why suddenly generous?”

Fu Yu understood Liu Yuqing’s thoughts, she wanted to save money for him after checking the renovation pricing.

She didn’t know about his side gig working at a music restaurant.

In Liu Yuqing’s mind, he was probably just an ordinary chef.

Making that small salary from the restaurant.

Managing to take care of himself is good enough; now he has to renovate a house, and under normal circumstances, he should be strapped for cash, draining his savings.

Thinking of this, Fu Yu felt a strong warmth inside.

There’s an old saying, ”Once you’ve eaten someone’s food, your mouth feels short, and once you’ve taken someone’s hand, it feels short too.”

After eating the BBQ with Fu Yu, Liu Yuqing felt reinvigorated and actively offered to accompany Fu Yu to look at home supplies.

With a rental, they can be less meticulous about the decoration, but life essentials shouldn’t be skimped on.

Especially considering Fu Yu’s demanding and physically active job, the bed he sleeps on mustn’t be too crude.

A few of the highly-rated big brand beds are like the one her sister specially brought from the capital for her new apartment, costing just over 50,000 including mattress and bed frame.

It’s indeed very comfortable to sleep on.

If they could get Fu Yu the same kind of bed, that would be great.

But obviously it’s not realistic!

Especially since the apartment is rented, if they ever move, you usually hear about moving appliances, but hardly anyone hauls a bed away.

As a result, a bed bought for tens of thousands would just become part of the landlord’s property.

It’s just not worth it, considering it.

But... in this case, they can only temporarily buy a cheaper bed to cope with.

How uncomfortable would that be?
