The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Walking around the new house, Fu Yu took a cab to a renovation company in the same neighborhood that a helpful neighbor highly recommended.

Upon hearing that Fu Yu wanted to consult about renovating the new house, an enthusiastic and experienced staff member immediately came up to him and took him to the guest room.

Fu Yu’s requirements were very simple: to make the most of everything, ensuring that the new house’s layout is perfectly utilized, and as for the renovation style, clean, tidy, and a bit cozy would suffice.

He didn’t have any particularly special requests; it’s mainly for his own comfort.

After expressing his needs clearly, reviewing popular renovation designs, and thoroughly listening to the designer’s general suggestions, Fu Yu finally had a rough idea of the renovation.

However, faced with the staff’s detailed and thoughtful sales pitch, Fu Yu still decided to leave.

After all, it’s wise to shop around.

There were many renovation companies in the area; Fu Yu wasn’t about to make a decision right after checking out the first one.

He was planning to explore nearby options and consult further when his phone suddenly rang.

When he saw clearly who was calling, Fu Yu was a bit surprised.

It was a call from Liu Yuqing.

He had left home early today, and it was just around eleven o’clock.

The store should be busy at this time, and he wondered why Liu Yuqing was suddenly reaching out to him.

Fu Yu quickly answered the phone, ”Hello? Need something from me?”

”Can’t I call without a reason?” Liu Yuqing’s voice sounded lazy and relaxed, with a hint of leisure.

Fu Yu chuckled, ”Not at all. So, why the sudden call?”

”You’re off today, right? I’m off too. Got time? How about lunch together?”

Liu Yuqing’s invitation came as a bit of a surprise, leaving Fu Yu unexpectedly delighted.

However, he couldn’t help but tease with a smile, ”If you’re treating, then I have time.”

Liu Yuqing was lying on the bed, hugging a pillow in a good mood, and upon hearing this, she immediately scoffed, ”Have some dignity, won’t you? How many meals do you owe me already? Trying to dodge, huh?”

Fu Yu then remembered that he had indeed promised Liu Yuqing a meal due to the video editing, but he had been too busy with work to find time.

So he quickly said, ”Just joking. I always keep my word, no way I’m slacking off!”

Liu Yuqing rolled her eyes, ”That’s more like it. Where are you? Got time this noon?”

Fu Yu chuckled, ”I’m wandering outside, got time. Come over, I’ll treat you to a meal!”

Liu Yuqing sat up suddenly, ”Where are you wandering?”

Fu Yu: ”At Dajie World. Come quickly, I’ll host you for lunch! Hotpot or BBQ, your pick!”

Liu Yuqing immediately said, ”Alright, I’ll freshen up and head over now!”

After hanging up the phone, Liu Yuqing jumped out of bed and hurriedly started washing up, putting on makeup, and picking out clothes.

Liu Yunong was woken up by the noise from outside the room, grim-faced, she opened the door to take a look.

She saw Liu Yuqing busily getting in and out, fussing around.

”Aren’t you off today? Why are you up so early?”

Liu Yunong herself usually returns home from the store late at night.

After a bath and a full skincare routine, she usually doesn’t get to bed until two or three in the morning.

On days without pressing matters, she typically sleeps in until the afternoon.

Liu Yuqing, with a face mask on, was crouching in front of the shoe cabinet, choosing shoes when she looked back, ”Oh, I’m going out for lunch. Sis, you go back to sleep, don’t worry about me.”

Liu Yunong frowned slightly, ”There are some leftovers for you in the fridge, just heat them up. There’s also some beef head from yesterday at the store, the seasoning is ready, just mix and eat.”

”Really? Save it for me, I’ll eat it tonight. I’ve already made plans with someone for lunch.”

Liu Yuqing said as she picked a satisfactory pair of shoes and then rushed to the bathroom.

Soon after, she ran out again, dashing into the bedroom to put on makeup.

Liu Yunong followed her in, standing at the bedroom door, watching Liu Yuqing dress up at twice her usual speed, being rushed yet meticulous.

For some reason, Liu Yunong suddenly had a feeling.

Something didn’t seem right, but she couldn’t pinpoint what.

It was just the instinct of an elder sister like a mother, raising her sibling...

Sure enough, Liu Yuqing was fidgeting with her outfit, changing three to four times, looking quite anxious.

Liu Yunong became increasingly uneasy.

This girl usually enjoys grooming herself but has never been this indecisive.

The situation seemed like something was brewing!

Thinking about it, Liu Yunong couldn’t stay still; she walked over to Liu Yuqing, discreetly sitting on the bed watching her profile...

”Xiaoqing, where are you going for lunch later?”

Liu Yuqing was seriously applying false eyelashes, pursing her lips, ”Dajie World.”

”Dajie World? Need a ride?”

Liu Yuqing finished her application, blinked at the mirror, satisfied with the angle.

She turned to look over, ”No need, sis, you go rest, don’t worry about me.”

Liu Yunong looked at the beautifully dressed Liu Yuqing, unable to rest her mind.

Questions started swirling in her head:

Who’s she meeting?

Is it a guy or a girl?

Two voices clashed in her mind!

One thought: Just ask directly! You’re her sister; it’s normal to care. What’s there to fear?

Another thought: What’s the point of asking? Your sister’s grown up and has her own life. You have to let go.

As Liu Yunong was arguing with herself, her phone suddenly rang.

Hearing the ringtone, she quickly went back to her room to answer.

The menu at Shangshi Private Kitchen is planned two days in advance and scheduled for purchase by the kitchen.

Wang Yulong called to ask if a dish on the menu, due to seasonal reasons, could be substituted.

Liu Yunong, used to being at the main store, momentarily overlooked this, so she immediately agreed to make the changes after Wang Yulong explained.

This also involved notifying the printing shop to change and print the menus.

The printing shop was quite displeased with the last-minute content change.

Liu Yunong’s branch had only been in Bei’an for a couple of months, and everything was new.

The collaboration with the printing shop was also new, lacking a deep connection.

As everything was ready for print, any last-minute changes, while not a big task, were undesired precedents.

After all, a weak foundation at the start means that if collaboration continues with customers demanding frequent changes, it’d be unbearable!

The printing shop argued their case with Liu Yunong.

Liu Yunong, experienced in business, wasn’t easily dealt with.

She skillfully resolved the issue with the printing shop.

After making two back-to-back calls and finally resolving work matters, her once overwhelmed mind began to calm.

She mentally sneered at herself: Impressive! Just at the start, and you’re already keen on digging into your sister’s private life!

With that thought, she felt both helpless and troubled.

Unexpectedly, a sense of sadness about how children grow up and can’t be controlled surged in her heart.

Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, her sister had grown into a young lady.

She turned to leave the bedroom.

Though she knew her worry was pointless.

Her sister had grown up and would eventually marry and settle down. No matter how much she worried, she couldn’t marry off her sister.

But she just couldn’t let go.

She had to check things out and clarify the situation; otherwise, her heart wouldn’t be at ease.
