The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Liu Yuqing asked, ”Didn’t you take a day off today? Why are they calling you over?”

Fu Yu responded truthfully, ”There’s a secret dish, and my master said it’s on today’s menu. He wants to teach me how to cook it.”

Liu Yuqing was taken aback, feeling more and more that something was off, ”Did they notify you suddenly?”

Fu Yu replied, ”Yes!”

Liu Yuqing raised an eyebrow slightly.

Goodness!

Something just didn’t seem right.

The dishes at their family restaurant indeed changed daily, but the special dishes were usually decided two days in advance.

If there really was a secret dish scheduled for today, Fu Yu would have been informed when he asked for leave.

Liu Yuqing imagined her sister’s smart and beautiful face and felt a mountain of pressure.

Looks like her sister had sensed something.

Whether to confess or not really needed some thought.

The thing is, with her and Fu Yu, they had just started to connect, and it felt too early to talk about anything substantial!

Of course, she couldn’t share any of this with Fu Yu.

Liu Yuqing couldn’t help but sigh, ”Your master is really good to you.”

Speaking of his master, Fu Yu got excited at once, ”Of course, my master is really great. Let me tell you...”

The two started chatting casually, and somehow, they couldn’t stop talking.

Noticing it was getting very late, Liu Yuqing reluctantly complained, ”Ah, time flies. It feels like we didn’t say much, and it’s already this late.”

Fu Yu laughed and said, ”Then let’s chat a bit longer; I’m not sleepy anyway.”

Meanwhile, Liu Yunong had already entered the house.

Standing at the entrance, she vaguely heard voices coming from Liu Yuqing’s bedroom.

Usually, if she came home and Liu Yuqing wasn’t asleep, this girl would definitely run out to greet her immediately.

Today was a bit unusual!

Liu Yunong walked quietly to the bedroom door.

Through the door crack, she saw Liu Yuqing wearing headphones, lying on the bed, swinging her feet while talking on the phone.

”But it’s almost midnight, and you have work tomorrow.”

Liu Yuqing’s voice sounded very reluctant.

Not sure what was said on the other side, Liu Yuqing suddenly got a bit happy, ”Really? Then I have to think about it. I want to have chicken noodle soup for breakfast tomorrow, like the one you made last time.”

”I also want a poached egg, the runny kind, alright...”

”Okay, let’s hang up then, you should rest early too.”

”No, you hang up first!”

”I’ll wait for you to hang up, then I’ll hang up.”

”Really? Who told you that? It must be great, let me tell you...”

Liu Yuqing kept saying she would hang up but never had the heart to actually do it.

The two of them chatted casually, even though they saw each other often during the day, they still had endless things to talk about.

Liu Yunong stood at the bedroom door, watching her sister on the bed looking so blissful, her emotions were extremely complex for a moment.

Liu Yuqing listened closely to Fu Yu’s voice through her headphones, chatted for a while, and finally, unable to ignore how late it was, reluctantly said, ”Then I’ll really hang up now, see you tomorrow!”

Fu Yu stood on the sidewalk, unknowingly digging a big hole in the snow with his shoe, scattering snow all over his shoes.

Hearing the reluctance in Liu Yuqing’s voice, Fu Yu smiled, ”Alright, rest early.”

As Liu Yuqing was about to hang up, Liu Yunong finally breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, they were just talking about harmless things.

Fu Yu listened as Liu Yuqing prepared to hang up and patiently waited.

However, the expected disconnect tone didn’t come, instead, Liu Yuqing suddenly called out, ”Fu Yu!”

Fu Yu was startled, bringing the phone closer to his ear, ”Hm? I’m here.”

There was a pause on Liu Yuqing’s end, then she quickly said, ”Fu Yu, sweet dreams! Mwah!!”

Before Fu Yu could react, Liu Yuqing had already hung up the phone.

Mwah!!!!

Fu Yu blinked.

Was that...

A kiss for him!!

Realizing that Liu Yuqing had just given him a goodnight kiss over the phone.

Fu Yu couldn’t help but grin foolishly.

It felt like someone gently tickled his heart, a bit itchy, with an indescribable sense of joy and warmth.

His whole heart felt warm and soft...

Even though he was filled with emotions and excitement, all those feelings seemed stuck in his chest, unsure how to express them.

When you think about it, he and Liu Yuqing had naturally progressed to this point.

Some things don’t need to be said, just listen to your heart.

One person pondering alone is called overthinking.

Two people mutually thinking of each other, that’s called love.

...

Liu Yuqing hung up the phone and buried her face in the bedding.

The scent of her usual skincare lotion lingered in her nostrils, and her heavy breathing and pounding heartbeat echoed in her ears.

So this is what it feels like to like someone!

Liu Yuqing felt as if her heart was bathing in honey...

Liu Yunong witnessed the scene and felt a blend of emotions in her heart for a moment.

She felt gratified that her sister had truly grown up, found someone she liked, and started a romantic relationship.

But also felt a twinge of bitterness, the kind that made her nose tingle and brought tears to her eyes.

With that thought, Liu Yunong quickly shook her head.

She shouldn’t think that way.

Seeing her younger sister find her own happiness should make her happy.

How could she shed tears?

Besides, Fu Yu was indeed quite nice, having been her apprentice personally trained by her, she knew him well.

Still, even though she acknowledged Fu Yu, her heart felt painful, like someone had forcibly cut out a piece of her heart.
