The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 436: Chapter 430: Came Specifically to Help Out

Chen Chen has been in the industry for over twenty years. Not only does he have rich experience in grilling, but he has also been recognized by the city’s chef association, joined the association, and is now a full member.

Discovering that Fu Yu also wanted to join the association, Chen Chen happily said, ”Xiaofu, so you want to join the chef association as well? That’s a good thing! However, you can first apply to join the association’s internship department. After passing the assessment, as long as you intern for three years, you can apply to become a full member of the association. If you perform excellently in the association, you can even get a recommendation to join the provincial chef association, or even apply for the national culinary association. I can’t help you much with other things, but if you want to join the internship department, I happen to know Minister Zhou there and can introduce you.”

While talking, Chen Chen suddenly remembered something and smiled, ”Right, you can also directly find our boss. He has a good relationship with the association’s leaders. He helped recommend me back then. You can talk to him, maybe it will work.”

Next to them, two assistants tidying up were now genuinely impressed by Fu Yu.

Look at him.

At the same age, they are still cleaning kitchen waste, while Fu Yu is already considering joining the chef association.

Truly a gap!

Hearing Chen Chen say this, Fu Yu felt a bit embarrassed.

He definitely couldn’t compare with Master Chen.

Chen joined the chef association with his own strength.

Fu Yu was purely relying on his connections with Feng Xiaoxiao, getting the application eligibility through the backdoor.

This really wasn’t something to be proud of.

Plus, he couldn’t just be honest about it, otherwise, it might seem a bit too showy.

Fu Yu had no choice but to say sheepishly, ”Oh, I’m just applying to try it out. It’s not certain if I can pass.”

Yet Chen Chen was still quite enthusiastic, and he offered, ”Have you finished filling out the application form? I can take a look for you, see if there’s anything filled out incorrectly, and directly fix it now to avoid any trouble later.”

Since Chen Chen said so, Fu Yu had to hand over his phone.

This electronic version of the application form would need to be printed later, and he was just trying it out now.

Chen Chen kindly wanted to guide Fu Yu because this application form was the face of joining the association and couldn’t have any errors.

But after taking a look,

Chen Chen couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

On Fu Yu’s application form, except for the personal details, almost everything else was blank.

It was only after seeing this application form did Chen Chen realize that Fu Yu was just a young newcomer in the kitchen, in his early twenties.

With his current work experience, he didn’t even qualify for the primary certification exam.

Yet, he had been treating Fu Yu as a peer.

Realizing this, Chen Chen couldn’t help but take another look at Fu Yu.

Since when did his impression of Fu Yu reach such a level?

In his mind, he even felt that Fu Yu was a colleague of equal standing, completely forgetting that he was the one who introduced Fu Yu to the grilling industry in the first place!

But even after realizing this, Chen Chen’s attitude towards Fu Yu didn’t change in the slightest.

He sincerely advised, ”Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. This... it’s a long journey. If you truly want to join the association, as long as you meet their requirements, it’s actually quite simple. Plus, they require a formal member to guarantee, and I’m a member, and the boss can help with connections as well...”

As the two were talking, Zhang Zhen came over with a laugh.

The station over at the Chinese kitchen had already wrapped up for the day.

Zhang Zhen had come over specifically to find Fu Yu, who was working part-time at the Chinese kitchen and had been borrowed by the barbecue area; he naturally needed to take him back.

Moreover, at this time, the barbecue area didn’t have much work left, so Fu Yu could leave at any time.

”Chef Chen, are you guys wrapping up too?”

Seeing Zhang Zhen, Chen Chen quickly greeted him with a smile, ”Almost done for the day. Your side is always so quick!”

Then he casually asked, ”What brings you here? Is there something you need?”

Zhang Zhen chuckled, ”Not really, I just came to find Xiaofu.”

Fu Yu saw Zhang Zhen and quickly stepped forward, ”Chef Zhang, you were looking for me?”

Zhang Zhen, hearing Fu Yu and Chen Chen discussing something about membership, smiled, ”Oh, it’s nothing urgent, you guys finish what you’re doing first, I’m not in a hurry.”

Chen Chen hurriedly said, ”We’re not busy at all, and anyway the shift is over. How about we go change together?”

Since there were still assistants working, it was indeed inconvenient to talk here.

Zhang Zhen originally intended to leave with Fu Yu, so he laughed and said, ”Sure, it’s about time anyway.”

Chen Chen had initially thought about inviting Fu Yu for a late-night snack.

Following Fu Yu around and learning barbecue techniques today had been quite enlightening for him.

However, he couldn’t quite place the casual, effortless grilling technique that Fu Yu seemed to possess.

He wanted to discuss further with Fu Yu.

After all, when it comes to learning, the worst thing is to do it in isolation.

Having someone to discuss and exchange ideas with brings the best results.

But with Zhang Zhen suddenly showing up, clearly having something to say to Fu Yu, it felt inappropriate to mention the late-night snacks.

After instructing the two assistants, Chen Chen followed Zhang Zhen and Fu Yu to the changing room.

Zhang Zhen didn’t actually have anything specific to discuss with Fu Yu; he was just adept at dealing with people, intending to see Fu Yu off at the right time as he left the music restaurant.

Regarding Chen Chen previously going to Qianlima to teach barbecue skills, others might not know, but Zhang Zhen was well aware.

In their two years working together, Zhang Zhen had gotten to know Chen Chen fairly well.

He’s a good person but a bit straightforward, without much subtlety.

Dealing with such people is easy and carefree but has the downside of them not thinking things through, which can lead to overlooked details.

Zhang Zhen was concerned that Chen Chen might consider Fu Yu as his apprentice after having taught him.

He had come specifically to defuse the situation.

After all, Fu Yu was just a part-timer at the music restaurant, working on a fixed schedule.

With Chen Chen borrowing him, if it delayed his clocking out time and Fu Yu wasn’t happy internally but couldn’t show it openly,

Zhang Zhen had to step in to ease the atmosphere.

Fu Yu honestly hadn’t considered such things, but he was quite happy to be clocking out earlier.

The three of them, each with their own thoughts, resulted in an unexpected silence.

Zhang Zhen, glancing at Fu Yu and Chen Chen beside him, tried to spice up the atmosphere, recalling how earlier at the barbecue section, the two seemed to be discussing something.

He asked, ”By the way, what were you two talking about earlier? I think I heard something about membership? Were you discussing the arrangements for New Year’s Day?”
