The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 434: Chapter 428: Not So Simple

The music restaurant is thriving in this city, and the taste of the dishes is one aspect, but ensuring the quality and quantity of the ingredients is also very important.

In fact, for most customers, food safety is a top priority.

When conditions permit, people are more inclined to dine at restaurants with good environments, good service, and fresh dishes.

In the eyes of many returning customers, the music restaurant is a place that pays great attention to quality.

When they finally received an order, Chen Chen felt relieved and couldn’t hide his joy: ”Xiaofu, I’ll leave this order to you.”

Fu Yu nodded and said with a smile, ”Chef Chen, don’t worry, I will definitely grill it well.”

Hearing Fu Yu’s words made Chen Chen feel appreciated.

Although Fu Yu had only been teaching at Qianlima for less than a month, he was practically brought up by Chen Chen himself. Even without the title of master and apprentice, there was definitely more affection compared to others.

Fu Yu’s attitude made Chen Chen feel respected.

Chen Chen smiled and said, ”Alright, Xiaofu, familiarize yourself with the spices’ location first. Tell me if anything is missing, and I’ll have them quickly prepare the ingredients.”

After speaking, Chen Chen turned to instruct two assistants: ”Prepare the ingredients according to the order chart.”

”Didn’t you guys also see the previous barbecue takeaway reviews? The takeaways from Qianlima were made by Chef Fu. This time, I invited him to help oversee the cooking, so you should also learn from him.”

The two assistants, full of joy, hurriedly expressed their gratitude: ”Master, don’t worry!”

After giving instructions, Chen Chen went over to watch Fu Yu’s operation.

The two assistants quickly sorted and brought the ingredients over.

Fu Yu’s barbecue skills were initially learned from Chen Chen, so he was very familiar with his grilling habits.

As for the taste, since the improved version of the classic sauce he made was used at Qianlima, he certainly couldn’t reveal the recipe to Chen Chen.

So, after getting Chen Chen’s consent, he decided to use the spicy sauce and honey sauce for grilling.

During the grilling process, Fu Yu explained as he worked.

Chen Chen stood beside him, listening intently, and occasionally raised some issues he noticed.

This made Fu Yu very pleased.

Single-sided explanations are never as effective as interactive discussions.

Besides, having worked in barbecue cooking for many years, Chen Chen has his unique insights in both experience and technique.

Discussing and exchanging ideas with him also benefited Fu Yu greatly.

Fu Yu patiently and repeatedly analyzed and explained to Chen Chen what kind of ingredients needed what level of heat and the angle and technique for applying sauces.

As for those so-called textbook grilling methods, Fu Yu already found them full of loopholes and very impractical.

Through thousands of trial operations in the teaching practice classroom, Fu Yu had already developed his own set of grilling techniques.

He would randomly select the best grilling method based on the ingredients and sauce ratio.

To Fu Yu, rigidly fixed grilling methods had become an unnecessary constraint.

It was most important to tailor an accurate grilling method based on customer taste preferences and the state of the ingredients.

In his view, controlling the heat and teaching the proportion of spices are skills that beginners need to carefully consider and practice repeatedly, to get started quickly.

And to truly have superb barbecue skills, one must learn the essence of barbecue through these techniques.

When the technique is not up to standard, following basic operations for grilling is the easiest to master and the least likely to result in mistakes.

Chen Chen has a lot of experience in grilling and possesses many barbecue techniques.

But he has been unable to break through to a high level...

Fu Yu couldn’t help but glance more at Chen Chen, internally thinking, perhaps he lacks some insight into barbecue cooking.

In this regard, Fu Yu does have some experience.

He also broke through his bottleneck by chance, perhaps Chen Chen needed the same opportunity.

Fu Yu has quite some experience in mentoring. He initially planned to explain some special grilling techniques and methods to address Chen Chen’s shortcomings, which he painstakingly researched and understood in the teaching practice classes.

However, for now—

Fu Yu suddenly felt he should tailor his teaching to the person’s abilities.

Chen Chen is not like Sun Qingning or Zhang Jinyu.

Chen Chen himself is highly skilled; he doesn’t need hands-on teaching, but rather exchanges in grilling techniques.

But there are actually no fixed techniques in grilling itself.

Whether one can grill delicious food depends entirely on personal experience and insight.

Given this, there was no need to emphasize too many grilling methods.

Rather, Chen Chen should directly refer to his own grilling philosophy for operation.

After all, his grilling philosophy comes from summing up the essence of those excellent grilling methods.

It’s just uncertain what kind of effect this might have.

Actually, this unique grilling method is what Fu Yu comprehended through learning and operating in the teaching practice classroom during his system teaching.

But if Fu Yu were to summarize this grilling method, it really would be hard to explain in a short time.

Because there’s no fixed routine to this set of grilling methods he understood.

It is instead a complete grilling concept.

Including how to control the heat to the best state, how to brush and apply the sauce evenly, how to grasp the best degree of grilling the ingredients, etc.

The quantity of a single barbecue order is limited, so the time Fu Yu spent grilling wasn’t long, but it left Chen Chen astonished.

Previously, when watching barbecue takeaway reviews, because he listened to the evaluations of three hosts, he thought Fu Yu might excel in creative plating techniques.

Chen Chen thought his barbecue operation had no issues, but he primarily lacked skills in plating.

However, watching Fu Yu’s operation and listening to his understanding and philosophy of grilling, it didn’t seem to be the case!

Fu Yu’s techniques and operations during grilling were extremely exquisite, and the details, perhaps because of an observer’s perspective, places he never paid attention to before were now crystal clear.

Chen Chen felt he grasped a bit of the thought process, but was still a bit away from fully understanding it.

However, this was to be expected.

His inability to break through to an advanced level was due to being stuck at this point, and truly comprehending it wouldn’t be easy.

Moreover, the amount that can be learned from making a single barbecue order is too little.

Thankfully, Fu Yu was willing to guide him, so he could at least grasp something.
