The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 424: Chapter 418: Gourmet Association

Just returned from a class on advanced taste development practice.

Fu Yu isn’t great at other things, but when it comes to discussing the taste of ingredients, he’s a master.

After his thorough yet simple analysis and explanation, Feng Xiaoxiao immediately wore a look of excitement as if she had found a kindred spirit.

”You’re absolutely right! So you’ve studied this area too, your perspective is exactly like what I know, I think the same way.”

They spoke in Mandarin, of course, but when Feng Xiaoxiao mentioned where she got this idea from, she switched to English.

Fu Yu didn’t have a clue what it meant, so he just chuckled and said, ”What a coincidence.”

He guessed it might have been some friend or teacher who had discussed this concept with Feng Xiaoxiao.

But it wasn’t until Yao Shi picked up the conversation that he understood it seemed to be an academic journal.

Fu Yu didn’t consider himself hugely knowledgeable, so he naturally wouldn’t feel any shame over such a thing, but he was still glad he didn’t randomly respond. It’s okay not to know something, but pretending to know when you don’t is laughable.

This small episode quickly passed.

The culinary skills at Qianlima’s kitchen are still quite good.

The chef for this order was from Gu Yunwu’s team.

In the past, Fu Yu really couldn’t tell which dish was made by Gu Yunwu and which was prepared by Yao Yihang.

But now, ever since his taste underwent deep development, when he tastes dishes again, his tongue has become particularly discerning.

For example, the spicy crayfish in front of him, as soon as he tasted it, he guessed it should be Yao Yihang’s creation.

The cooking time was clearly a bit off, the flavors were too strong, the ratio of spiciness and numbness wasn’t balanced, and the kitchen helper who washed the ingredients was clearly a bit negligent, as some of the shrimp veins weren’t cleaned properly, affecting the taste slightly.

But looking at the few people around him enjoying their meal, they clearly didn’t notice these trivial flaws.

Fu Yu also silently picked the cleaner ones to eat, without making unnecessary comments.

The whole dining process went smoothly enough.

A table of four people, split into two groups for conversation, but they got along quite well.

At the end of the meal, Fu Yu gave himself an assessment of this meeting: ordinary. There didn’t seem to be any major slip-ups, nothing worth boasting about either.

However, just as they were about to leave, Feng Xiaoxiao suddenly said to Fu Yu, ”Xiaofu, do you know about the Culinary Association? The Association recruits new members every year, but ever since the new president took over, the rules have changed. Starting last year, they hold a unified recruitment event around this time each year. I came to see you today to ask if you’re interested in joining the Association?”

Fu Yu: ”!”

It’s like the solution just dropped into his lap when he needed it!

Fu Yu nodded, ”Sure, I’ve heard about the Culinary Association a long time ago, but I’ve never had the chance to get involved.”

Feng Xiaoxiao laughed upon hearing that. She took out her phone, ”Let’s add each other on WeChat. I’ll send you the relevant registration materials later. Take a look, and if everything’s fine, I’ll get you an application form. After you fill it out, I’ll submit it for you. You’ll be just in time to participate in the year-end conference.”

For Feng Xiaoxiao to say that, it’s almost certain to happen.

Filling out the application is probably just a formality.

Fu Yu was delighted.

It seems completing the task is just around the corner.

Feng Xiaoxiao’s words left Yao Shi stunned...

Culinary Association?

Isn’t such an academic association something not just anyone can join?

He once had the thought of joining on a whim, but it just happened that the association was full at the time, and they weren’t looking for new members. Then, busy expanding his career, this idea was shelved and forgotten.

But he still clearly remembered the specific requirements for joining.

To be selected, you must have recommendations from many professionals, write articles related to culinary topics, and achieve certain accomplishments.

There’s also a requirement for years of experience in professional technical positions.

But now it seems.

As long as Fu Yu nods, it’s just a matter of filling out a form.

No, no, from Feng Xiaoxiao’s attitude, it seems that even if he doesn’t fill out the form, as long as she helps out, it could be sorted out in no time.

Tsk!

This kid’s luck is too good!

It’s clear that Feng Xiaoxiao really appreciates Fu Yu.

Thinking of this, Yao Shi gave Feng Xiaoxiao another look.

As a female host, her looks and figure are naturally exceptional.

In terms of age, just over thirty, not too old either.

After all, in this day and age, as long as you have money, you can ”reduce” a year in age for every hundred thousand Yuan you have. If you’re worth millions, you can choose to be as old as you like.

Yao Shi withdrew his gaze and looked at Fu Yu.

Young, handsome, that’s enough.

Yao Shi narrowed his eyes and asked, ”To join the Culinary Association, as far as I know, don’t you also need to go through selection? Besides experience and qualifications, isn’t there a need to do culinary-related research and publish related articles?”

Yao Shi felt that Feng Xiaoxiao’s intentions weren’t simple.

They definitely weren’t pure.

A young, beautiful, and financially comfortable female host, just because she ate a barbecue, specially sought connections to be introduced to a chef.

Especially since this chef was also striking and handsome.

As Fu Yu’s leader, Yao Shi felt he definitely needed to look out for him.

But Fu Yu looked worried.

Joining the association also required writing articles?

With his limited writing skills, just writing a recipe was about his limit.

Recalling the result of an hour spent perusing a literary masterpiece last night to cultivate his literary taste.

Fu Yu truly had little confidence in himself.

He actually just wanted to complete the task and join the Culinary Association in passing.

Yao Shi’s words made Fu Yu resolve to dive back into reading tonight once he got home.

Building literary knowledge was something he had to work on.

Feng Xiaoxiao said, ”Oh, don’t worry about that. Chef Fu, I happen to have a project application in process, and the manuscript is already complete. I’ll add you to it. Once it’s approved, it can be directly recorded in your profile.”

Yao Shi: ”!”

He really wanted to ask if maybe he could join too?

Fu Yu secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

He nodded, looks like this task is all but secured...

After seeing off Feng Xiaoxiao and Zhang Shiniang, Yao Shi headed straight to the office area.

Fu Yu returned to the kitchen.

As he walked back, he pondered on checking online later to see what benefits there might be from joining the Culinary Association.

It’s said associations recognized by the state usually come with certain guarantees.

He already had his basic insurances and housing fund; wondered if he could maybe secure a guaranteed additional salary?

Even if there wasn’t money to be had, receiving extra gifts during the holidays wouldn’t be too bad.

Fu Yu thought all this as he turned into the hallway leading from the front to the back kitchen.

As he walked, he came across Liu Yuqing bringing over a serving list from the kitchen.
