The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 422: Chapter 416: Calamity Befalls Those Whose Virtue Falls Short of Their Position

Sun Qingning was here to apologize to Fu Yu.

Last night, fueled by alcohol, he had fiercely lashed out at Qi Shun.

At that moment, he did whatever he felt like, however gratifying it was.

Now that he’s sober, he realized his actions were quite out of line.

Whatever’s between him and Qi Shun, that’s their business.

But the fuss last night inadvertently dragged Fu Yu into it.

Fu Yu genuinely didn’t take it to heart, and he had always somewhat disliked Qi Shun’s character.

Seeing Sun Qingning in a submissive posture, Fu Yu waved him off, ”The only mistake you made was saying all the things I wanted to say. Alright, let’s just drop it, move on!”

Sun Qingning, feeling grateful, admired and respected Fu Yu even more.

Look at his character, it’s truly...

[Ding! You gained +5 favorability with NPC junior worker Sun Qingning]

During this period, Fu Yu had gained quite a lot of favorability from Sun Qingning.

However, what left Fu Yu somewhat disappointed was that even though the favorability was almost maxed out, the activated partner system hadn’t triggered once.

Could it be that the level of favorability truly had no significance for the partner system?

Thinking of this, Fu Yu couldn’t help but suspect the system was deliberately going easy...

While preparing ingredients, Fu Yu casually checked Sun Qingning’s personal attributes.

He originally wanted to understand his partner’s true level.

The result was a series of low-level attributes, simply unbearable to look at.

Fu Yu silently criticized, no wonder Zhao Meng always had a stern look towards Sun Qingning, now he thoroughly understood Zhao Meng’s feelings.

It’s really disappointing!

Then he looked at his own attributes.

[Name: Fu Yu]

[Profession: Chef]

[Level: lv8: 862/1000 (Main-Control Chef)]

[Professional Skills: (Career Transition in Progress)

Profession 1: Barbecue Master (Not Activated)]

Fu Yu suddenly understood.

He finally grasped the meaning of career transition.

It seems besides barbecue, he would have opportunities to learn other cooking techniques over time.

After all, being a chef isn’t limited to the main dishes; there’s the Bai’an Chef, dessert chef, and Western chef, with many legitimate professional classifications.

Having figured this out.

Fu Yu suddenly realized he had inadvertently passed through a new learning field.

Not to mention Bai’an for now, but as for those professions like desserts and Western cuisine, he truly hadn’t touched them.

And on the main dish side, he had already experienced several learning sessions in the practical classroom, occasionally getting related skills granted by the system.

Even so, he hadn’t learned even a fraction of the main dish cooking.

Now wanting to start a new career transition, how much professional knowledge accumulation is needed in the process?

How many related skills and various sub-skills need to be mastered?

How could it be so simple to smoothly complete a career transition?

Fu Yu couldn’t help but fall silent.

Thinking carefully, even after the Barbecue Master truly starts, I’m afraid there are still many related cooking techniques to learn.

There’s a long way to go...

From now on, it’s best to be down-to-earth and diligently hone the culinary arts!

...

The review activity in last night’s live broadcast, after a night of fermentation online, by the next morning, everyone in the shop almost knew about it.

During the day, whenever someone came over to the back kitchen, as long as they saw Fu Yu, they would come over to chat warmly with him.

As for others’ praise, Fu Yu maintained his composure quite steadily; he now clearly understood that the things on the surface wouldn’t bring any substantial rewards, only additional troubles.

As for that so-called reputation online...

If one’s virtue doesn’t match their position, disaster will follow.

Fu Yu’s humble attitude instead won universal praise from those around him.

Privately, everyone praised Fu Yu for being low-key, and their impression of him improved even more.

This is indeed the unintentional growth.

After a busy morning, during the afternoon’s break, Fu Yu finished eating and greeted Zhao Meng, ”Chef Zhao, I’m going to the supermarket for a bit; do you need me to bring anything back?”

Zhao Meng was taken aback but quickly said, ”Wait a moment, I have something to discuss with you.”

After finishing his meal quickly, Zhao Meng led Fu Yu towards the dormitory.

While walking, Zhao Meng said, ”Fu Yu, I need to discuss something with you.”

Seeing Zhao Meng’s serious attitude, Fu Yu curiously asked, ”Chef Zhao, what’s the matter?”

”We’ll talk inside.”

Once inside the room, Zhao Meng closed the door casually before saying, ”Actually, it’s nothing major, just some advice for you, but just take it as a reference, no rush.”

Fu Yu nodded, having a vague guess in his mind.

Zhao Meng said, ”Yesterday I didn’t have the chance, but I wanted to tell you this: the barbecue in the live review was done by you, and everyone in the shop knows it. But I still don’t want you to be too conspicuous. Mainly because with the current general environment, you understand. If it goes out, knowing you’re the main chef, you would certainly get some fame, and your specialized orders would increase a lot, without a doubt.”

”But what I worry about is that your situation is not unprecedented, but the subsequent development... often falls far short of expectations. You’re just over twenty, and it’s the beginning stage for learning and accumulating in every aspect. I hope you can make good use of the time in the back kitchen to work hard, seriously refine and improve yourself, without being disturbed by too many external factors.”

”Therefore, the reason I’m talking to you is that I hope we can temporarily not publicize that you were the one grilling.”

After saying this, afraid that Fu Yu wouldn’t understand, Zhao Meng patiently explained, ”Learning cooking is different from other things; the fame grown by hype has no utility.”

”We’re not in this line of work to gain popularity or amass so-called popularity.”

”You’re a chef, and your primary job is to cook delicious food, sticking to the kitchen every day, requiring continuous acquisition of culinary-related operational experience.”

”I genuinely have experience in this; the fastest I progressed in learning cooking was before becoming a head chef, when I just started taking orders independently. Once I truly became a head chef, having people assisting, the job became relatively easier, but gradually, this attitude and working somewhat become lax.”

Although it feels more comfortable working now, many times, Zhao Meng genuinely feels that he has been resting on his laurels these years.

For so many years, there hasn’t been a bit of progress, and his culinary skills remain at a standstill.

Zhao Meng genuinely considered Fu Yu.

Fu Yu is really too young.

Just over twenty, achieving too much success early in life isn’t a good sign for any profession.

During last night’s introspective moments, Zhao Meng thought about this while smoking afterward.

Today, he sincerely advised Fu Yu, hoping he wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes.

The golden period may only occur once in a lifetime.

Once missed, it would be too late for regrets.
