The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 435: Chapter 429: Especially Embarrassing

After the grilling was finished, Fu Yu plated the dishes, and an assistant came over to handle the takeout packaging.

Chen Chen stood still, a touch of doubt and disbelief in his eyes as he looked at Fu Yu.

”Xiaofu... the grilling technique you just used seems different from what I taught you before. I can’t pinpoint how, but it looks really impressive!”

The two assistants nearby were utterly puzzled.

Even though their culinary skills weren’t great, they had been by their mentor’s side for a while and were very familiar with their mentor’s grilling techniques.

The way Fu Yu grilled just now was indeed different from Chen Chen’s usual methods. Even though the ingredients and sauces were the same, the entire process was noticeably different.

Fu Yu smiled slightly: ”Oh, this is a new grilling technique I researched myself, and it’s working quite well.”

The two assistants looked surprised.

Their mentor had been at Qianlima for less than two months, and Fu Yu had already developed a whole new grilling method?

But Chen Chen looked serious, earnestly gazing at Fu Yu, and asked, ”Did you come up with this yourself?”

Fu Yu nodded.

Chen Chen showed a look of admiration, and then sincerely said, ”Xiaofu, can you teach me this grilling technique?”

The two assistants were dumbfounded.

They exchanged glances.

Did they hear it wrong?

But seeing their mentor so serious, it clearly wasn’t a joke.

Could it be... this young chef in front of them is really that impressive?

This method, which didn’t seem special, but was executed so smoothly, is actually quite extraordinary?

Thinking about it, the two assistants were filled with shock and disbelief.

In fact, the two assistants had been following Chen Chen for almost a year, and they could handle regular grilling orders on their own.

But they usually approached taking orders as a job, doing exactly as their mentor taught without pondering deeper into the art of grilling.

So their understanding of barbecue was very limited.

At best, they knew a little bit.

But Chen Chen was different. From the time he entered the industry, he studied barbecue and had sufficient knowledge of it. Seeing Fu Yu’s technique, he naturally saw its brilliance.

Some things cannot be expressed in words, but the subtleties can be seen in certain details.

Because of this, Chen Chen once again deeply realized that Fu Yu was truly skilled.

Regardless of how he reached this level in such a short time.

This one skill in grilling alone was already amazing.

For this reason, he asked Fu Yu if he could teach him this method.

Fu Yu readily replied, ”Of course.”

Chen Chen was relieved and smiled easily, ”That’s great, thank you, Xiaofu.”

After seven in the evening, the orders for late-night snacks began to increase.

All the subsequent orders were grilled by Fu Yu, with Chen Chen assisting beside him.

The two assistants just stood quietly on the side, wide-eyed...

They suddenly realized that the young man in front of them, who seemed close to their age, was truly impressive!

Even their mentor was helping him out.

...

After busying themselves for half a day, the kitchen officially closed at 8 PM.

The music restaurant never relied on late-night snacks as their main business. The barbecue section closed daily at 8:30 PM, and they stopped taking orders after 8 PM.

After finishing the last order, Fu Yu and Chen Chen were chatting while waiting for the assistants to clean up when Fu Yu suddenly received a call from Xiao Xiao.

Since their last meeting, they hadn’t been in touch.

Fu Yu greeted respectfully, ”Teacher Feng,” and then asked, ”Do you need something from me?”

Xiao Xiao got straight to the point, ”I just wanted to ask how your application for the membership is going. If it’s done, send it to me. The sooner we submit it, the sooner they can review it and approve it.”

Only then did Fu Yu remember that he was preparing to join the chef association.

”Ah, okay, I’ve been too busy these days and forgot about it. Sorry about that. I’ll fill it out and send it to you shortly.”

Xiao Xiao said gently, ”No problem. I just got the news that they’re starting to review new membership applications, so I thought I’d give you a nudge. Oh, by the way, the annual meeting is still being held in the province, and they should mail an invitation to you, so make sure your contact information is accurate when filling out the form.”

Fu Yu thanked him and chatted a bit more with Xiao Xiao.

After hanging up, Fu Yu casually opened the application form Xiao Xiao had previously sent him.

He hadn’t paid attention before, but now that he looked closely, he realized the information required was quite detailed.

Besides basic personal information, details like current workplace, position, title, and work start date also needed to be listed.

Although Qianlima was a somewhat famous restaurant in Bei’an, submitting it for provincial review felt slightly inadequate.

As for the position and title: head chef? It seemed a bit low-level.

Years in culinary and cooking: one year.

Technical level: □ Junior, □ Intermediate, □ Senior...

Just signed up for the junior level exam and haven’t taken it yet, how should I choose?

Forget it, leave it blank.

Qualifications: □ Chinese Culinary Master, □ Chinese Catering Service Master, □ Chinese Culinary Expert...

This seems too competitive, better leave it blank too.

Is the company a member of the association: No.

Work history and achievements: One year at Qianlima?

Oddly, a large space was left for this section to be filled.

Typing a short line, seeing it lonely and sparse, looked exceptionally bleak.

Went through the form from start to finish.

Fu Yu felt that probably the only complete information he could provide was a copy of his ID and a passport-sized color photo.

He was really experiencing what it meant to have someone to help.

As he was at his level now, if it weren’t for Xiao Xiao’s help, the idea of joining the chef association wouldn’t even be worth considering.

Luckily, once Xiao Xiao’s paper passed, he would have another honorable mention to add.

Otherwise, this blank application would look really bad when submitted!

While Fu Yu was on the call, Chen Chen had gotten up to supervise the assistants in cleaning the cooking utensils and ingredients.

When he returned, he saw Fu Yu fiddling with his phone, looking somewhat troubled.

Chen Chen approached, asking with concern, ”Xiaofu, what are you up to?”

Fu Yu was thinking about the application form and absentmindedly replied, ”Filling out a form.”

Curious, Chen Chen leaned over for a look and was immediately surprised, ”This, this is the application form for the chef association? Xiaofu, you’re planning to join the chef association?!”
