The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 426: Chapter 420: Everybody Knows What Everyone Is Like

Fu Yu quickly walked over.

”Hello, customer! I’m the chef at the restaurant. If you don’t mind, can I help you with the menu? It seems you’re in a bit of a hurry, so let’s make it quick. Once the kitchen receives the order, it takes a bit of time to cook, so there’s no need to delay with the ordering. I’m very familiar with our dishes, so I’ll help you pick a few, alright?”

After speaking, Fu Yu turned around and signaled Liu Yuqing to leave first.

Upon hearing that Fu Yu was the chef, and seeing him tall and handsome, with a very gentle and polite attitude, the female customer’s anger diminished.

But watching Liu Yuqing leave, she couldn’t help but complain, ”Hmph! No professionalism at all!”

Fu Yu pretended not to hear, and looked at the boy, asking, ”Since you don’t like spicy food and prefer a stronger flavor, how about sweet dishes? We have many specialty dishes in this area, and they all taste great.”

Hearing this, the boy’s face, already a bit red with anxiety, turned even redder.

He resisted and said, ”Who likes sweet food? Only little girls like sweet things!”

Fu Yu sighed inwardly at this.

”Being childish is an illness; it needs to be treated!”

With the boy’s situation, Fu Yu didn’t even need to use his skills deliberately. Just from experience, he knew the boy liked sweet food but simply wouldn’t admit it out of pride.

It’s okay not to admit it.

Fu Yu changed his tone: ”Well, boys rarely like sweets, but we have some other great specialties, like tomato shrimp, fish in tomato sauce, seafood rolls with fried dough, oh, and the crab sticks I mentioned! You can try the new secret dipping sauce, it’s not spicy, very flavorful, mainly sour with a hint of sweetness, perfect for this season and very appetizing.”

He then added, ”You can’t enjoy the seafood’s freshness without a sour soup on the side.”

Hearing about these dishes, the boy’s heart was quietly moved.

Tomato shrimp, he’s had it before, with a sweet and sour taste, delicious whether leaning towards sour or sweet.

And the dipping sauce for the crab sticks is also sweet and sour, sounds good.

Fu Yu didn’t give the boy a chance to decide. After recommending the dishes, he continued, ”There are only two of you, four dishes are enough. If you need a main dish, you can try our seafood vegetable noodles. The broth is fresh and delicious, not hard on the stomach, nutritious, and tasty, definitely worth a try.”

The boy was obviously interested.

Fu Yu asked, ”If that’s okay, let’s order these first. If it’s not enough, we can add more dishes later. The kitchen will need a bit to cook, so let me place your order quickly and notify them to serve it faster. How does that sound?”

The boy generally had no strong opinions. If asked for his thoughts, he’d hesitate and easily change his mind.

But when someone made the decision for him, he was quite agreeable.

The boy nodded: ”Okay.”

The female customer felt calmed when Fu Yu said he’d expedite their order in the kitchen, and seeing her son agree, she nodded and said, ”Fine, order as you mentioned.”

After dealing with the customer, Fu Yu went to Liu Yuqing to place the order.

”Put this order under my name. They’re in a rush, so I’ll head to the kitchen to manage this table’s dishes.”

Liu Yuqing nodded, placing the order under Fu Yu’s regular customer list.

Fu Yu took the order slip and suddenly asked, ”You have an early shift today too, right?”

Liu Yuqing paused: ”Yes, why?”

Fu Yu said, ”Wait for me a bit, I’ll treat you to dinner tonight.”

Liu Yuqing was obviously surprised, blinking: ”Why the sudden treat?”

Fu Yu hinted, ”To apologize, since I spoke out of turn. You can think about what you want to eat in the meantime. I should be done in about forty minutes.”

Fu Yu was initially planning to invite Liu Yuqing for a meal earlier, and he hadn’t changed his clothes yet.

Seeing him return to the kitchen, Gu Yunwu was quite surprised.

Fu Yu casually fabricated, ”A regular customer ordered, so I have to finish it before leaving.”

Gu Yunwu knowingly nodded.

Such situations often occurred in the kitchen.

Sometimes, when it happened, one could only volunteer to work overtime. Regular customers ordering specifically for a chef, if unfulfilled repeatedly, could lead to losing clientele.

Zhang Jinyu and the others had long left, so Fu Yu didn’t necessarily need anyone to assist, but Gu Yunwu still voluntarily sent an assistant to help.

Although Qi Shun’s personality was unpleasant, his culinary fundamentals were the most solid among the four interns, so Gu Yunwu valued him somewhat.

Gu Yunwu had just turned to call Xiaoqi, only to find Qi Shun, who was wandering a moment ago, now standing in front of the stove doing the initial deep-frying.

Instead, Lu Yao, who normally did the frying, was heading to organize the dishes.

Gu Yunwu redirected his request, instructing Lu Yao to assist Fu Yu.

Lu Yao agreed and went over to Fu Yu.

Qi Shun felt uncomfortable from the heat of the hot oil but refrained from complaining as he usually would.

Yao Yihang glanced at him, a trace of mockery surfacing in his eyes.

Qi Shun’s basic skills were indeed relatively good, but he tended to pick easy tasks and shirk hard work.

No one was fooled; initially unfamiliar, they didn’t know each other well, but now, having interacted for a while, who couldn’t see through each other?

Yao Yihang looked away indifferently.

He pretended not to see Qi Shun’s small maneuvers.

Fu Yu wasn’t particularly familiar with Lu Yao; they usually just greeted each other.

Lu Yao was polite to him, though not exactly close.

Having someone assist could save Fu Yu some effort.

Fu Yu carefully instructed Lu Yao to prepare the ingredients while he started heating the pan for cooking.

The tomato shrimp and fish in tomato sauce were popular dishes in the restaurant, cooked several times daily.

Fu Yu was well-versed in making them.

The seafood rolls with fried dough were more of a dessert. When it’s hot, they’re not often ordered, but with the recent temperature drop, they’ve become increasingly popular.

Cleaned shrimp meat and blanched edamame are chopped together.

Add seasoning, cooking wine, salt, sugar, soy sauce, and marinate for a while.

During this time, Fu Yu starts a new pan to make the seafood vegetable noodles.

Fu Yu originally created these seafood noodles, but they were only occasionally ordered in summer, never attaining the popularity of the restaurant’s signature seafood noodles.

Mainly because customers coming here for seafood generally preferred rich, savory flavors. In comparison, the seafood vegetable noodles, which were slightly sweet and relatively bland, weren’t as appealing.
