The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

Chapter 427: Chapter 421: No Matter What You Say, It’s All Useless

Fu Yu finished cooking a few dishes and handed over the cleanup work to Lu Yao, then went back to the dorm to change clothes.

Thinking they’d just have dinner like hot pot or barbecue on a side street, Fu Yu casually put on a tracksuit.

When he got to the front hall, Liu Yuqing was already ready and sitting in the corner on a guest chair, waiting.

Fu Yu called her, and the two walked out side by side.

”Have you decided what to eat?”

Liu Yuqing nodded, ”I heard the Liu Family’s Barbecue on the side street is pretty good, let’s go there.”

When they arrived, Fu Yu ordered with familiarity.

Liu Yuqing didn’t hold back either, ordering a few things she liked, and specially asked for a bottle of the city’s special drink, Orange Dayao.

Fu Yu ordered a bottle of room temperature beer.

While waiting for the food, Liu Yuqing barely spoke, clearly still sulking.

Fu Yu looked at her and smiled, ”What’s wrong, still mad? The parents were just in a hurry. Her son has such a slow temperament, and that’s why she lost her temper a bit.”

Liu Yuqing rolled her eyes at Fu Yu, pouting, ”Shouldn’t I be mad? Who talks like that? I introduced all the specialties of the restaurant, but her son kept changing his mind, and in the end, he couldn’t decide! With such a strong personality, no wonder her son has no opinions of his own!”

Unable to hold back, Liu Yuqing complained, glaring at Fu Yu, ”Seriously, Fu Yu, whose side are you on? Why are you speaking for them?”

Hearing this, Fu Yu realized she wasn’t calling him Chef Fu anymore, and quickly said, ”Of course, I have to side with the prettiest one, I’m with you all the way!”

”It’s just that we’re in the service industry, and you might still be adjusting to this environment since you haven’t been working long. During the onboarding training, didn’t Manager Gao give you some basic training? What did he say?”

Liu Yuqing sighed and continued after Fu Yu, ”As a server, you should treat customers with a warm and enthusiastic attitude. We have to first correct our own attitudes. Customers come to our store to buy an experience, sometimes even if their manners are poor, we have to remain dignified.”

Liu Yuqing looked at Fu Yu, frustrated and unhappy, ”All they tell us is to adjust our mentality at work, learn to control our temper, stay rational, and not let customers’ emotions affect us. Don’t bring personal emotions into work, and definitely don’t take it out on the customers. But the problem is, some customers don’t even deserve such treatment!”

”Does being a server mean having no dignity and catering to everyone? Why? I’m also working hard, standing all day until my legs are about to burst with varicose veins, can’t I at least get a little respect?”

Fu Yu looked at Liu Yuqing, her face scrunched up in a pouty, aggrieved way, which oddly seemed a bit cute.

He wanted to comfort her with a few words, but swallowed them back down.

Liu Yuqing was speaking the truth, and this is the current state of the service industry.

The reality is right there, any talk would be futile.

The server brought the drinks.

Fu Yu helped open the cap of the Orange Dayao and poured a glass for Liu Yuqing.

Then he poured himself a glass of beer.

The cold drink went down, diluting the feeling of being fed up.

Liu Yuqing continued, ”Actually, sometimes I feel life is very unfair. I’ve worked really hard; in school, I studied diligently, but my grades were never great. Now I’ve finally got a job, working at Qianlima with much effort to earn money. But although the pay is good, it’s so frustrating with all kinds of customers. Every type imaginable shows up.”

”They say the bigger the forest, the more birds there are, but I never imagined I’d run into ’old eagles’!”

Fu Yu was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter.

Indeed, that’s the food service business; if you want to earn money, you have to work hard to keep the customers coming back.

The boss only has two demands for the staff: be responsible and treat the customers like royalty.

After all, you earn your pay from the customers’ pockets, right?

The skewers started arriving at the table.

Liu Yuqing chatted and vented her frustrations to Fu Yu while focusing on eating her skewers.

Even though she was unhappy, it clearly didn’t affect her appetite.

”No wonder they say the barbecue here is good, it’s really delicious! The lamb skewers are good, the grilled tendons are good, the grilled chicken heads are good, and the grilled kidneys are really filling!”

Watching Liu Yuqing eat with such relish, her chubby cheeks were so cute that Fu Yu couldn’t help but tease, ”You don’t have to work so hard, you know. You’re so beautiful, one day you’ll marry a rich husband and live an easy life.”

Liu Yuqing laughed and mumbled, ”I was just venting earlier, now that I’ve said it, I feel better. Actually, being a server isn’t so bad; I get to introduce the restaurant’s specialties to customers, and the pay is decent. After a day of work, at least my efforts are worth something.”

”Moreover, good food has given me new energy! This barbecue is truly delicious!”

Fu Yu couldn’t help but chuckle.

He found Liu Yuqing to be a very endearing girl.

When she was upset, she’d talk to someone about it, then eat something delicious to quickly lift her spirits.

Being around someone like that makes you feel very relaxed.

Especially since she’s quite pretty.

Fu Yu always had a bit more patience for beautiful girls.

Suddenly remembering something, Liu Yuqing curiously asked, ”Fu Yu, don’t we only have two dipping sauces for our crab sticks? How did you end up serving his dish?”

Fu Yu smiled slightly, ”I made a new sauce, and the dish became improved as kung pao crab sticks.”

Knowing the boy liked sweet flavors, Fu Yu used the kung pao chicken sauce recipe to mix up a dish of dipping sauce.

The sweet and sour sauce paired with the fresh and aromatic crab sticks should taste pretty good too.

Liu Yuqing smacked her lips, looking at Fu Yu with admiration, ”You’re amazing! To think of that! Fu Yu, I discovered you’re really smart and have a gift for cooking, no matter the difficulty, you solve it so easily.”

Fu Yu felt a bit embarrassed by the compliment.

After finishing the meal and settling the bill, Fu Yu saw it was getting late and offered to walk Liu Yuqing home.

But she politely declined.

Liu Yuqing said she rented an apartment nearby to make it easier to get to work.

Fu Yu didn’t think much of it.

They said their goodbyes and went their separate ways.
