The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”It was indeed fate; there was hardly anyone passing by.”

He paused, ”We wore helmets, changed our clothes, and even deliberately altered our voices.”

When he saw the gun, he was terrified and immediately said, ’Take the money, don’t kill me.’”

At this point, Li Chuang suddenly choked up.

”We were originally going to leave with the money, but Mr. Qi insisted on... throwing him into the fish pond because he was afraid he’d call the police.”

”I thought he could swim and hadn’t drunk much alcohol, so I agreed.”

”We pushed him and his motorcycle into the river, and then we split up and ran away.”

”I took fifteen thousand and gave Mr. Qi five thousand.”

The interrogation room fell silent, the three people there stunned by the brutal story.

Wan couldn’t help but shake his head: ”It’s ironic, one moment they’re drinking happily, the next they’re at each other’s throats.”

”What did you do after getting the money?”

Zhang Yean pursued the question.

A glimmer suddenly appeared in Li Chuang’s eyes: ”I rushed back to the hospital overnight to pay for the surgery.”

”That night, my father finally had the surgery promptly.”

As he spoke, his tears finally streamed down.

”Every day for these three years, my conscience has tormented me.”

Hearing this, Jiang An let out a deep sigh, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes.

”Do you regret what happened now?”

Li Chuang’s lips curled into a bitter arc, his voice so low it was almost inaudible.

”You can’t have both fish and bear paw...” He lifted his head, his gaze filled with remorse.

”Although I’m a poor man, if I could’ve raised a bit more money or borrowed more at that time, maybe the tragedy wouldn’t have happened.”

His fingers unconsciously rubbed the armrest of the interrogation chair.

”What a pity, there’s no medicine for regret in this world, and time can’t be reversed.”

”Some mistakes, once made, can never be undone.”

Originally, they thought the breakthrough would bring excitement and satisfaction, but as the truth unveiled, everyone in the interrogation room felt an extraordinary heaviness in their hearts.

Jiang An slowly stood up, the badge on his police uniform shimmering coldly under the light.

He said sternly, ”What awaits you is the harsh punishment of the law.”

”I hope you will reform well during your sentence.”

His tone suddenly turned serious.

”If you can report Mr. Qi’s hiding place now, it would be a major meritorious act, offering the opportunity to seek a lighter punishment.”

”Tell me, where has Mr. Qi fled to now?”

Upon hearing this, Li Chuang immediately lowered his head, his hands unconsciously tightening, clearly struggling with fierce internal conflict.

Seeing this, Jiang An approached him, his voice softened: ”Earlier, when I visited your home, I saw your father working hard on rehabilitation exercises.”

”And your child, so young...”

He paused, ”If you could assist us in capturing Mr. Qi, it would greatly help in reducing your sentence.”

”At least, once you’re released, you can accompany your family and watch your child grow up.”

In an instant, the air in the interrogation room seemed to freeze.

The clock on the wall ticked, each second dragging on interminably.

After a long time, Li Chuang finally raised his head, his voice hoarse: ”I... I know where he is.”

He took a deep breath, ”He should have escaped to his grandmother’s house in Chuan City, Muchi County.”

”He told me before he fled, and I even helped him buy the train ticket.”

Upon hearing this crucial information, Jiang An’s eyes sparkled with keen light, and he swiftly turned and strode out of the interrogation room.

He took out his phone and quickly dialed Mr. Li’s number: ”Hey, Mr. Li! Immediately contact the Chuan City Public Security Bureau, we have an important suspect over there!”

”What suspect?”

Mr. Li on the other end of the line was waiting anxiously for a call back from the psychological testing personnel in his office.

This sudden piece of news left him momentarily unable to react.

He repeatedly confirmed: ”What do you mean? Can you explain more clearly?”

Jiang An’s voice came through the receiver clearly: ”Li Chuang has confessed!”

”He said the co-offender Mr. Qi fled to Chuan City, Muchi County!”

”What? Li Chuang confessed?”

Li Jian’s pen fell onto the desk with a thud, ink splattering onto the document, but he didn’t care to wipe it.

”Did he really admit to the crime?”

”Absolutely!”

Jiang An’s voice was filled with certainty, ”We used psychological tactics, and not only did he confess without reservation, but the crime details matched perfectly with our previous deductions!”

Li Jian almost jumped out of his chair: ”You’re still in the interrogation room, right? Okay, I’m coming down right now!”

Five minutes later, hurried footsteps echoed in the corridor.

Li Jian came quickly, seeing Jiang An, Wan, and Zhang Yean standing at the interrogation room door from a distance.

Their relieved expressions already said it all.

Li Jian hurriedly approached: ”The case really solved? He confessed to everything?”

Jiang An nodded, handing over a transcript: ”See, this is his confession.”

Li Jian quickly browsed through the transcript, his expression gradually shifting from shock to elation.

”Good! Good! Good!”

Repeating ”good” three times, each word became more powerful than the last.

Just a few minutes ago, he was worried about how to conduct psychological interrogation and deploy police forces.

Unexpectedly, the case took such a turn!

He looked at Jiang An with admiration: ”You’re simply a good luck charm for our criminal investigation team!”

In his excitement, Li Jian immediately dialed Mr. Ma’s number.

At that moment, Mr. Ma was standing at the conference room door preparing for a meeting; upon seeing the incoming call, he immediately answered: ”Mr. Li? I’m about to start a meeting, is there something urgent?”

”Mr. Ma, the case has been solved! You don’t have to contact the experts anymore!”

”Solved? So quickly?”

Mr. Ma’s voice was so surprised it raised eight degrees, ”Was it through physical evidence or psychological testing?”

”Neither!”

Li Jian couldn’t contain his excitement, ”It was Jiang An’s psychological breakthrough!”

”And the main suspect even revealed the whereabouts of the accomplice Mr. Qi, we’re preparing for the arrest now!”

Laughter echoed from Mr. Ma on the other side of the line: ”Wonderful! Immediately organize forces for the arrest; make sure this case is ironclad!”

After hanging up, Li Jian dialed Zhang Chao’s number: ”Mr. Zhang, you can come back.”

”Come back?”

On the other end, Mr. Zhang was puzzled, ”I just boarded the train for inspection.”

”No need, the case is already solved, and the related tests can be canceled.”

”What? It’s all solved?”

Mr. Zhang’s voice was filled with disbelief, ”Was it the experts Mr. Ma invited or a psychological breakthrough?”

”Neither!”

Li Jian proudly said, ”It was Jiang An’s psychological tactics that achieved the breakthrough, and also led to catching the accomplice!”

There was silence on the other end, only the rumbling sound of the train moving.

Finally, Mr. Zhang softly said, ”Okay, I’ll return now.”

He then found a stewardess to inquire: ”Excuse me, where’s the nearest stop?”

”Hello sir, the next stop is Qingshui Station in 30 minutes.”

”Okay, I’ll get off at Qingshui Station.”

Back in the corridor of the Public Security Bureau, Jiang An, Li Jian, Wan, and Zhang Yean walked briskly towards the command center.

Li Jian immediately contacted the Chuan City Public Security Bureau, sending them Mr. Qi’s detailed information.

In less than twenty minutes, Li Jian’s phone rang again.

The caller displayed as an unfamiliar non-local number: ”Hello, is this Mr. Li?”

”Yes, it is.”

”Through our technical investigation, we’ve found the target Mr. Qi residing in the Blue Sky Hotel within our jurisdiction.”

”Would you like us to proceed with the arrest or wait for your arrival?”

”Please help with the arrest, we’ll send someone over for handover immediately!”

”Understood, we’re organizing forces for the arrest right now!”

Ending the call, Li Jian couldn’t hide his excitement.

”Finally, we can put a perfect end to this case!”

”Let’s go, prepare to head to Chuan City to escort the suspect!”

Jiang An hesitated a bit: ”Captain, do I need to go as well?”

”Of course!”

Li Jian slapped Jiang An’s shoulder heavily, ”You’re the key contributor!”

”It’s a perfect chance to see Chuan City; this season’s scenery is quite beautiful over there.”
