Chapter 628: Chapter 348: Jiang An’s Unique Perspective (Part 2)

”Cross-referencing the analysis of individuals with previous robbery convictions?”

”The victim’s motorcycle and body were thrown into the river at the same time, and there were no bruises on the body. Could one person really manage that?”

After Zhang Yean spoke, both the instructor and Captain Li Jian nodded, clearly intrigued by this line of thought.

Li Jian stood up and said, ”Indeed, if this case is established as a robbery-murder, it couldn’t have been done by one person.”

”The victim was fairly well-built, and with no bruises, it suggests that one person couldn’t have done it alone.”

He paused, looking around the group, and continued, ”The only possibility for the victim not to resist during a robbery is if the assailant had overwhelming strength.”

Then Zhang Yean said, ”In that case, we could incite them against one another.”

”Encourage them to reveal each other, compete for credit, there might be unexpected results.”

”It’s a good idea!”

Instructor Zhang Chao pondered, but his expression remained serious, ”But it might not be very effective in practice.”

He turned to Li Jian, ”Are we really going to re-interrogate those few people?”

After saying this, Li Jian did not respond immediately.

Having been personally involved in interrogating those with past robbery records, he knew that the interrogations had not pointed to any suspects.

With that, the meeting room fell silent.

Everyone looked at each other, faces full of concern.

Even Jiang An wore a serious expression, deep in thought.

He pondered a question: Where could the breakthrough in this case be found?

In past difficult cases, he always found a breakthrough under emergency circumstances.

But this case was indeed quite confounding.

After a long pause, Li Jian and Instructor Zhang Chao turned their gaze to Jiang An.

Li Jian somberly said, ”Mr. Jiang, your thinking is always active.”

”And you were the first to point out issues in this case.”

”Now that the investigation is progressing as you anticipated, share your thoughts.”

Jiang An paused slightly and said solemnly, ”Captain, I have always maintained that this case is a robbery-murder.”

”It now seems more likely.”

”The victim’s 20,000 yuan is missing; if the person involved in gambling hadn’t revealed this fact, we might not have known.”

”Even his family wouldn’t have known about it.”

Li Jian and Instructor Zhang Chao nodded, ”That indeed makes sense.”

”Not only the victim’s family, but even we almost let this clue be buried in the old case.”

”Previously, I thought the amount of money on the victim was too small to be conclusive, but suddenly he indeed lost a large sum.”

”Three years ago, 20,000 yuan was considered a significant amount of cash locally.”

While Jiang An spoke, the others nodded in agreement.

Especially Wan and Zhang Yean – having followed Jiang An around closely, they naturally understood and agreed with his thought process.

If it weren’t for Jiang An’s insistence, this case might have long gone cold, possibly even left undiscovered.

Then Jiang An looked around and said seriously, ”So, regarding this case, I have my own idea.”

Upon hearing this, Captain Li Jian’s eyes suddenly gleamed.

For this old case, he had already given his all back then.

Especially Instructor Zhang Chao, who had been at the forefront relentlessly.

At this point, it would be highly unlikely for them to change their thinking and find a new breakthrough.

The only potential source for new clues might come from the thought process of a newcomer.

Zhang Yean also came over and patted Jiang An on the shoulder, saying, ”Junior, go ahead and speak.”

Jiang An nodded and said, ”Actually, my thoughts differ somewhat from everyone else’s.”

Li Jian nodded, saying, ”You don’t have to be concerned; just speak your mind.”

”At this point, any possibility suggested could turn out to be the truth.”

With these words, Jiang An immediately said, ”I’ve been pondering one question for the past few days.”

”On one hand, although we’ve classified it as a robbery-murder, the characteristics aren’t obvious.”

”Mainly exemplified in two aspects.”

”Firstly, robbery-murder often involves violent struggle.”

”But why are there no bruises on the victim’s body?”

”Moreover, there are no combat injuries at all.”

”What Zhang Yean suggested just now is also a possibility.”

”The suspects might have had significant strength, say, three people or more than two.”

”The suspects might even have had guns or violent weapons, deterring the victim from resisting.”

”Even when faced with great danger, the victim couldn’t resist entirely.”

”Perhaps only complying would have given him any chance of survival.”

”Secondly, regarding the loss of the victim’s money.”

”Reviewing the past, I handled few robbery cases, but I heard or learned about many.””

”In my understanding, robbers typically execute the robbery in one go.”

”For instance, they might take the entire wallet, sometimes even the deceased’s gold and silver jewelry would be taken.”

”However, in this case, I didn’t see any such behavior.”

”The robber not only left some small change for the victim, but also didn’t take his phone.”

”Notably, they pushed his motorcycle into the river. Why?”

”Even if they didn’t intend to rob the motorcycle, we must acknowledge that a second-hand 125 motorcycle was worth one to two thousand at that time; wasn’t it valuable?”

”Therefore, I think that in this case, both in terms of financial theft and the condition of the body, it’s quite peculiar.”

”It seems the perpetrator didn’t commit the crime thoroughly.”

”Why is that? I’ve constantly been thinking about the perpetrator’s mindset during the crime.”

”But I just can’t figure it out. How do we explain such a unique robbery act?”

Hearing this, the others looked at each other, pondering the internal connections.

Captain Li Jian and Instructor Zhang Chao exchanged glances and nodded at each other.

One must admit, Jiang An made very valid points.

It was indeed these strange features—previously dismissed—that now seemed mysterious.

Wan and Zhang Yean were instantly impressed by Jiang An’s analysis and perspective.

Zhang Yean discreetly gave a thumbs up, ”Captain Jiang, this analysis has broadened my understanding of case analysis.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An’s mouth slightly twitched upwards, ”I now have one hypothesis, is it possible...”

He paused for a moment, and the people present all turned their gaze on him.

”Go on! Say it!”

Urged everyone.

Even Captain Li Jian and Instructor Zhang Chao wore expectant expressions.

Jiang An solemnly said, ”I now strongly suspect, is it possible that there is a connection between the victim and the suspect?”

”Oh?” Captain Li Jian and Instructor Zhang Chao were momentarily stunned.

Li Jian said, ”You mean... an inside job?”

Jiang An nodded slightly and said, ”We can’t rule out that possibility.”

”Moreover, this robbery-murder is very peculiar...”

”Have you noticed—after the suspect committed the robbery, they only left the victim in the water.”

”The cause of death indicates the victim drowned, showing that he was still able to breathe when he fell into the water.”

”I believe the perpetrator threw the victim into the water, even pushed the motorcycle, primarily to buy time to escape.”

Instantly, the others were left stunned, their minds deeply contemplating Jiang An’s recent words.

After a long pause, Wan suddenly clapped his hands and said, ”It makes sense, totally makes sense!”

Zhang Yean also beamed, saying, ”Wow! This analysis completely shifts my understanding of case analysis!”

Captain Li Jian and Instructor Zhang Chao finally relaxed their brows, looking at Jiang An with admiration in their eyes.
