The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 630: Chapter 349: Launching a Full-Scale Investigation! (2)

”It’s not to ensure the victim is undoubtedly dead, but to prevent the victim from pursuing immediately or preserving evidence at the scene.”

Jiang An’s voice became more resolute, ”Therefore, I suggest that all social relationships of the deceased before death be thoroughly investigated, especially those who came in contact with the deceased on the day of the incident.”

”According to preliminary investigations, the deceased suddenly received that 20,000 yuan in cash on the day of the incident, and the number of people who knew about this money is very few, not even the family knew.”

”This means that among those who came into contact with the deceased that day, the real culprit is very likely hidden.”

This peeling analytical observation made Li Jian and Zhang Chao nod repeatedly, ”Tight logic, very convincing.”

Sitting next to them, Wan and Zhang Yean couldn’t help but show expressions of admiration.

Jiang An finally concluded, ”Captain, instructor, these are my two suggestions for the next step of solving this case.”

He closed the folder in his hand, speaking sincerely, ”I ask for your guidance and corrections.”

Hardly had the words fallen when Instructor Zhang Chao immediately nodded in agreement, noting down the points quickly as he responded, ”Captain Jiang’s analysis just now was indeed very apt, hitting every key point.”

”Both Mr. Li and I felt inspired after hearing it just now; this thought process points us in the right direction for our follow-up investigations.”

Li Jian lifted his head at these words, his gaze sweeping between the instructor and Jiang An?

He then solemnly said, ”The instructor is right, I fully agree with the viewpoints Captain Jiang proposed.”

Especially the part about the motive and suspect profiling; it indeed captures the core issue of this case.”

Saying that, he turned to the instructor and added, ”What do you think?”

The instructor put down the pen in his hand, crossing his hands on the conference table.

He said seriously, ”I have no objections whatsoever.”

”Captain Jiang’s analysis is not only logically tight but also considers many details we previously overlooked.”

”To be honest, this case has been dragging on for so long, and now we finally see a glimmer of hope for a breakthrough.”

The atmosphere in the conference room became lively due to this conversation.

Li Jian cleared his throat and continued, ”Since everyone agrees with Captain Jiang’s basic thought process, then I might need to add a crucial point.”

”Besides the elements Captain Jiang just mentioned, I think we need to focus on investigating everyone who contacted the deceased that day.”

”Particularly focusing on whether they experienced severe financial difficulties before and after the incident.”

At this point, Li Jian paused, looking around at everyone, explained, ”Don’t underestimate this 20,000 yuan.”

”Even if it doesn’t seem like much now, in rural areas three years ago, it was definitely a huge sum.”

”You should know, back then, many villagers depended on the weather for their living, and their annual income might not reach that amount.”

”Since the suspect dared to risk everything, it indicates he must have encountered insurmountable financial trouble then.”

Instructor Zhang Chao quickly took notes while nodding frequently.

After Li Jian finished speaking, he immediately responded, ”Mr. Li, your addition is really timely!”

”Captain Jiang approached it from a psychological perspective of criminal analysis, and Mr. Li emphasized analyzing the suspect’s financial motives, these two approaches complementing each other perfectly.”

Saying this, he smiled at the two, ”You two captains are working together so seamlessly, it seems this case will be solved soon.”

Hearing this, Li Jian and Jiang An exchanged a smile.

You need to know, before this, the two often held different opinions on the direction of solving the case.

At this moment, reaching a consensus made the whole team feel encouraged.

Li Jian sat back down, speaking seriously, ”Time is tight, now that the direction is clear, we should take immediate action.”

I suggest dividing the criminal investigation team into three squads to advance from different angles simultaneously.”

He opened his notebook and detailed the assignments, ”The first squad, led by the instructor, will focus on investigating all gun trade records before and after the incident and within the past three years.”

”I will lead the second squad, investigating the deceased’s social relationships, retracing everyone he came into contact with on the day of the incident.”

”The third squad, led by Captain Jiang and Wan, will specifically investigate whether those familiar with the deceased had financial difficulties, family illnesses, or sudden large expenses before and after the incident.”

After the tasks were assigned, the police officers in the conference room immediately got into action.

The instructor took the first squad to the archives room to review the data.

Li Jian began contacting the second squad members to assign tasks.

Jiang An, Wan, and Zhang Yean returned to the office to make final preparations.

In the office, Wan took a sip from his teacup and asked, ”Captain Jiang, when are we setting out?”

Jiang An looked up and replied, ”We’ll leave right away.”

Hearing this, Zhang Yean, who was organizing equipment, came over and said with a smile, ”Junior Brother, your performance at the meeting just now was brilliant! Those analyses were even more thorough than the case studies our university professors taught, truly impressive!”

Jiang An smiled wryly and shook his head, ”No matter how brilliant the analyses are, they don’t mean the case can be solved.”

”This case has dragged on for three years; the victim’s family is still waiting for the truth; the burden on our shoulders is heavy.”

”At least now the direction is clear.”

Zhang Yean patted Jiang An’s shoulder, ”Just like you said, solving the case should be just around the corner.”

The three of them walked out of the office, chatting and laughing, the atmosphere tense yet full of anticipation.

Arriving at the police car, Wan skillfully got into the driver’s seat, fastened his seatbelt, and asked, ”Captain Jiang, where’s our first stop?”

Jiang An opened the case files, pondered for a moment, and said, ”The deceased’s movements are not yet clear, and the information we have is limited.”

”We’ll start by investigating the people who dined together that night.”

He pointed to a record in the files and said, ”Let’s start with the organizer of the gathering, Li Chuang, and through him, understand the information of other participants.”

”Understood!”

Wan started the car, ”Then let’s visit Li Chuang again and see if this best friend of the deceased during his lifetime can provide any new clues.”

minutes later, the police car slowly parked in front of Li Chuang’s house.

The car hadn’t fully stopped when Li Chuang already poked his head out from the yard, watching.

Recognizing Jiang An and his group, he immediately hurried to meet them, ”Captain Jiang, are you here to investigate Mr. Zhang’s case again?”

Jiang An nodded in greeting, ”Yes, we might need to take up more of your time this time.”

Li Chuang quickly waved his hand, ”Don’t say that.”

”It’s my privilege to help when a friend has passed unclearly.”

”Come, let’s talk in the yard, whatever you need to know, I’ll tell you everything I know.”

Saying this, he warmly guided everyone into the yard.

After settling down by the stone table in the yard, Jiang An went straight to the point, ”You were the deceased’s best friend during his life.”

”I want to know, among those who dined together that night, whose financial situation was the most difficult? Or, who was most in need of money?”

This question evidently caught Li Chuang off guard.

He frowned and thought for a long while before hesitantly speaking, ”Captain Jiang, this question...”

”Frankly, none of us were rich.”

”As for who needed money the most, maybe we all did. Which particular aspect of difficulty are you referring to?”

Jiang An immediately realized his question was unclear and promptly added, ”What I mean is, among those who dined together, was there anyone whose family encountered special circumstances urgently needing money?”

”Like a family member getting sick, or a business failing?”

Li Chuang’s expression grew even more confused, he scratched his head, ”These things... if the person doesn’t say, it’s hard for outsiders to know, right?”

Feeling his response was not cooperative enough, he quickly explained, ”Captain Jiang, it’s not that I don’t want to help, but as you know, every family has its difficulties, even though we’re friends gathering, we won’t intentionally inquire about these private matters.”

Jiang An nodded to express understanding and promptly changed his question, ”From another perspective, do you think there’s anyone who might urgently need money and also knew the deceased had money on him that day?”
