The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 609: Chapter 340: Courage Born of Shame! (Part 2)

”Our purpose as detectives is to solve cases and uphold justice in society.”

”However, in handling one death case after another, we always aim to uncover the truth and bring justice to the deceased.”

”Yet,” Mr. Ma shook his head, and said, ”in this case, we’ve hit a snag.”

”Although the perpetrator has not been apprehended, I believe the characterisation from back then might be completely wrong.”

At this point, many people present showed confused expressions on their faces.

Everyone was wondering why the case had suddenly been brought up again, and why its conclusion had been denied once more.

It’s important to know that many people were involved in this case back then.

After a brief silence, some detectives turned their gaze to Jiang An.

When it comes to involvement and discussion of this case, the only change is that a new team member has joined the detective team.

And this newcomer is none other than Deputy Team Leader Jiang An, who is exceptionally skilled at solving cases.

At this moment, Mr. Ma’s voice resounded once more.

”Actually, I was very surprised that this case was brought up again.”

”The victim’s family personally sought out Deputy Leader Jiang An.”

”Because during the last ’Most Beautiful Detective’ selection, Jiang An’s deeds were exposed.”

”Of course, this also reflects Jiangcheng residents’ trust in criminal investigation, and their trust in Jiang An.”

”We should feel very honored and proud; at least in the hearts of the people of Jiangcheng, there is someone in the detective team they absolutely trust.”

”Moreover, Jiang An is indeed excellent and has not disappointed the people’s expectations of him.”

”He was able to pinpoint the key points of the case and point out our errors in a very short time, which is also a positive feedback for them.”

”For us, it’s like catching ourselves before we fall off a cliff.”

After a slight pause, Mr. Ma said, ”Today, as the team leader of this special task force, with Mr. Jiang as the deputy team leader, we’ve specially organized the first meeting.”

”The purpose of today’s meeting is to bring this case to attention, investigate it again, and treat this old case as if it were a current one.”

”This case has dragged on for a long time, and there might be many traces and evidence, even suspicious individuals that are hard to investigate.”

”But we must give 100% of our effort and put in 100% of our hard work.”

”It’s not just about solving a case, it’s also a way to make amends for the past mistakes.”

He then turned to Jiang An and said, ”Now, I’ll hand over the time to Jiang An, so he can brief us on tomorrow’s work.”

Jiang An paused slightly, took the microphone, and said, ”Comrades, I’ll just say a few simple points.”

”As far as this case is concerned, I personally find the deception to be very strong.”

He paused briefly, then continued, ”Firstly, a large amount of alcohol was detected in the body, enough to reach a state of intoxication.”

”Moreover, the deceased was driving a motor vehicle. The motorcycle gear was still in position, indicating it was highly likely the person was in a driving state.”

”The place where the body was found was also in the direction of home,”

”Furthermore, the cause of death was drowning.”

”These four conditions combined, one can essentially conclude it was an accidental death due to a traffic accident.”

”To some extent, I find the conclusion from back then quite reasonable.”

After another brief pause, Jiang An said solemnly, ”Yesterday, the victim’s family came to me, asking me to take another look at this case.”

”Initially, I didn’t have much hope for this case and was only holding a ’give it a try’ mentality.”

”It was also a response to the family’s request.”

”However, I found a very important piece of evidence, which is the peculiar injury on the back of the deceased.”

”It’s possible that it was caused by a fall from a height, leaving bruising marks.”

”Moreover, there were no typical straddle injuries on the deceased.”

”Although these alone are not enough to change the case’s nature, all the doubts put together form a significant doubt.”

”Just now, Mr. Ma mentioned the characterization of the case was wrong; I think it’s still a bit early.”

”It’s just that there are questions about the case that we need to resolve next.”

”As for the injury on the deceased’s back, a fall from height causing impact with the water is just one possibility.”

”Did this deceased have any Gua Sha activity after drinking before death?”

”This is also something we should discern.”

”After all, according to the forensic injury process, Gua Sha on the back can also cause local subcutaneous bleeding.”

”Therefore, for tomorrow’s work, we need to conduct it in three aspects.”

”Firstly, further research on the nature of the case; we must visit all friends involved in dining and drinking that year and carefully outline the entire process of that night.”

”Is there any other intermediate action after leaving the restaurant?”

”This is something we must clarify.”

”Did anyone send the deceased home?”

”Secondly, we also need to outline how long it took from the dinner place to the incident site that day?”

”During this long period, was it possible the deceased made contact with others?”

”If there was contact with others, who could they be?”

”These are worth exploring.”

Jiang An paused briefly and continued, ”Additionally, I think tomorrow we should also do something more important.”

”That is to outline whether there have been any robberies or thefts occurring within a five-kilometer radius of the crime scene.”

”It’s even necessary to scrutinize delinquent individuals in society to see if they have any criminal suspicion.”

”As for the nature of death in this case, I can’t fully clarify it at the moment.”

”The cell phone of the deceased is present; although the phone is not very valuable, it hasn’t been reported lost.”

”There was a small amount of change in his wallet.”

”So how much money was in his wallet that night?”

”Was there any loss of property?”

”These are also things we must understand tomorrow.”

”These are important factors in determining the nature of the case—whether it was a robbery leading to murder, a revenge killing, or a crime of passion.”

He paused slightly, turned to Mr. Ma, and said, ”Mr. Ma, I’ll just say these few things. Is there anything you would like to add?”

Mr. Ma nodded after listening, looked at the detectives, and said, ”Deputy Team Leader Jiang An has spoken very well just now.”

”The investigation thought process is quite clear, and I fully agree.”

”Although the nature of this case has not been fully determined as homicide.”

”But for now, I think there’s an 80% chance that it is homicide.”

”Therefore, besides the three points Jiang An mentioned, I believe tomorrow’s focus should also be on — why was he killed?”

”Every case occurs for a reason; there must be a motive.”

”Whether this motive is premeditated murder, spontaneous murder, or negligent homicide, there must be a reason.”

”Only by identifying these reasons can we lock onto a specific group, find special individuals, and thus identify the culprit.”

After speaking, he looked at the members of the detective team and continued, ”Comrades, in recent years, under the leadership of Mr. Li and Mr. Zhang, the detective team has solved many major and important cases.”

”However, problems encountered during development are not terrible.”

”Knowing shame and having courage afterward is the principle I always believe in.”

”If the perpetrator of this case has remained at large, then this time we must not fail again.”

”We must decisively capture the perpetrator.”

”Revitalize the spirit of Jiangcheng’s detectives, fulfill our sacred oath, and offer peace to the souls of the deceased!”
