The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 612: Chapter 341: Dare to Go All Out! (3)

”Not really!”

The other party quickly added, ”Because we usually schedule our dinner around 6:30 to 7:00 PM, that’s when everyone is just getting off work and rushing over.”

”Also, the restaurant we chose was just a regular Chinese place, without any entertainment facilities, so once dinner was over, we all dispersed. There were no card games or such activities at the dining place.”

”Did you all go straight home after dinner that night?”

Jiang An pressed, fingers lightly tapping the notebook.

”Yeah, we all went home!”

”During dinner that night, did you notice anything unusual?”

”Or anything out of the ordinary?”

”Unusual things...”

Li Chuang furrowed his eyebrows as he recalled, ”No, not really.”

”I remember we were dining in the main hall, the restaurant’s public area.”

”The atmosphere during dinner was quite good, everyone was chatting and laughing, and there were no conflicts or disputes with others.”

”But...”

He suddenly paused.

”But what?” Jiang An immediately questioned.

”But that night, his spirits were quite high...”

”What do you mean by quite high spirits?”

Jiang An leaned forward slightly, showing keen interest.

”It seemed like he was happier than usual.”

”Are you saying the victim was in a high mood that night? Can you elaborate?”

Jiang An gestured for him to continue.

”Because we often drink together, but he was indeed happier that night.”

”Although I was hosting this time, he specifically said during dinner that he’d host next time, even patted his chest to promise everyone a night to drink to our heart’s content.”

”And he mentioned it several times, appearing especially enthusiastic.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An grew alert, put down his pen, and stared directly at him.

”This is a crucial detail.”

”Did he encounter something particularly joyful or exciting that night?”

”No!”

After hearing this, Jiang An nodded thoughtfully and then asked, ”Did you report this detail to the special investigation team back then?”

”Yes, I did.”

He sighed, ”They didn’t seem to pay special attention to this detail, as the case was treated as a traffic accident, not a homicide, and no one really emphasized it.”

”Thinking about it, everyone has mood swings, like sometimes you and I are in a good mood, and sometimes not so much—it’s quite normal.”

Hearing this, Jiang An was momentarily silent, then turned to look at his seniors sitting nearby, and asked, ”Senior brother, senior sister, do you have anything further to add?”

Wan and Zhang Yean exchanged glances and shook their heads, ”As of now, nothing in particular to add.”

Jiang An was silent for a brief moment before continuing, ”How much do you know about the victim’s personal habits?”

”Did he have any gambling or other bad habits?”

Li Chuang thought for a moment and cautiously replied, ”No bad habits really, just regular stuff for pastime.”

”We occasionally like to fish or play small card games for fun.”

”But it’s all minor, nothing illegal or against the rules.”

”Card games? Where do you typically play?” Jiang An pursued.

”Oh, sometimes we play at a small mahjong parlor near our neighborhood.”

”Other times we go to dedicated game centers.”

”Do those game centers still exist?” Jiang An confirmed.

Li Chuang shook his head, ”No, they were later shut down.”
