Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 572: Deducing the Seventh Rank

The seventh rank was flawed.

But it did the job in the end.

”It should theoretically scale up. But what is lacking right now is the potential. This technique does not allow an evolver to fully realize their strength.” Grey was deep in thought.

He decided to enter the simulation space and created the most basic and average clone.

This clone had no fundamental talent or anything; he was a flat being. He did not even measure up to 1S while being at the peak of the sixth rank, just like Grey.

Then, he made the clone reach seventh-rank metamorphosis while using the immortal technique the Yellow Ancestor gave him.

The immortal technique made the clone precisely reach 1S, 1A, and 1D.

And this just hit the core area of the clone’s origin core.

Meaning, this was the absolute bare minimum strength this clone with zero potential could hit.

Out of curiosity, he decided to acquire the seventh-rank strengthening technique for the martial path as well.

Much to his surprise, the result was exactly the same.

He went to meet Alan immediately and asked him for his esper technique.

The result was still the same.

Grey was taken aback when he realized this.

In the end, he decided to ask Alan himself.

”Where I took inspiration for the seventh-rank mind strengthening?” Alan was thoughtful.

Grey nodded. It was clear that the major paths all took inspiration from the exact same source because of how similar their core pattern of strengthening was.

”I got it from an ancient evolver of this world. He was a Star Beast that made an evolutionary path for himself.”

”A Star Beast?” Grey was stunned.

”Yes.” Alan nodded. ”But from what I know, he had some special means to acquire it.”

”He only appeared once in history, but he was the one who pioneered the seventh-rank’s strengthening effect and improved it.”

”It was simple enough to copy and achieve exponential results, and when the scholars looked at it, there was no better way to go about it. I felt the same way; hence I chose this base for the creation of the seventh-rank esper strengthening.”

”No one knows where he is right now. Some say he already ascended to a higher world. Some say he is still around in this universe comprehending something.”

”What happened, Master Grey? Is there something wrong with this?”

”Yes. It is so fundamentally flawed I do not even know what to say.”

”What?” Alan was taken aback hearing this.

”You can go for now. I am going to improve this technique.”

As he said that, he went straight back into the simulation space.

He knew exactly why this power was flawed.

The energy expenditure here was huge, and it only increased exponentially with each level.

Grey began meticulously calculating the cost and, in the end, was left completely shocked.

”Fuck, if I really do make this technique achieve its true potential, by the seventh level of this technique it would need several universes’ worth of energy to power it.”

”W-What the hell are you making now?” The Origin Will, who was spying on Grey like usual, was stunned hearing this and asked, completely taken aback.

Grey grinned hearing her.

”A technique that will suck you dry and destroy the universe in the process.”

”Have you heard about the tale of Fu Tian? He was a guy that got bullied by the universe and everyone in it. Then, he played the good guy and made a powerful technique that could make everyone strong fast. But in reality, it was a technique that stole from the universe, and the sheer number of people using it at once completely used up all the ambient energy. The universe blew up before the Origin Will even had time to react.”

”What. You made that up. You goddamn liar.” The Origin Will materialized in front of him and rolled her eyes.

Grey burst out laughing.

”What I said, however, is partially true. This apocalyptic scenario can realistically be achieved if I can effectively put the Origin Will into a coma for a while and mass-control the entire universe to use the technique at once.”

”The sheer numbers would make the universe blow up from a lack of energy.”

The Origin Will shivered hearing this.

This man, why does he harbor dangerous thoughts like this?

Considering Grey, she could genuinely see him blowing up a universe just for fun.

”Okay, now go away. Let me deduce a way to not suck this universe dry of resources when my path striders use the technique to strengthen themselves in the future.”

Grey shooed the Origin Will away as he focused.

The energy expenditure was immense. Usually, his Chaos Lotus automatically analyzed all known techniques he had and passively reduced their energy cost. But it did not work this time.

Then, he suddenly thought of something.

This something was the very first thing he acquired when he stepped into this world.

The first formation he ever bought.

The Cosmic Energy Conversion Formation Diagram.

He got it first, and it wasted a lot of energy initially, but he used a specific principle to keep it from wasting too much energy.

The Principle of the Golden Ratio.

It was the mathematical concept governing perfect balance.

The Golden Ratio was his main source of power. His evolutionary path, his Nexus Overclock, his formations, they all shared one common thing: the Golden Ratio.

Everything inherently took its form, including natural disasters and galaxies. Hell, his Nexus energy itself was a Golden Ratio.

It all led back to where it all started.

And he also mixed that with a brand new effect.

Grey was inspired.

His mind began rapidly combining insights and techniques of the seventh rank.

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing the underlying rules of the Golden Ratio, you have gained insight into the way of creating a flawless seventh-rank technique.]

His seventh-rank technique was still incomplete, of course.

Right now, only the energy expenditure problem had been solved.

And the way it was solved was by using the Golden Ratio and the ripple effect.
