Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1600: Chapter 1600: Adding Frost to Snow

”Don’t beat around the bush! Just say it!” At this point, what worse could happen?

What else is there that she cannot handle?

”The people from the Industrial and Commercial Bureau are here, right downstairs...” said Secretary Zhang.

”The Industrial and Commercial Bureau...” Guan Qing felt a sharp stab in her heart, ”What? What are they here for? Are they coming to shut down my shop? I’m not going down, you deal with it!”

She was seething with pent up anger, ready to blow at the smallest trigger.

”Okay then!” Secretary Zhang left the office, trembling as he made his way downstairs.

Encountering the Industrial and Commercial Bureau was a troublesome matter indeed; every business person knows they are to be feared, and an encounter with them never bodes well.

After Secretary Zhang went downstairs, Guan Qing paced the room anxiously.

If she didn’t come up with a solution now, things would be dire. She couldn’t just watch as her hard work was shut down.

She picked up the phone on the desk and dialed her father’s number. It rang for a long time before someone answered.

”Hello?”

Hearing her father’s voice, Guan Qing’s eyes instantly reddened: ”Dad, it’s Qingqing!”

”Qingqing? Why are you calling me at this time?” General Guan took off his military cap and leaned back in his chair.

”Dad, you have to help me...” Guan Qing started to choke up and couldn’t continue.

”What’s the matter?” General Guan’s heart trembled, and he asked, ”Is it a conflict with Zhiyuan?”

The mention of it opened the floodgates, and Guan Qing’s tears fell freely. She burst into tears over the phone: ”Dad...”

Nobody was in a worse state than she was!

When facing a crisis in her business, all four store managers abandoned her! At her most upset and most vulnerable, the man she had long cherished, her husband Hen Zhiyuan, ignored her, lost in his own world of sorrow, unable to snap out of it.

Moreover, the situation was exacerbated by the Industrial and Commercial Bureau downstairs. What could she do?

Their arrival meant certain closure, fines, and orders for business suspension and rectification.

She was a businesswoman, without business how could she make money? How would she afford food and drink?

”Qingqing, my good child, what’s wrong? Talk to daddy,” General Guan’s heart ached as he listened to his daughter’s crying.

”Dad, I’ve been set up. My company and properties are facing the threat of bankruptcy, can you help me?” sobbed Guan Qing.

”What? Didn’t you say just a while ago that the business was booming? That you were going to make a fortune this year. Are you telling me that was a lie?” General Guan questioned.

”No, business was indeed booming until recently, but everything plummeted drastically these past few days...” Guan Qing had to explain the situation to her father to get his help.

However, when she had first expressed her desire to do business, her father had clearly instructed her.

He told her that in business she must take the proper path, never entertain dishonest schemes.

Her father’s military connections were off-limits for her business deals! She was not allowed to use his name, much less mentioning it for favors.

If she wanted to do business, it had to be done honestly. Whatever other merchants did, she should do the same, avoiding using his name to smooth things over with various departments in the city – that was absolutely forbidden!
