Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1562: Chapter 1462: Getting Closer to the Truth

Lin Qiushu didn’t care what the old woman had hidden, nor did she care about what she might have wanted to say but didn’t. What she cared about was the person who was pretending to be crippled.

”Auntie, Wang the cripple isn’t detailed enough. How can I look up that name? Can you tell me her full name?” Lin Qiushu asked.

”The full name has been forgotten by everyone. But the name of the cripple is known to all... Miss, this is all I can tell you.”

”Then... okay.” Lin Qiushu stood up a bit disappointedly and said to Jiu Xia, ”You should rest well, ma’am! I won’t bother you any longer.”

”Go on. Go on...” Jiu Xia spoke twice and then fell silent.

When Lin Qiushu and Xiaoshan said their goodbyes, they heard a panicked voice coming from the house: ”Xiaoshan, Granny is gone...”

The old woman had passed away, and Lin Qiushu and the other two lit incense for Jiu Xia, expressed their mourning, and then left.

As they were descending the mountain, An Hao noticed that Lin Qiushu was in a bad mood: ”What’s wrong? Not enough clues?”

”There are. It’s just the same as having none,” Lin Qiushu said gloomily, ”Back then when we were looking for Jiu Xia, at least we had a proper name. But now, we just have a codename called Wang the cripple! How are we supposed to find him?”

”Indeed. It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack,” An Hao looked at Lin Qiushu with sympathy.

”You’re wrong,” Qin Jian suddenly spoke up, ”The cripple is his most obvious characteristic, it’s his label. It’s not hard to find him. Tell me, how many people could there have been who were cripples from the past till now?”

”You say that, and I’ve suddenly seen the light. Moreover, it’s a cripple with a label – gamblers!” Lin Qiushu immediately grabbed the key point from Qin Jian’s words.

”Now, doesn’t that make it much easier? All those informants you have are just wasting away for nothing,” Qin Jian said with a smirk on his face.

Lin Qiushu was a bit embarrassed: ”I didn’t mean for them to follow you and An Hao on purpose. It’s just that I really wanted to know about the origins of the bracelet, and I had to resort to some special tactics.”

”Just kidding.”

”Right,” An Hao, who had been listening to their conversation, suddenly remembered something, ”Qiushu, do you remember my mother-in-law once said she seemed to have heard the name Jiu Xia somewhere?”

”I remember. But didn’t she remember it already?” If Zhang Yun could know this, it would be fantastic; the key was she couldn’t remember.

”No worries. I’ll go back and ask her again. Since she said she heard the name Jiu Xia, it means she must know something. We, the younger generation, don’t know about things from a long time ago, but I believe they do,” An Hao said.

”Okay. I’ll have to trouble you a lot with this,” Lin Qiushu said.

”Don’t mention it. It’s rare that we get along so well.”

”If only we were sisters. I’d like to have a sister like you,” Lin Qiushu looked at An Hao and said.

”I’m just a country girl. How can I compare with a refined miss from a prestigious family like you?” An Hao joked in response.

”Who says so? Look at your temperament, like an orchid; it doesn’t seem like you’re from the countryside at all. That confidence and ease, it seems innate,” Lin Qiushu wasn’t just flattering; in her eyes, An Hao was truly like that.

”Don’t tease me,” An Hao got a bit embarrassed and gently patted Lin Qiushu on the shoulder, ”Let’s go, the mountain road is still long.”
