Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1084: Chapter 1084 I Leave Her to You

”Interning in General Surgery with an expert surgeon is naturally a good thing,” An Hao considered and then said, ”But I really don’t want to attract all kinds of unwanted attention from Director Ji! I’m hoping for some peaceful days. Please, Director Ji, could you help clear the way for me?”

”Should I take that as a compliment for being handsome and dashing?” Ji Chuan laughed heartily, ”I love hearing that! Don’t worry, with Director Ji watching over you, you won’t have any trouble.”

Such a narcissist!

An Hao looked at him wearing a military uniform under his white coat and silently wondered whether these guys had graduated from a military academy or something. They were even showier than Cheng Yue.

After settling down An Hao and Lei Linxuan, Ji Chuan and Yan Ye made their way to the rooftop.

Ji Chuan pulled out a cigarette from his pocket and offered it to Yan Ye: ”Is this Miss An Hao your proud protégé?”

”Yeah,” Yan Ye took a drag of the cigarette, found it harsh, and quickly stubbed it out: ”Who smokes this stuff?”

Ji Chuan chuckled twice and patted Yan Ye’s shoulder: ”Your reputation has already spread throughout the hospital! Some say you’re overly protective of her. Others are saying she’s going to be the future Mrs. Yan! Is there any truth to that? Come on, spill the beans!”

”I wish she were,” Yan Ye didn’t hide his affection for An Hao in front of Ji Chuan, but it was an affection untinged by any improper desire or ill-intent, ”But she’s married. I missed my chance!”

”What? Married so soon? That’s a pity. She seemed quite a match for you.”

”Her husband is a better match for her than I am,” Yan Ye collected his thoughts and said to Ji Chuan, ”I’m entrusting her to you. Take good care of her; she’s a rare surgical talent.”

”That’s easy! Don’t worry! I will pour all my knowledge into fortifying her foundation,” Ji Chuan assured Yan Ye, pounding his chest with his hand.

Ruan Fangfang returned home and shut herself in her room, despondent.

She refused to come out for the whole evening.

Worried that she might do something rash, Ma Mei stood outside knocking constantly on the door: ”Fangfang, open the door! Your aunt has something to say to you.”

”Auntie, go away. I just want some peace,” said Ruan Fangfang, overwhelmed by the day’s events.

How could she have not anticipated that her own aunt, despite her position in the department, could not protect her?

To think she had been outdone by An Hao.

In retrospect, she should have been crueler—crippling An Hao’s right hand, so she wouldn’t be a threat.

”Fangfang! Don’t be so hasty. I’ll talk to your uncle and see if we can arrange a meeting with the hospital director. Let’s try to ensure you can stay at the hospital. As for staying in cardiac surgery, that’s not important, okay?” Ma Mei called out through the door.

”Do I still have a chance?”

”Of course! If that weren’t the case, they would have announced your departure from the hospital already. Why else would they deliberate for another week?” Ma Mei explained.

”I see,” Ruan Fangfang dried her tears, and her mood immediately improved.

In the living room.

Hen Zhiyuan was engrossed in a game of chess, playing against himself.

Ma Mei approached him and offered a cup of hot tea: ”Still playing? Take a break. Let’s discuss Fangfang’s issue.”

Hen Zhiyuan frowned: ”What now? Your niece really isn’t easy to deal with, is she?”

”What’s that? You’re annoyed?” Ma Mei’s face darkened, ”Have you forgotten how my sister and brother-in-law died? If it wasn’t for saving your life, they wouldn’t have left this world and abandoned Fangfang.”
