The Gods would once more rule over this world, it was not an overstatement.

If nothing else, the return of the Spear of Fate alone had elevated Balthazar from Early-Stage Tier-6 to Late-Stage Tier-6. That alone was enough to speak volumes of its terrifying power.

Across the starry skies, Late-Stage Tier-6s were exceedingly rare.

Only a few were known to the public, like the Eastern Sectors’s Dream Dragon, or the Seven-Colored Divine Phoenix.

And now, the ruler of the Pantheon of Light, one of the Nine Pantheons of the Gods, had reached that same terrifying realm.

So, it was not surprising that he had the confidence to traverse the Sectors and appear before the Angel Clan.

…

“You have no other choice.”

A cold smirk presented itself on Balthazar’s face. He no longer bothered to hide his true intent.

“Come. Let us fight. If you lose, then you will obey the Ancient Covenant.”

“What did you say!?” Seraphim and Michael’s expression distorted drastically, as they exchanged glanced. Both of their faces had darkened with fury.

The Ancient Covenant, it was a stain etched deep into the Bloodline of the Angel Clan.

Signing it with that former generation’s God of Light was one thing…

After all, that God of Light had been a Half-Step Supreme, akin to the immortal Half-Step Eternals.

To sign a contract with such a being was no shame.

But the successive God of Lights that followed, some of them hadn’t even broken through to the Realm of Hegemony, yet still dared to dream of enslaving the entire Angel Clan.

And now this one, his arrogance was on a whole new level. He was merely at the Late-Stage Tier-6.

“You’re courting death!” Roared Seraphim in fury, his eyes turning biting cold.

At the same time, his six bright and pristine holy wings slowly unfurled, a sign that the Patriarch of the Angel Clan had been enraged to his very limit.

[A mere Tier-6 dares to enslave the entire Angel Clan!? How dare he!? Even if you’re the current God of Light, so what?] With these thoughts flashing in his mind, Seraphim transformed into a golden streak of light, charging forth with righteous fury.

“Is the Patriarch of the Angel Clan this quick to lose his composure?”

Balthazar’s voice was filled with mockery. He remained entirely unfazed by Seraphim’s assault.

After all, as the God of Light, he understood the Angel Clan down to their very bones.

The Serap Bloodline, especially, had once been the personal guard of the God of Light.

So, Balthazar knew every move, every strike from inside out.

“God said, let there be light.” The same words as before, calmly left Balthazar’s tongue, but this time, their target was different.

As if his words became the very law, brilliant light surged forth in the next instant, much to the horror of countless Angels.

Brilliant beams of light, like a rain of golden arrows, shot straight toward the charging Seraphim.

*Swooosh, swooosh, swooosh…* One after another, beams of light streaked across the stars.

Though they bore the Light Energy most familiar to the Angel Clan, at this moment, it felt utterly foreign.

Such was the power of the God of Light, one of the few existences who could crush the Angel Clan on the level of pure energy.

Some even claimed that the Angels’ affinity for light had originally come from the first God of Light.

Though this remained a legend, it was a testament to the terrifying dominion of the God of Light.

At the very least, when it came to the power of light, the Angels’ greatest strength, they were no match for the God of Light before them.

*Boooom, boooom, boooom…* Thunderous explosions echoed endlessly in succession, engulfing the entirety of this part of the starry skies.

If one looked closely toward the center of the explosions, they would notice that Seraphim had already unfurled all of his six pristine white, radiant wings, shielding himself with all his might.

Yet, despite using the wings as his shield, he was struggling.

Balthazar was extremely terrifying. Every beam of light summoned by him was as mighty as a kilometre-long spear. Each one had enough force to pierce a planet.

And now, tens of thousands of such beams were raining down on Seraphim.

Thus, it was no surprise that Seraphim was barely holding on.

However, just then…

“Now…!” A sudden roar erupted from Seraphim, as he snapped his eyes upward, locking his gaze onto the space behind the God of Light.

And in the very next moment, even the mighty Balthazar, the God of Light himself, showed a flicker of surprise, for a radiant figure with six resplendent wings and wielding a longsword had launched an ambush on him,

It was Archangel Michael, the wielder of the Power of Order.

Against the God of Light, the Angel King Bloodline, beings of pure light, held no true advantage.

In fact, their strength would be greatly diminished in his presence.

At times like these, only the Divine Angel, wielding the enigmatic Power of Order, could serve as their ultimate weapon.

For the Power of Order was no weaker than the Power of Light.

In some ways, it was even more mysterious and unpredictable.

If the Sword of Order pierced Balthazar, even he, the God of Light, could be gravely wounded if caught off guard.

That was why Seraphim had willingly set aside his pride, to become a decoy for this final, desperate strike.

And yet…

*Booooom….* A thunderous clap reverberated across the starry skies, while Seraphim and Michael’s pupils shrank in shock.

Simply because, a thin shield of holy light had appeared between Michael and his target, stopping the Sword of Order in its tracks.

That thin radiance came from none other than the golden halo quietly hovering behind Balthazar’s head.

“I’ve already condensed the Halo of Light. It protects me. Surprise attacks are meaningless against me.” His voice was calm, almost casual, but the sneer tugging at his lips could not be hidden.

And then…

*Snap…* Balthazar snapped his fingers, and out of nowhere, a spear of pure light materialized and struck the nearby Michael.

*Booooom…* A terrifying blast followed, sending the mighty Divine Angel hurtling backward, tumbling across hundreds of thousands of kilometers through the starry sky.

Feathers rained down in his wake, stained with blood that did not belong to Mortals.

…

“So… he truly came prepared…” A bitter chuckle escaped the only female Angel King of Lumina Sanctis, as a helpless look took over her face.

The moment they had sensed the return of the Gods’ greatest legacy, they knew this day would come.

They just had not expected it to come so soon.

And now, if they could not force back this God of Light in time, he would awaken the brand buried deep within the Angel Clan’s Bloodline.

Even if not all, ten or twenty percent of the Angel Clan could become his thralls.

That was what made the First God of Light so terrifying. He had etched the covenant directly into their very blood.

It was like the great Bloodlines of the Human Race. If awakened, it could lead one to ascend in a single step.

Except, for the Angel Clan, this was no divine blessing. It was an accursed Bloodline.

Once awakened, it would force a contract upon the bearer.

Those at Tier-5 or Tier-6 could resist it, but the weaker Clansman… they would succumb to it.

Thinking of this, Lan slowly reached into her robes.

And in the next moment, a golden feather appeared in her hand, a feather inscribed with mysterious, otherworldly runes.

This was the sacred token of the Fifth Angel King, the most enigmatic figure of the entire Angel Clan.

And now, the Angel Clan needed his return!
