Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 588: Defeat The Boss

”Aunt Changyue.”

”Yes.” Xian Changyue immediately ordered their group members to attack the chimera beast. ”Attack the beast! Zhang Fei can avoid your attacks, so you donʼt need to hold back.”

Ye Zhiqiu and the others nodded in agreement, and they used combined attacks like before to attack the chimera beast. The groups of Li Yao, Xian Qifeng, and Bai Chongxi also joined the attack.

Bai Tianʼer used her soul attack as usual, but she used a different technique. When she released her cultivation soul, it shot toward the beast instantly. However, she was shocked to see the nine terrifying creatures that Zhang Fei had summoned, all of which were mindlessly attacking the beast by repeatedly biting, tearing, and stabbing. Her soul immediately shot into the beastʼs body and tried to control it from within, causing its movements to become sluggish.

Unlike their group, Xian Yu forbade his brother and their group members from helping them, especially since they hoped that they would die at the hands of the chimera beast, especially Xian Xianqin and Xian Xianwu. This way, Xian Feng and Shi Qingzhuang would be weakened by their deaths, and their father could return to their kingdom to take it over from them.

Long Chen and Long Tian immediately led their group members to attack the chimera beast from a distance, and the two of them repeatedly unleashed their dragon roars, followed by several large fireballs.

Xi Xianzi felt annoyed because her light techniques were useless in that darkness, especially since it was simply too dark and swallowed her light.

Jin Dabao continued to use his earth technique to manipulate the ground beneath the chimera beast, and he also tried to restrain its movement by restraining its four legs with earth mounds.

Unlike Xi Xianzi, Xian Jinglanʼs light technique was still quite significant in the darkness, and she combined it with her wood element to create several trees around the chimera beast, which immediately attacked it.

.

.

.

Ximen Yan also immediately moved towards the chimera beast to attack it from close range, and Qian Ying naturally followed her master to attack it.

Zhou Tong was actually too lazy to fight the chimera beast, preferring to use their situation to capture Xian Xianqin and Yun Xinyue. However, Ximen Yan ordered him to join him and Qian Ying. Since his father had long sworn allegiance to the demons, he had no choice but to join them.

.

.

.

Ximen Hongwu led their subordinates to fight it. They were not soul cultivators, and the beast was simply stronger than them; they chose to use long-range attacks instead of close-range attacks.

Ximen Yueliang sat far behind them, keeping her eyes fixed on Xian Xianwu as her mind raced to come up with a plan to capture him. Unfortunately, the Xian Prince was surrounded by so many people, and they were more experienced than her in fighting. Furthermore, Xian Changyue was also with them; even her parents did not dare to underestimate her, let alone her.

ʼTch! The situation was really unfavorable since we entered this maze, so I had to think of another way to capture him.ʼ Ximen Yueliang suddenly remembered something and pulled out a bottle from her storage ring. As she opened the lid, a small black wasp flew out. She immediately directed the small black wasp towards Xian Xianwu, and it swiftly flew towards him, concealing itself in the darkness. ʼHehe! This way, no one will notice my actions.ʼ

The black wasp quickly arrived at Xian Xianwuʼs back, and it immediately stung his nape, injecting something into his body. Feeling the sting, the Xian Prince immediately slapped it, but it flew away first.

The black wasp then moved to Xian Xianqin and Yun Xinyue before stinging them, and it immediately returned to Ximen Yueliang afterward, causing her to smile in satisfaction. ʼHahaha! The effect wonʼt take effect right away, but it will undoubtedly affect them soon, and they will submit to me.ʼ

Zhang Fei relentlessly attacked the chimera beast with the demon extermination sword, utilizing all his demon techniques, particularly the demon corruption, to further weaken it. His ethereal demon claw also continued to distract the beast, giving him and the other three more freedom to attack it.

Zhang Fei himself has used his enhanced condition ability to increase his speed, physique, and stamina. This way, he wonʼt get tired easily fighting the chimera beast, but he still has to swallow qi recovery pills because his demon techniques drain his qi to maintain the nine dark nether creatures. (A/N: His lust demon abilities, including everything he copied from other demons, donʼt use Qi. His demon cultivation techniques use Qi.)

Zhang Fei had tried using his petrification ability on the chimera beast, but it was completely useless because it never became a stone. Despite his desire to use the soul manipulation ability, he refrained from doing so because the beastʼs soul power had not weakened yet.

The chimera beast possessed by Bai Tianʼerʼs soul seemed overwhelmed to face all their attacks, especially since Zhang Fei also repeatedly used his demon kingʼs roar, instilling fear and confusion in it.

Zhou Tong, who was already in close proximity to the chimera beast, finally recognized Zhang Feiʼs demon techniques. He thought that he had something to do with the Ximen Demon Kingdom, especially since Ximen Yan was clearly trying to protect him.

Qian Ying also noticed Zhang Feiʼs action, but she remained silent and continued to move around, using her two daggers to attack the chimera beast.

After all of them attacked it for several hours, the chimera beast began to show signs of weakening. Zhang Fei immediately moved up to its back, touched it, and used his devouring art to weaken it further.

When the chimera beast realized this, it struggled to throw Zhang Fei off its back. He immediately stabbed the demon extermination sword into its back and channeled his dark-red flames into its body, causing it to let out a furious yet painful roar.

*Roar*

A powerful soul attack, far stronger than the previous ones, instantly swept across the area, causing all non-soul cultivators to collapse to the ground, with some even losing consciousness.

ʼDamn it!ʼ Zhang Fei cursed in his heart, unleashing his dark-red flames as powerfully as possible to burn the chimera beast from within. He also used his plant generation ability to create several poisonous plants throughout the beastʼs entire body. Subsequently, he simultaneously employed his essence absorption technique and demon absorbing technique, drawing in the beastʼs life force, soul force, and essence. ʼA beast with a cultivation of the seven divine realms is indeed extraordinary, but this chimera is much more terrifying than them because it was created from the combination of various beasts.ʼ

Ximen Yan, who noticed Zhang Feiʼs actions, immediately smiled with satisfaction. ʼCome on, kid! You must defeat this beast quickly so we can leave and talk.ʼ

As the chimera beast weakened due to Zhang Feiʼs actions, its regeneration ability also slowed significantly, and their attacks became more impactful against it.

After a fierce battle lasting several hours, the chimera beast finally fell to the ground without being able to fight back, much to everyoneʼs relief. Before long, the beastʼs eyes became blank as it died due to the serious injury it suffered.

Ximen Yan immediately canceled his darkness and landed beside Zhang Fei, who was standing on the back of the chimera beast. ʼAs expected, you are the key to weakening this beast, and we canʼt defeat it without you.ʼ

Zhang Fei immediately pulled out the demon extermination sword from the beastʼs back, and he was quite satisfied after his beast form evolved. Even so, his journey to be able to evolve to nine-tails was still very long, let alone to ten-tails.

Zhang Fei then turned to Ximen Yan. ʼShouldnʼt you be able to defeat this beast with your soul power?ʼ

ʼHahaha.ʼ Ximen Yan laughed in response. ʼIf I leave this young demonʼs body, he will immediately take advantage of your situation to capture some people on your side, and you definitely donʼt want that to happen, right?ʼ

Zhang Fei nodded slightly before looking at Xian Xianqin, who was flying quickly towards him. He immediately welcomed the Xian princess into his arms. ”You donʼt need to worry anymore, okay? The attacks from all of you distracted the beast, and these three were also fighting beside me, so I didnʼt sustain any injuries.”

”En.” Xian Xianqin then glanced at Qian Ying, who was staring at her with hatred, causing her to sigh in her heart.

Soon, everyone present at that place surrounded the dead beast, but they were disappointed because they didnʼt get anything from it, especially since it took them so long to kill it.

Countless lights suddenly descended from the sky and enveloped them, causing the Qi in their bodies to surge drastically. Most of them felt that their cultivation had almost reached the last barrier, and some of them felt that they could break through to the next stage. Unfortunately, they still had other challenges to face, so they decided to postpone their breakthrough until they returned to their respective places.

After the lights disappeared, they were immediately sent out of the maze challenge and returned to the first floor of the Star Tower. However, the old man suddenly appeared at that place along with Hua Meiʼer and Sima Yun.

Hua Meiʼer was the first to speak. ”It seems that your guess is correct, Master. That annoying brat does have the ability to reach the tenth floor, but he wonʼt be able to do it at this time, and we have to wait for him for a few years or maybe decades.”

”You deliberately sent this beast to test that little brat, but he still managed to kill it with the help of those people, Master.” Sima Yun joined in.

The old man nodded to them. ”This beastʼs cultivation is indeed high, yet its attacks are on par with cultivators in the ten mortal realms. If I send another one, they will never be able to defeat it, and they will die in its hands.”

The two people took a deep breath after hearing that. ”Do you think that old guy is still continuing his experiments, master?”

”Yes.” The old man responded with a nod. ”That old folkʼs identity is actually an ancient beast, but he is also a madman, and he is determined to create an ultimate beast that no one can match, including himself. Although our sect master and the others have tried to stop him and capture all the results of his experiments, he has always managed to escape from them, and they have yet to find his current hideout.”

After that, the old man immediately put away the chimera beastʼs corpse, and the three of them disappeared from that place afterward.

.

.

.

They finally discovered the reason for the Huangfu Kingdomʼs absence after returning to the first floor, as they had been eliminated after giving up on the challenge, which relieved most of them.

As before, they were given the opportunity to rest for a day. They immediately returned to their previous place to rest because the maze challenge exhausted them physically and mentally, especially after they fought with the final beast.

Unlike them, Zhou Tongʼs expression was really bad after he got the voice transmission from his fatherʼs aides that Zhou Tai had failed and died inside the maze challenge. Additionally, Zhou Meiling did not come out of it, which made him think that his little sister had also died inside.

Zhou Tong then asked his fatherʼs aides to confirm it with his parents, but their response left him perplexed, especially since his parents had stated that Zhou Meilingʼs jade was still intact, indicating that she was still alive, but she had not returned.

Zhou Tong then went to one side, sat there, and observed everyone. He contemplated who might have kidnapped Zhou Meiling, but he did not suspect the demons from the two demon kingdoms, as his family was an ally of theirs.

Zhou Tongʼs gaze immediately fell on Zhang Fei because he had all of a sudden appeared in their realm, and not many people knew about him. Moreover, his strength was unreasonable because of his low cultivation, so he suspected that he kidnapped Zhou Meiling, but he also had no evidence of that. ʼI hope the next challenge is the survival challenge, and I will immediately pursue that kid.ʼ

.

.

.

As he hugged Xian Xianqin and Yun Xinyue, who had fallen asleep on his shoulders, Zhang Fei continued to reflect on the previous changes in the maze challenge, feeling that those mysterious people had purposefully changed everything to test him.

Zhang Fei didnʼt mind their tests because some of them went in his favor, but he was enraged because the last chimera beast was clearly too strong for them. They deliberately sent it to them as a final test, and it endangered the people on his side. Fortunately, the other groups arrived not too long after them, or they would have been completely overwhelmed trying to fight it, and they would probably die because of it. ʼShow my status, Mei.ʼ

After reading the amount of beast essence he needed to evolve to seven tails, Zhang Fei let out a heavy sigh in his heart, realizing that it was not an easy task for his beast form to evolve. ʼI think I should go to the beast kingdom soon, or else it will take several years for my beast form to evolve again.ʼ

[I think that is the best choice, Master. If you donʼt want to go there by yourself, you can send one of your clones there, and Zhang Fei [1] is the best choice for that.]

ʼYeah, youʼre right. Iʼll think about that later, and I want to focus on completing the rest of the challenges first.ʼ Zhang Fei then laid Xian Xianqin and Yun Xinyue on the floor before standing up and leaving. He then asked Ximen Yan to bring Qian Ying to see him.

A while later, they had gathered in another area, and Zhang Fei used a soundproof barrier to prevent others from hearing their conversation. ”Who are you exactly?”

”My name is Ma Kuangyu, and I come from those places.” Ximen Yan then conveyed his wish. ”As long as I am confined here, I cannot reform my body. Unfortunately, I cannot leave this tower by myself, so I need your help to get out of this place.”

Zhang Fei did not immediately agree to his request. ”Why should I help you? I am unfamiliar with you, your character, or the reason for your imprisonment in this tower.”

”Haha.” Ximen Yan then touched Zhang Feiʼs forehead, sharing many memories with him, which included Ximen Yan and Ma Kuangyu. ”You can see everything now, so you will understand my character and the reason I was locked up in this place.”

Zhang Fei nodded and looked at Ma Kuangyuʼs memories first, especially since he was more important than Ximen Yan. Once he had seen everything, he immediately spoke to him. ”So those people betrayed you for that item? Did you hide that item somewhere in those realms?”

”Yes.” Ximen Yan nodded to him. ”I found that item by accident, and I realized that it was very dangerous, so I kept it. Unfortunately, one of them realized the existence of the item, so they worked together to snatch it from me. Luckily, I realized it sooner, so I hid it in a safe place, and no one could open it except me. They killed me because they couldnʼt find it, and they wanted to torture me by sending my soul into this tower. If you are willing to help me, then I will owe you a few favors. Once I have successfully reformed my body, I will assist you with various tasks that will benefit both you and your women. Youʼve seen my memories, so you shouldnʼt doubt my abilities anymore, right?”
