Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 568 - 568: Blank Book Reward

For quite some time, the middle-aged man stared at Zhang Fei. He then waved his hand, released the two princesses, and disappeared from the scene.

Zhang Fei was greatly irritated by the similarity between the middle-aged man and the little girl, who rushed away as soon as he mentioned anything related to them. ”What exactly do they want from me? Why are they so secretive? Could it be that they are scheming something against me?”

*Boom*

A small wooden box suddenly fell from the sky right in front of Zhang Fei, and he saw a strange carving on the lid. He ignored the carving and opened the box directly, finding a book inside.

”Hmm?” After taking the book, Zhang Fei felt confused, especially since it had no title and no writing inside. ”What kind of book is this? Do I need a special way to read it?”

[Master, put the book in the system inventory, and I will try to analyze it.]

Zhang Fei immediately fulfilled Meiʼs request before teleporting to where the two women were, and he right away woke them up. A few moments later, they opened their eyes and leaped to their feet, only to be stunned, especially since they had been moved to a garden.

Their expressions turned gloomy, especially since they felt helpless during the last two tests. ”Where are we? Who attacked us before?”

”Calm down, you two.” Zhang Fei then explained what had happened to them, and he also showed them the golden key. ”I donʼt know the identity of that middle-aged man, but I am now completely certain that he and the little girl I met before coming from those realms, and their master is the one who controls this tower. Even if you two donʼt let your guard down, you guys still wonʼt be able to face him because his cultivation and speed are much higher than yours, so you donʼt need to be disappointed with yourselves. Anyway, letʼs go to the next room so we can finish this maze challenge quickly.”

Both women nodded and followed behind Zhang Fei, but they clenched their fists tightly as they looked at his back. His cultivation was far below theirs, but they couldnʼt help him and had to rely on him through their tests, which disappointed them.

A while later, the three of them arrived in a room, but they were faced with three puzzles on the three walls of the room. ”Letʼs solve these puzzles first, and we will determine our next path after that.”

Somewhere inside the tower, Hua Meiʼer laughed out loud after the middle-aged man arrived there. ”Hahahaha! Old Brat! So funny! The others will definitely laugh at you if they hear about that, Sima Yun!”

”Shut up! All of this happened because of your stupidity! You foolishly informed that brat about our master!” Hua Meiʼer immediately covered her mouth, and Sima Yun then turned to the old man. ”Master, my speed is indeed not the fastest in our realm, but my speed is not bad either, and I am the fastest among my brothers and sisters. However, that bratʼs speed surpasses mine, and I feel that his speed is on par with that guy.”

Zhang Feiʼs speed perplexed the old man, particularly considering the vast distance between their home realm and the Nine Stars Realm. Furthermore, they had learned that he originated from the lower realms and had recently reached the middle realms. ”I donʼt know how he managed to achieve such a high speed with his low cultivation, and Iʼm also not sure where he got the information about our realms from, but Iʼve decided not to send any of you to test him anymore.”

”I think thatʼs the best decision, master.” Sima Yun said as he nodded. ”This realm is in the middle realms, and his cultivation is still in the ten mortal realms. I acknowledge that he excels among cultivators of his generation, and there arenʼt many younger generations in our realms who can match him. However, it could be detrimental to him if he gains too much knowledge about us or our realms.”

The old man then ordered his other disciples to cancel his original plans and return. ”We only need to wait for him to reach this floor, but he may take decades or centuries, and we will explain everything then.”

”Master, what about that vile womanʼs soul? Are you going to let her control that little girl?” Hua Meiʼer posed a serious question.

”That little girl will meet him soon, and that vile womanʼs soul will be useful to him, so Iʼll let him handle her himself.” Hua Meiʼer and Sima Yun could only sigh in their hearts after their master said that, but they had no intention of persuading him to change his mind, especially since they were truly annoyed with Zhang Fei.

”Haha.” Zhou Meiling laughed to herself as she looked at the corpses of many demons in front of her. ”Their cultivation is quite high, and some of them are stronger than this little girl. Unfortunately, their life and soul forces are too weak, so I have to find other prey to strengthen my soul before I can reshape my body.”

Suddenly, the wall on Zhou Meilingʼs right opened on its own, and she faintly smiled as she looked at the man in front of her.

The man was also a little surprised to see Zhou Meiling, but he was shocked when he saw so many demonsʼ corpses. ”Did you kill them, Princess Meiling?”

”They tried to force me to serve them, so I killed them.” Zhou Meiling then walked to the manʼs side and hugged his arm, which made him feel awkward. She gently wiped his face with a silk cloth before posing a question. ”Why does your face appear so tired, Prince Renfu?”

”Haish! You better not ask that.” Bai Renfu then pointed to the room behind them. ”I got separated from my big brother and Shouyi, and I was trapped inside for so long just to solve a puzzle, so Iʼm really tired now.”

”I see.” Zhou Meiling then pulled Bai Renfu to walk with her. ”Since we were both separated from our families, it would be better if we explored this maze together. This way, we could more easily fight the enemies that would come our way, and we could help each other if we encountered other puzzles.”

Bai Renfu immediately agreed, swallowed some pills, and then walked with Zhou Meiling, oblivious to the evil glimmer in her gaze.

Zhou Meiling licked her lips as she glanced at Bai Renfu. ʼHis condition is weakening now, so I will wait for him to recover first before absorbing his life and soul forces.ʼ

A young man, a young woman, and a brown wolf casually walked side by side until they arrived at the next room. They were a little surprised when they saw the two women who were sound asleep, causing them to think that the two of them were too careless.

However, one of the women immediately opened her eyes upon sensing their presence, and she was relieved after recognizing their identities. ”I didnʼt expect to meet you two here, Prince Long Chen and Princess Xian Jinglan.”

”Why are you both sleeping here, Princess Bai Tianʼer? Arenʼt you afraid of being attacked by demons or people from those kingdoms?” Xian Jinglan asked as he waved his hand, and two white lights quickly enveloped the two women, helping them relieve their fatigue.

Bai Tianʼer let out a heavy sigh before telling them about some of the rooms she and Ye Zhiqiu had passed through before, but Xian Jinglan and Long Chen werenʼt surprised by that, especially since they had also encountered the same problems. ”The changes in this maze are too extreme, and I donʼt know how long it will take for us to get out of this place.”

”Haha.” Long Chen laughed and sat down in front of the two women. ”The changes are indeed unusual, but I enjoyed my time here. Actually, I was hoping to meet Zhang Fei here so I could spar with him, but instead, we met those beasts non-stop, and now we met you two.”

”You are indeed similar to your father, and your mind is always filled with fighting and fighting, Prince Long.” Xian Jinglan said this as she brought her brown wolf to rest by their side. ”How long have you two been here?”

”Two or three hours, perhaps.” Bai Tianʼer then turned to her friend. ”We had to fight too many beasts in a row, which forced Zhiqiu to use his secret technique, leaving her completely exhausted.”

Xian Jinglan nodded in understanding. ”Even though I want to leave this place, Iʼm not in a rush to leave either, so weʼll wait for her to recover before continuing our journey.”

”So, how was your previous adventure?” Long Chen and Xian Jinglan then shared numerous details with Bai Tianʼer, including their separation from Jin Dabao, among other things.

”Wake up?” Xian Changyue promptly inquired as soon as her nephew opened his eyes.

Xian Xianwu did not immediately respond to his paternal aunt; instead, he rubbed his dizzy head. He looked around the room, realizing they were no longer in the previous garden but rather in a room reminiscent of a prison. ”What happened to me, Aunt? Where are we now?”

”You were previously affected by some flower plants in the garden, so I immediately took you away after the effect was enough for them.” Xian Changyue then looked around. ”I met many beasts and demons, and I couldnʼt deal with them alone, so I took you to escape to this prison.”

Xian Xianwu nodded slightly and sat down directly. ”How much time has passed?”

”A few hours.” Xian Changyue quickly grasped Xian Xianwuʼs hand, assessed his condition, and then exhaled with a sense of relief. ”Since youʼve recovered now, we should continue our journey, or weʼll be stuck in this maze for too long.”

The two of them immediately left the prison and went through the only path in front of them, but they saw someone unexpected in the next room. ”Bai Chongxi?”

Bai Chongxi, who was seriously inspecting the room, was startled to hear that. As he turned to face them, Xian Changyue suddenly moved in front of him and grabbed his neck.

Bai Chongxi tried to grab Xian Changyueʼs hand, but she immediately slapped his hand away. ”Ugh! Please... please spare me.”

”Why should I spare you?” Xian Changyue coldly asked. ”Your parents have repeatedly assisted Huangfu Shou in his attacks on my Xian Kingdom, and you hold the position of crown prince within your kingdom. If I kill you now, then Bai Yaowei and Chen Ruyue will suffer, and their situation will be to our advantage.”

”You... you donʼt know our true situation.” Xian Changyue furrowed her brows. ”My... my parents never wanted to attack other kingdoms, but they are already under the control of the person behind Huangfu Shou, and they cannot refute his orders.”

”Who is the person behind Huangfu Shou?”

Bai Chongxi shook his head slightly. ”I... I donʼt know the identity of that person, but I know that that person is really strong, and he is much stronger than all the emperors or empresses in our realm. Moreover, Ximen Changtian and Ximen Gongfu are already aware of the existence of that person, or else they have long attacked the Huangfu Kingdom.”

After hearing that, Xian Changyue became deeply contemplative, particularly considering the close ties between the two demon kingdoms and the Zhou Kingdom. Their numbers should have been more than enough to destroy the Huangfu Kingdom, but they never once attacked them, and they continued to build up their strength to fight against Huangfu Shou. ”Is that person a cultivator from the upper realms?”

”I really donʼt know the identity of that person, so Iʼm unsure whether that person is a cultivator from the middle or upper realms.”

”Why doesnʼt that person control you and your siblings?” Bai Chongxi answered with a shake of his head, especially since he didnʼt know the personʼs reasons. Xian Changyue immediately released him, waved her hand to the right, and swiftly led them away through an open path. ”Letʼs go.”

ʼDo you believe him, Aunt?ʼ

Xian Changyue shook her head slightly. ʼI wonʼt believe him before I can find out the truth myself, but your father and I have long suspected that there is someone else behind Huangfu Shou, so I will investigate it after we return to our kingdom.ʼ

In another area, Ximen Chuixue and the other three were busy fighting the demons from the Dark Demon Kingdoms, but they were clearly in a pinch as their enemies outnumbered them.

A white circle suddenly appeared above them, and dozens of light arrows immediately rained down on the demons. Additionally, two men suddenly charged toward the demons and beat them up, which brought relief to Ximen Chuixue and the others.

In a few minutes, the demons were exterminated, but the two men and a tiny girl immediately left Ximen Chuixue and his group to another area.

”Are they always like that, Brother Chui?”

Ximen Chuixue nodded to Yuan Luo. ”Even though the beasts and natural races have never been hostile to humans, they have never liked humans either, so you shouldnʼt be surprised if they are indifferent to us. At least they helped us to get rid of these demons, or else we would die by their hands.”

”So, where are we going now? Are we going to follow them?” Ru Yanyue asked them.

Ying Shanhu dismissed that with a shake of his head. ”Didnʼt you hear what Brother Chui said just now? They donʼt like humans, so we shouldnʼt follow them and instead go in the opposite direction.”

”One of them is Prince Long Tian, and he is quite temperamental, so we will go to the right.” Yuan Luo and the other two immediately agreed, following Ximen Chuixue in a different direction.

Ru Yanyue then asked again. ”If they donʼt like humans, why did they approach Zhang Fei? Isnʼt he human like us?”

Ying Shanhu was also curious about it, especially since he could see that the people from the beast and natural races were trying to draw Zhang Fei to their side. Ximen Chuixue and Yan Luo naturally knew their reasons, but they had no intention of disclosing his other two identities to their friends.

Meanwhile, a small man kept grumbling in his heart, especially since he was locked up alone in a prison. No matter how hard he tried to destroy the place, the walls and iron in front of him absorbed all his attacks. Moreover, there was a puzzle that appeared in front of the door, so he had no choice but to solve it first before he could leave the place.

The man was none other than Jin Dabao, the dwarf. ”Damn it! If I hadnʼt been separated from Long Chen and Xian Jinglan, I wouldnʼt have been locked up in this miserable place.”

The ceiling of the room suddenly opened by itself, and two women immediately fell into it, surprising Jin Dabao.

*Bam... Bam...*

”Ouch!” One of the women screamed after falling on her buttocks.

The other woman immediately cursed loudly. ”Shit! Those damn beasts! If they hadnʼt chased us, we wouldnʼt have fallen into that trap!”

The two women looked around, but they were surprised to find Jin Dabao in the room. ʼTch! What kind of creature is he? Why is his body so tiny?ʼ

Jin Dabao paid them no mind. ”Hey! If you two want to go out, you guys better help me solve this puzzle, or weʼll rot in this place.”

The two women were Huangfu Xiaoying and Huangfu Xiaomei, who were separated from their two brothers. Although they did not like Jin Dabao, they also did not want to continue being trapped in that place, so they began to help him solve the puzzle.

Huangfu Xiaoying then asked him. ”How long have you been trapped in this place?”

”A few hours.” Jin Dabao then turned to them. ”Donʼt talk too much and focus on solving this puzzle.”

ʼTch! This old bastard!ʼ Huangfu Xiaoying only dared to curse in her heart because Jin Dabao was stronger than her and her sister.

Although Huangfu Xiaomei remained silent, Jin Dabaoʼs attitude also annoyed her. ʼTch! If we are able to escape this location and reunite with our brothers, I will kill this old bastard directly.ʼ
