Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 552: Demon Heart Challange

*Swoosh*

As a shockwave left Xian Xianqinʼs body, the crystals on the stone obelisk began to light up one by one, but it finally stopped at the eighth crystal. Even so, she was satisfied with the result because her strength had increased by two crystals compared to the last time, which made her confident that she could pass those challenges on the first floor.

”Are you satisfied with the results?”

Xian Xianqin immediately turned to Zhang Fei, who was standing beside her. ”Yes, I am satisfied with the result. Next, I will defeat my demon heart challenge, and I am optimistic that we will be able to pass all the tests on the first floor. Now, itʼs your turn, and you must use your best strength to achieve the best results.”

”Honestly, I still donʼt want to show my strength to the public, but theyʼre targeting me now, so it wonʼt make a difference whether I hide it or not.” Xian Xianqin immediately looked at the few people who were watching Zhang Fei seriously, and most of them obviously had malicious intentions towards him, except for people from the beast and natural races. ”You must go back, or my attack will impact you.”

After Zhang Fei said that, many people started to mock him from afar because his cultivation was the weakest among them. They didnʼt believe that he could light up five crystals, and they believed that he would be lucky if he could light up one.

Unlike them, Xian Xianqin completely believed in Zhang Feiʼs strength, especially after she witnessed his battle with Huan Ya a week ago.

Bai Tianʼer and the others also believed in Zhang Feiʼs strength, especially since he could knock a body cultivator with high cultivation like Ximen Chuixue backward.

Even though their parents highly praised Zhang Fei, Yun Qinghao and Yun Xinyue were still skeptical of his strength. They tried to ask Xian Xianwu about it, but he didnʼt say anything.

ʼI would definitely fail this test of strength if I werenʼt a body cultivator, and both of my body techniques have already broken through, so Iʼm confident I can pass it.ʼ Zhang Fei then took an attacking stance and pulled his right hand back. He then looked at the crystal above and smiled faintly before punching the stone obelisk.

*Boom*

*Rumble... Rumble... Rumble..*

The powerful explosion shocked all the spectators, and they also lost their balance as the ground beneath them shook violently as a result of Zhang Feiʼs attack. However, they quickly stabilized themselves and focused their gazes on the crystals that began to light up one by one. Zhang Feiʼs result swiftly passed the fifth crystal without showing any signs of stopping.

”What the hell?”

”How is that possible?”

”Impossible! He must be cheating!”

Almost everyone present around the stone obelisk began to scream in disbelief, and they began to accuse Zhang Fei of cheating after his previous attack lit up the tenth crystal.

Xian Changyue, who was watching Zhang Fei from up in the sky, fell dumbstruck after she witnessed that. She didnʼt expect that his raw strength was already so great, and he even achieved perfect results, surpassing so many cultivators who were much stronger than him. ʼThis kid! How can a dual cultivator like him have such a powerful attack? If he punched me with his current strength without any protection, I would probably die on the spot.ʼ

Meanwhile, Long Chen and Long Tian, who were standing in the distance, were grinning widely after witnessing that. Their fists were tightly clenched, and they really couldnʼt wait to spar with him, just like their father.

Although the members of the natural races were also shocked by Zhang Feiʼs results, none of them doubted his strength. They were sensitive to Qiʼs movements and knew he wasnʼt cheating, so they considered having him join them.

ʼHave you two understood the reason Uncle Yun and Aunt Guo asked you to join us?ʼ Yun Qinghao and Yun Xinyue nodded to Xian Xianwu as their eyes continued to stare at Zhang Feiʼs back. ʼHe is a genius among geniuses, but he still has to improve his strength to be able to compete with these people openly.ʼ

Yun Qinghao and Yun Xinyue glanced at their potential opponents, but they instantly scowled when they saw their murderous gazes directed toward Zhang Fei. ʼHe is indeed a genius, but he made a big mistake by showing off his strength. Look at them! All of them are eager to kill him, so we must protect him during the maze and survival challenges.ʼ

ʼNo need.ʼ Yun Qinghao and Yun Xinyue raised their eyebrows at Xian Xianwu. ʼYou two donʼt know him yet, but we have trained with him for a week, so I can tell you both that he does not need our protection. Instead, we need his protection, and we will be as safe as long as we are by his side.ʼ

Yun Qinghao and Yun Xinyue seemed doubtful about that, so they paid attention to Ximen Chuixue and the othersʼ expressions, but all of them looked at Zhang Fei with confidence.

”Fei!” Xian Xianqin suddenly shouted, ran forward, and hugged Zhang Fei from behind, a behavior that amused Yuan Luo and the others. ”Hehehe! I believed you would succeed in lighting the tenth crystal, and youʼve already proven it.”

Zhang Fei immediately turned to Xian Xianqin and hugged her waist. ”Since my darling believes in my abilities, I certainly canʼt let you down, right?”

Xian Xianqin was momentarily stunned, but her cheeks flushed as she remembered their situation, so she pushed Zhang Fei away and ran back to their group.

ʼThis shy princess!ʼ Zhang Fei then looked at those people, especially those who were openly showing their killing intent. As he expected, people from the Zhao Kingdom also started targeting him, and Zhou Tong was one of those who showed his killing intent towards him. However, he responded to them with a relaxed smile before looking toward the demons from both demon kingdoms, and he used his demonic force manipulation to make many of them shiver, including their seniors. ʼHeh! If you guys dare to attack me, I will let the demon extermination sword quench its thirst by drinking your blood.ʼ

Zhang Fei suddenly raised his eyebrows and looked up, especially since Xian Changyue decided to land in front of him. Without uttering a word, she stepped in front of the stone obelisk and delivered a light punch.

Although she did not use his full strength, Xian Changyue easily lit the ninth crystal, and her name immediately entered the top 100 rankings. ”What are you waiting for? Donʼt you want to enter the tower?”

ʼThis woman! She originally just wanted to monitor me, but now she wants to protect me from them.ʼ Zhang Fei then turned to Xian Xianqin and the others. ”Letʼs go in; we will definitely pass the first floor.”

”Go!” Chao Yuanfeng immediately led his disciples to follow behind Zhang Fei and Xian Changyue.

The rest of the group, particularly those who had ranked in the top 100, also rushed into the tower. Most of them continued to stare at Zhang Fei, contemplating various ways to harm him.

Even though the people who escorted them didnʼt participate in those challenges, they could still enter the tower using their tokens, but they were teleported to a waiting area. Meanwhile, those who did not make it into the ranking immediately left the location with their returning jade.

After they entered the star tower, a portal immediately opened in front of the stone obelisk. Zhang Fei [1] led his wives, partners, family, and friends out of the training space. ”All right, you guys can test your strength on this stone obelisk so we will know your progress.”

They quickly followed Zhang Fei [1]ʼs order by striking the stone obelisk in turns, but most of them could only light up three to four crystals, especially the people from Earth. Even the young cultivators of the Sky Jade Realm could only light up five crystals at maximum, but they were not disappointed by their results, and it actually spurred their spirits to become even stronger.

As for the senior cultivators, most of them could light up six crystals, and only Boitata could light up seven crystals. Even so, none of them wanted to challenge the tower because there were so many evil cultivators inside, and they would only bring trouble to Zhang Fei, especially since many of them were targeting him.

Since they didnʼt intend to challenge the tower, Zhang Fei [1] immediately brought them back into the training space. He sent some of them into the beast space, such as Boitata, Shen Yu, and Shen Xueyi. That way, his real body can take them out to see the situation in the survival and maze challenges, but he will only take them out if the situation is really safe.

Inside the tower, Zhang Fei looked around in confusion because there was nothing inside, so Xian Xianqin immediately explained to him. ”The challenges will start soon, but we donʼt know which one we will face first, so we canʼt prepare ourselves.”

”Itʼs okay. Weʼve been preparing ourselves for a week, so Iʼm sure everything will be fine.” Zhang Fei replied as he read each participantʼs data on the blue screen before his eyes.

”Arenʼt you too confident in yourself?” Zang Fei turned to Xian Changyue directly. ”Your raw strength is indeed high, but you will face the battle challenge, and there is a possibility that you will face cultivators in the seven divine realms. With your current cultivation, you wonʼt be able to defeat them, and they might even kill you due to your previous display of strength.”

Although her words were cold and dismissive, Zhang Fei did not feel offended by Xian Changyueʼs words. ”You are right, Senior Changyue. My current cultivation is indeed not as high as theirs, and they can kill me like an ant. However, none of you, including Princess Xianqin, are aware of my true abilities. You may think I am arrogant and overconfident, but I am confident in my abilities, and I am confident that I can pass the battle challenge.”

Xian Changyue wanted to scold Zhang Fei, but Xian Xianqin immediately pulled her aside. She then informed her aunt about his battle with Huan Ya, which elicited a look of disbelief from her. My brother and I witnessed their battle firsthand, and he managed to defeat her within a matter of minutes. Even after she used her domain, she still didnʼt match it. Thatʼs why I believe that he will be able to pass the battle challenge, even if his opponent is a cultivator in the seven divine realms.ʼ

Xian Changyue looked at Zhang Fei with a frown, but he responded with a confident smile. ʼSigh! I hope you are right, Xianqin. His talents were too high and rare, and it would be a shame if he died in their hands.ʼ

ʼDonʼt worry, everything will be fine, and he wonʼt die in their hands.ʼ Xian Xianqin suddenly looked up, and her body trembled slightly as a black portal descended from the ceiling along with a huge screen. ”Fei! The Demon Heart Challenge!”

Upon hearing that, everyone in the room became tense. They didnʼt expect that the first test would be the demon heart challenge, especially since it had always been the most difficult test for them. They had already failed the test multiple times, and failing the first test directly would prevent them from proceeding to the other tests.

”The demon heart challenge, huh?” Zhang Fei muttered as he looked at the black portal.

Since the demon heart challenge was a personal test, the black portal suddenly lit up and sucked in everyone present, sending them to various locations.

Zhang Fei let out a soft sigh as he appeared in front of his old house on Earth. ”Why did the test bring me here? I drove my father crazy and killed my big brother, but I never regretted my actions. If I had to go through both once again, I would definitely do it again.”

”Is that true, Zhang Fei?” A little girlʼs voice startled Zhang Fei, prompting him to turn towards her, but he was unable to recognize her face. ”Hehe! Do you still remember me?”

”Who are you? How did you appear here?” Zhang Fei raised his eyebrows and inquired.

”Iʼve always wanted to meet you, but you canʼt remember me, and it makes me sad.” The little girl said this as she put on a pitiful look, but then she pointed to the house. ”Our first meeting was when we were five years old, and we met in this house. Back then, you were a cheerful and friendly kid, and I really liked you, but you liked Zhang Lin more.”

Zhang Fei shook his head, summoned the demon extermination sword, and pointed it at the girl. ”You may be able to confuse other peopleʼs minds with your lies, but you wonʼt be able to do it to me. I remember all my old memories, even my childhood memories, and you are not part of them, so you should show your true form right now.”

”Hehehe.” The little girl let out an eerie laugh. ”You are indeed different from them, Zhang Fei. Usually, they will believe me right away, and they will try hard to find me in their memories.”

However, the little girl quickly transformed into Chen Xin. ”What about this woman? Despite your love for Zhang Lin, this woman was your first lover. Unfortunately, she betrayed you with Zhang He, and they conspired to frame you. In the end, you were abandoned by your family, which led to your death.”

”Haish!” Zhang Fei exhaled softly. ”Somehow, I feel that the person who created you to test us is too stupid.”

”What do you mean by that?” The little girl asked with a frown.

”You can read all my memories while I was in this place, right?” The little girl nodded to Zhang Fei. ”Since you can read my memories, you should already know that I donʼt care about their deaths. Even if they come back to life and appear in front of me again, I will kill them once again. Thatʼs why I said that your creator is a fool, and you are no different from a defective AI.”

The little girl didnʼt say anything and turned to Zhang Hai. ”What about your father? Donʼt you regret it? You would never have existed in this world without him, but you snatched your mother away from him, and your actions caused him to go crazy.”

”Hey! If you want to test me with all this, you should let me pass right now.” The little girl raised her eyebrows again, but Zhang Fei shook his head at her. ”Youʼre right that I wouldnʼt exist in this world without him, but Iʼm a demon now. Moreover, my mother always harbored sadness when she was with him, but sheʼs happy with me now, so Iʼll never regret making him go crazy.”

The little girl fell into deep thought for a while, but then she smiled faintly and turned into Chu Hong, causing Zhang Fei to frown. ”This guy is a good man, and he really loves Liu Qingyu. He was willing to accept you into his family and marry two of his three daughters to you, but you repaid his kindness by snatching his wife.”

”Youʼre right. I repaid Chu Hongʼs kindness with evil, so Iʼve wronged him.” The little girl smiled after Zhang Fei said that, but his next words annoyed her. ”He is dead now, and Qingyu is happy with me, so I no longer hold any regrets in my heart about him. Anyway, you can transform into every person Iʼve hurt or killed in the past, but your efforts will ultimately be in vain. Like I said, I am a demon, and a demon is an evil creature.”

”Ugh! Youʼre so annoying!” The little girl shouted in annoyance as she stomped her feet repeatedly on the floor. ”My master will definitely scold me when I get back!”

”Your master? Donʼt tell me that you are a living being.” The little girl immediately covered her mouth, which convinced Zhang Fei.

”Tch! Iʼll let you pass this test!” Before Zhang Fei could say anything, the little girl had already sent him out of the place. ”Ugh! I shouldnʼt have said that to him! Master will definitely punish me after this! Sigh! Whatever, itʼs already too late, and he already knows about me, so I should go back and report to my master.”
