Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 586: Maze Boss

After he passed through several obstacles, Zhang Fei arrived in front of an empty room. Although the system did not show anything inside, he thought there might be traps hidden within because the previous rooms were like that, so he did not enter it immediately and waited for Zhou Meiling to arrive.

A few minutes later, Zhou Meiling arrived in the area, using her speed to move toward Zhang Fei despite her lack of knowledge about his abilities and speed.

Zhang Fei immediately dodged Zhou Meilingʼs hand, grabbed it, and threw her into the room. Mei suddenly told him something that made him frown, but he immediately nodded in response.

Zhou Meiling was completely shocked by that, but Zhang Fei immediately entered the room. As he had predicted, the room contained a trap that triggered as soon as they entered, causing their qi to dissipate.

”Hehe.” Zhou Meiling chuckled as she experienced this. ”You deliberately lured me here, but you suffered yourself. My cultivation is at the 1-Moon Divine Transcend Realm, and your cultivation is at the 1-Star Earth Realm, so the Qi in my body is more abundant than yours. This way, I donʼt need to bother taking care of you; I just need to wait for you to weaken.”

”Is that so?” Zhang Fei inquired calmly. ”My cultivation is indeed lower than yours, but that doesnʼt mean that the Qi in my body is less than yours. Anyway, who exactly are you? Although you may deceive others, I am aware that you are a soul trapped in this tower, and you have taken control of her body.”

”Oh?” Zhang Feiʼs words surprised Zhou Meiling. ”I didnʼt expect you to realize it, little brat. Youʼre right that I control this little girl, and my soul was locked up in this tower by someone, which happened about ten thousand years ago.”

”Ten thousand years ago?” Zhang Fei was completely shocked by that. ʼTch! I didnʼt expect her to be such an old soul, and her experience is definitely much greater than mine, so I have to be careful of her.ʼ ”Who exactly are you?”

Zhou Meiling smiled and told him. ”People in our home realms give me the nickname the purple demoness because I have killed countless people, and my name is Nalan Yushu.”

ʼPurple demoness, huh?ʼ Zhang Fei then asked her again. ”Does this mean you came from the realms beyond the upper realms?”

”I did come from one of the planets in those realms, but I wonʼt explain it to you.” Zhou Meiling immediately moved towards him, but Zhang Fei quickly teleported away to avoid her. ”Hmm? Despite your low cultivation, I didnʼt expect you to have such frightening speed.”

Zhang Fei shook his head at her. ”You may have been a strong cultivator before you died, but you are not as strong as you used to be, and Zhou Meiling is not as strong as you think. Moreover, you donʼt have much information about me, and you underestimate me too much.”

”I admit that I did underestimate you.” Zhou Meiling replied with an affirmative nod. ”However, you also donʼt know me or my abilities, and you are overconfident just because you have your speed. Even though Iʼve been dead for a long time, I still have all my abilities, and I will capture you before taking over your body.”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei chuckled in response. ”You can try it if you are so confident in your abilities.”

Zhou Meiling smirked slightly before a purple smoke shot out from her body, and it quickly enveloped Zhang Fei. However, the system immediately activated its defense mechanism, and it dispelled the effects of the purple smoke.

Zhou Meiling, still unaware of the situation, immediately moved behind him and tried to grab his shoulder. Zhang Fei immediately spun around and punched her in the abdomen, causing her to stagger back and bend forward, feeling excruciating pain in her abdomen.

”Impossible! Why doesnʼt my purple smoke affect you?” Zhou Meiling shouted in shock as she clutched her stomach.

”Like I said before, you underestimate me too much.” Zhang Fei took out the Hongxi dagger and threw it at her, but Zhou Meiling immediately moved to the side to avoid it.

However, Zhang Fei controlled the Hongxi dagger with his aura, and it immediately shot toward Zhou Meiling again.

Zhou Meiling immediately took out her sword and deflected it, but Zhang Fei had already moved in front of her with a black halberd in his hand, and he right away swung it at her.

*Clang*

Zhou Meiling blocked his attack with her sword, but Zhang Feiʼs attack was too heavy for her, causing her legs to bend and the floor beneath her to shatter.

Zhou Meiling immediately took out another sword and stabbed it at him, but the hongxi dagger moved and deflected it. Zhang Fei immediately kicked her chest, sending her flying backward.

”Argh!” Zhou Meiling spun in the air and stomped her foot on the wall behind her, but Zhang Fei once again moved in front of her. He grabbed her hand and slammed her directly onto the floor, causing her to scream in pain again. ”Argh!”

*vomit*

Zhou Meiling immediately wiped the blood from her mouth and glared at Zhang Fei, who had moved into the distance. ʼThis bastard! Although his adversary was a delicate woman, he did not hesitate to strike me with such force.ʼ

”You donʼt need to glare at me like that.” Zhang Fei then pointed his abyssal black halberd toward Zhou Meiling. ”Your soul may be strong, but that womanʼs body limits your abilities. Iʼve met a cultivator from those realms before, and he couldnʼt even keep up with my speed, let alone you.”

Zhang Feiʼs words caused Zhou Meilingʼs eyes to widen, and she truly realized that she had underestimated him. If the living cultivators from her realms couldnʼt keep up with his speed, then the cultivators from the middle realms would never be able to do so. ʼDamn it! I have to leave this girlʼs body to possess that bastardʼs body forcefully, and I will destroy his soul before controlling him.ʼ

ʼAre you sure that method will work, Mei?ʼ

[One hundred percent, master. So you can lure Nalan Yushu out of Zhou Meilingʼs body and let her into your soul space.]

ʼAll right.ʼ Zhang Fei then provoked her. ”Why donʼt you leave her body immediately? Donʼt you want to possess me and control my body? As long as you stay in that womanʼs body, you will never be able to win against me, and I will kill you together with her.”

ʼTch! This bastard! He has been looking down on me from the beginning!ʼ As soon as Nalan Yushu left her body, Zhou Meiling immediately collapsed on the floor; her true soul was still trapped in her soul space.

Zhang Fei faintly smiled upon seeing this, and Nalan Yushu immediately surrounded him in her purple smoke form. In just a few seconds, she had infiltrated his body and then made her way into his soul space. He could have avoided it easily, but he wanted to try the method that Mei had told him about.

Nalan Yushu floated within Zhang Feiʼs soul space, searching for his soul and intending to destroy it. She had no idea that his soul space would be so vast, given his status as a soul cultivator and the fact that it would only continue to expand as his soul power increased.

Nalan Yushu raised her eyebrows as Zhang Feiʼs soul space, which was still bright, suddenly turned pitch black, and the darkness limited his vision and senses.

”What the hell happened here? How could this place be this dark?” As Nalan Yushu contemplated the change, countless chains suddenly shot toward her, directly entangling her soul. She struggled to destroy those chains, but they kept reconnecting. ”Shit!”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei immediately appeared before Nalan Yushu as he laughed. ”Being locked up in the tower for ten thousand years seems to make you senile, and you forget that there are soul cultivators in this universe. Havenʼt you realized that I deliberately let you into my soul space? If I wanted to, I could avoid you easily, but I was aiming for your soul from the start. My soul space is under my control, and I can change it as I please, so you are in my grasp now.”

”Bastard! Let go of me!” Nalan Yushu shouted in frustration, unable to make the chains disappear no matter how many times she shattered them.

”Why should I let go of the prey that has fallen into my hands?” Zhang Fei then approached Nalan Yushu and touched her soul. ”At first, I intended to absorb your soul, but someone gave me another idea, so I gave up my intention and will use another method on you.”

”What... what are you going to do to me?” Nalan Yushu asked stammeringly as she felt something emerge within her soul. ”Stop... Donʼt do this to me!”

”Too late.” Zhang Fei directly implanted his soul mark into Nalan Yushuʼs soul, and he also used the soul manipulation ability to merge her soul with his. ”Heh! This way, your soul will be bound to me forever, and I will use you to do something in the future.”

After Zhang Fei withdrew his hand, a black cage immediately appeared and confined Nalan Yushu. ”Bastard! I will definitely kill you one day!”

”Do you think you still have a chance at that?” Zhang Fei asked with a slight smirk, and his soul space became bright again. ”For now, enjoy your time here, and you will know my purpose in locking up your soul later.”

*Bam... Bam...*

After Zhang Fei disappeared, Nalan Yushu tried to break the black cage, but it didnʼt budge an inch, causing her to slump to the bottom with a face full of anger. She then looked around the area, still confused by the darkness from earlier, especially considering its strength. ”That bastard! He deliberately toyed with me from the start, and I foolishly walked into his trap!”

Once he returned to his body, Zhang Fei immediately approached Zhou Meiling, who was still unconscious. Mei told him that her soul was still sleeping in her soul space, especially since Nalan Yushu had possessed her for too long, weakening her soul. [What are you going to do to this woman? Are you going to implant your demon slave mark into his soul?]

”Despite her status as a princess, I donʼt find her attractive. Furthermore, you mentioned that her Yin Qi is significantly weaker than that of female cultivators at her level, so I wonʼt do it. However, this woman is still useful to the Xian Kingdom, so I will hand her over to Xianqin, and she can use her for the benefit of her kingdom.” Zhang Fei then sent Zhou Meiling into the Yin-Yang Space and left the room after the door opened.

Since Xian Changyue and the others had already cleared the areas in front of him, Zhang Fei could easily pass through them, and he used his teleportation ability repeatedly to catch up with them.

”Fei!” Xian Xianqin immediately shouted and ran toward Zhang Fei as soon as he appeared in front of them. She then checked his body from top to bottom, and she was relieved after finding no injuries on him. ”What about that womanʼs soul? Where is Zhou Meiling now?”

”Did you absorb that womanʼs soul?” Xian Changyue also inquired from a slightly distant location.

Zhang Fei shook his head. ”I abandoned my intention to absorb that womanʼs soul, especially since I needed her for something, so I locked her in my soul space for the time being. As for Zhou Meiling, I sent her to my private place, and we will take care of her later.”

”Are you sure it wonʼt be a problem?” Zhang Fei turned to Bai Tianʼer. ”Zhou Xiaochuanʼs aides are still in the waiting room of the tower now, and they will probably suspect us for Zhou Meilingʼs disappearance, especially since our kingdom has always been at odds with the Zhou Kingdom.”

”Well, thatʼs true.” Zhang Fei nodded in agreement. ”No one saw me doing anything to Zhou Meiling, and you guys wonʼt leak this matter to them, right? They will suspect us, but they wonʼt be able to do anything to us as long as we keep quiet.”

”Youʼre right.” Bai Tianʼer nodded in response, then turned her attention to the two groups that had just arrived. The arrival of Long Chenʼs group and Xian Jinglanʼs group brought them relief.

”Haha!” Long Chen suddenly laughed as he walked beside Zhang Fei. ”Unfortunately, we just met here, so we didnʼt have the chance to spar.”

Zhang Fei himself actually wanted to spar with Long Chen and Long Tian, especially since both of them were pure dragons, so his bloodline would be useless to fight them. ”Isnʼt there still the survival challenge? We can spar there later, but we must defeat the final boss to leave this place.”

Long Chen nodded in agreement before glancing at the people. ”I donʼt know what kind of beast weʼll be facing this time, but itʼll probably be stronger than the last maze challenge. If we work together to fight it, we may be able to defeat it faster using our numbers.”

”Then what are we waiting for? Letʼs go in now.” Xi Xianzi spoke as she took out the golden key that belonged to her group.

Long Chen and Zhang Fei also took out their golden keys, and the three of them immediately shot into the keyhole of the gate, unlocking it directly.

Long Chen, Xian Jinglan, and Zhang Fei immediately led their members into it before the gates closed again.

*Roar*

A loud and deafening roar from a beast greeted them from inside, pushing all of them back. A powerful soul attack followed, compelling nearly everyone to kneel on the ground, with the exception of Zhang Fei, Bai Tianʼer, Long Feng, Long Tian, Xian Jinglan, and Xi Xianzi.

Long Chen and Long Tianʼs expressions darkened as they saw the gigantic beast standing upright on all fours in the middle of the room. Xian Jinglan and Xi Xianziʼs expressions were also not good, especially since the beast was no different from the strange beasts they had encountered before.

”Another chimera beast, huh?” Zhang Fei muttered as he enveloped his group with his light element and soul power, especially since the beastʼs soul attack just now was very strong, suppressing the souls of non-soul cultivators.

Xian Jinglan, like Zhang Fei, took action to protect her group of non-soul cultivators. She continued to gaze at the beast, contemplating a strategy to defeat it, especially since not all of them were capable of fighting it.

[Master, the strength of this chimera beast surpasses that of the previous one, reaching the 5-Moon Divine Expansion Realm. Moreover, the system detected some mythical beast bloodline in its body, but it does not have the demon bloodline like the previous one, so you must be extra careful when fighting it.]

Zhang Fei frowned after hearing that, and he immediately informed their group members, causing all of them to become tense. After all, the majority of their cultivation was in the quasi-divine realm, with Xian Changyue being the strongest among them, having reached the 3-Moon Divine Expansion realm.

Unlike the strength of the cultivators in the ten mortal realms, the strength of the cultivators in the seven divine realms is much different at each level, so the beastʼs strength clearly overpowers them.

Zhang Fei immediately summoned the demon extermination sword, and he also took the moonlit whisper sword. ”It appears that the tower owner does not want us to pass this maze challenge by sending such a powerful beast, so we have no choice but to fight it with all our might.”

All of them immediately took out their respective weapons and prepared to fight the last boss, but Zhang Fei asked those who were not soul cultivators not to get too close to the beast because the impact of its soul attacks would be stronger if they were too close to it, so he asked them to focus more on using long-range attacks.

”Letʼs go!”
