Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 430: Era of the Beginning

The further he walked, the more statues Zhang Fei discovered, which made him curious and horrified at the same time, especially since all the statues in that place looked very ancient. ”Dang! This place is really creepy, Mei! What kind of place is this? Why are there statues of all races here?

Look at those beastsʼ statues; their ranks vary from ordinary beasts to mythical beasts, and I canʼt recognize some of them, so I thought they were immortal rank beasts.”

[I think so too, master. Those beast races are not registered in the system, so they are probably immortal rank beasts.]

Zhang Fei let out a heavy sigh before his gaze shifted to the large room in front of him, so he quickly flew there. However, he immediately froze in place as he stared at the beast statue in the middle of the room, especially since it was a statue of the ten-tailed fox, and the statue was truly similar to his soul that he had encountered in the fairy forests.

Zhang Fei then looked at the statues of beasts that were lined up around the room, starting from a golden dragon, a phoenix, a vermilion bird, an azure dragon, a white tiger, a black tortoise, a heavenly fox, and so on.

Zhang Fei was not interested in the statues of other mythical beasts, but he was very interested in the statue of the ten-tailed fox. He then transformed into his half-fox form and approached the statue, immediately touching it and channeling his heavenly fox aura. ”It appears that this statue is just an ordinary statue, and I canʼt sense the presence of the old fox in it.”

After that, Zhang Fei continued to the next room, where he found many statues of demons. In the middle of the room, there was a statue of a giant male demon with two long horns on his forehead, and his entire body was covered in a black robe. Below the statue, there was a statue of a three-headed dog similar to a cerberus.

However, the appearance of the statue was very strange, and he felt that the male demon was a combination of several types of demons, especially since he also had the character of an incubus.

Zhang Fei then turned to the seven demon statues on the side of the room, five of which were male demon statues, and the other two were female demon statues, all of which also had giant bodies.

[Master, they seem to be ancient demons, and they should have lived in the distant past. The male giant demon in the middle is definitely their leader, but his appearance is truly unusual.]

”Youʼre probably right, Mei.” Zhang Fei then glanced at the third room and proceeded directly there, where he discovered statues representing a variety of natural races, including fairies, elves, centaurs, and more.

Zhang Fei was confused seeing those statues bowing towards the statue of a woman in the middle of the room, especially since it also had a giant body like the statues of the demons in the room previously. ”Could this woman belong to the giant race? As far as I remember, there were no giant races in the fairy forest, and Grandpa Oliver led the natural races there.

However, this female giant seems to be the real leader of the natural races, and the other races seem to really respect her.”

Zhang Fei then looked towards the fourth room, and he thought that the room should contain statues of humans. However, his thoughts were proven wrong when he entered the room, especially since it was filled with the demihuman statues, and the statue in the middle is a statue of a male demihuman, who has the appearance of a humanoid dragon, but his entire body is red.

”A demihuman with dragon bloodlines, huh? Dragons are one of the strongest mythical beasts, so itʼs natural for this man to lead the demihuman races.”

In the next room, Zhang Fei finally found statues of humans, and he could see various human races like the humans living on earth. Some have white skin like westerners and Chinese, some have tan skin, some have black skin, and so on. However, all the statues were too old, so they were clearly humans from a distant era in the past.

Unlike the previous four rooms, there was no statue in the middle of the room, indicating that they had no leader.

After he looked at all the statues, Zhang Fei went straight to the last room, but he did not find any statues in it, so the room was completely empty, which confused him. ”Why is there nothing in this place?”

[Master, there are only five races in this universe: humans, demihumans, beasts, natural races, and demons. So I think itʼs natural that this last room is empty.]

Zhang Fei nodded in agreement with Mei, but he immediately looked at the walls around the room, which surprised him a little, especially since every wall was covered in paintings. He then approached the right wall of the room, and he looked at the painting with the number 1, but his expression became serious when he realized the meaning of the painting.

”Mei, these are the painting of this universe, right?”

[It seems so, Master.] Mei then scanned all the paintings on the wall and saved them into the system. [Master, this first painting seems to be the beginning before this universe was formed, and there was only chaos at that time.]

”I think so.” Zhang Fei then moved on to the second painting, which was divided into two: light and dark. Planets, sun, moon, and stars already exist in the painting. ”This painting should be the beginning of the birth of this universe, and there were no living creatures at that time.”

[Yes, you are right, Master.]

In the third painting, Zhang Fei discovered a depiction of mythical beasts. However, two beasts, whose appearances were ambiguous, towered over the others. One beast had a completely white body with two golden eyes, and it was in the light section. The other beast has a completely black body with bloodshot eyes, and it is in the dark section.

Zhang Fei then rubbed the beast in the dark section. ”Mei, these two beasts should be the primordial beasts, but I didnʼt expect that there would be only two beasts. These ten beasts should be immortal beasts; below them are mythical beasts, divine beasts, heaven-rank beasts, and so on.”

[Yes, master. However, I didnʼt expect that beasts were born before the other living beings, and humans were the last living beings to be born. However, their numbers are far greater than other living beings now; even the population of the earth is around 8.2 billion people now.]

”Hahaha.” Zhang Fei laughed when he heard that. ”After all, humans are too active in producing offspring, and I myself am thinking of having so many children in the future, so it is natural that our numbers are much greater now.”

[Tch! If you really wanted to have children from all your wives and partners, the number of your descendants would probably surpass the current number of humans, and your descendants would dominate this universe if that happened.]

Zhang Fei smiled to himself as he thought about the matter, but he thought it would be interesting if his descendants were spread across all realms throughout the universe. Unfortunately, that wonʼt happen anytime soon, especially since he himself still doesnʼt want to have children.

Zhang Fei then proceeded to the fourth painting, where he was astonished to witness the phenomenon of demon birth, particularly given that the demon originated from a giant egg.

The first demon born was a male demon on the statue in the middle of the second room, and the second demon born was a female demon, whose appearance is not much different from the male demon, which makes them the ancestors of demons. ”These two are the first and second demons, so they should be powerful, and they are probably no less powerful than the primordial beasts.

However, Iʼm confused why there are no statues of the two primordial beasts in the first room, and the statue of the ten-tailed fox is in the middle of the room instead.”

In the fifth painting, Zhang Fei saw the birth process of the natural races, starting with the giant races, and various races were born after them. ”Interesting! All natural races are born from all the elements in this universe, so itʼs no wonder that they are so friendly with nature, and they can also borrow natural power.”

In the sixth painting, Zhang Fei sees various beasts transforming into humans, but they still retain their beast characteristics, indicating the birth of the demihuman races.

The seventh painting depicts the birth of the first male human from the earth, followed by the creation of a female human from one of his ribs. Zhang Fei was slightly taken aback upon witnessing this. ”Oh? Iʼm not a religious person, but I didnʼt expect this painting to be similar to the story of the birth of humans that I often hear on earth.

These two are the ancestors of all humans, so I myself am one of their descendants.”

After that, Zhang Fei went towards the left wall of the room, but he frowned because the paintings on that wall completely contradicted all the paintings on the right wall. ”Mei, these paintings.”

[Yes, Master. All the paintings on the left wall show the problems that arose after the creation of all living things. Not only humans, but demihumans, demons, and beasts have their hidden desire to dominate all races. Based on all these paintings, only the natural races do not have such desires, and they prefer to distance themselves from such matters.

Even so, the other living beings still disturb their peace, and they also slaughter too many members of the natural races.]

Zhang Fei took a deep breath and nodded slightly. ”The chaos in this universe has started since the birth of living beings, huh? Billions of years have passed since their birth, but their ambition and greed have been ingrained in their souls, which is passed down to the next generations, including the current generations.

Thatʼs why this universe can never be peaceful, especially since there are too many ambitious and greedy living beings in it. I admit that I am like them, and I may be worse.”

[Itʼs good that you realize that youʼre like them, master.]

Meiʼs reply made Zhang Feiʼs lips twitch, but he then walked to see all the paintings on the left wall of the room, which all depicted chaos and destruction in different eras; even many realms had been destroyed due to the ambition and greed of the living beings.

However, Zhang Fei only found less than half of the paintings on the last wall, and they showed the current situation of the universe. ”So this wall depicts the current era, huh? Since the current era is still ongoing, this painting is not complete, and it will probably be complete after this era ends.”

{Youʼre right, Zhang Fei}

”Eh?” Zhang Fei immediately turned to the voice owner, and a mature woman with a flawless appearance stood at the end of the room. He saw five other figures behind her, and he recognized them as the ancestors of all living beings. He then approached them and bowed slightly to them, but the woman immediately waved her hand and raised his head.

”Itʼs my honor to meet all of you, the ancestors of all living beings.” The five figures seemed to smile upon hearing him, but Zhang Fei then spoke to the woman. ”Forgive me, but I cannot recognize you, especially since there are no clues about you in this strange place, Senior.”

The woman smiled upon hearing that. {Naturally, you wonʼt be able to find any clues about me in this place, especially since Iʼm not a living creature like all of you, and only living creatures will be recorded in this place.}

”Eh?” Zhang Fei stared at the woman in shock, especially since her form and appearance were no different from a female human. ”If youʼre not a living being like us, then who are you, Senior? Moreover, what is this place actually? Why does this place record all of the events that have ever happened in this universe?”

{The universe and I are one, so I have no name, and I have no form. I used this form because I know you like women, so we can talk more easily.} The womanʼs answer made Mei laugh out loud in her masterʼs mind, and Zhang Fei laughed bitterly because she thought he was a lecher who always thought about women.

{I call this place the Era of the Beginning, a place that records all occurrences in the universe, from birth to destruction.}

Zhang Fei nodded slightly before asking the woman again. ”Why did you call me here, senior? Previously, there were several powerful people trapped inside this space rift, and they should be more worthy than me to meet you and see this place, right?”

{They are not worthy to set foot in this place, let alone meet me.} The woman then waved her hand, causing Zhang Fei to feel like his body was being split into several pieces. Soon, his incubus form and his fox form appear on both sides, shocking him. {In this universe, you are the only one who has three real forms, so you are the only living being worthy of coming here.}

Zhang Fei sighed heavily in his heart, especially since he never chose to have the other two forms, and it was the girl who killed and saved him that turned him into what he is now. However, he didnʼt expect that the events of that day would change his fate so much, and he now stands in front of the ancestors of all living creatures, as well as the embodiment of the universe.

{Zhang Fei, I know this is not your wish, but you are the chosen one, and you cannot escape your fate to unite all living beings. I hope you can accept your fate; otherwise, this universe will never be peaceful.}

”My fate?” Zhang Fei then said to the woman. ”Honestly, I have accepted my fate, or else I would not be standing here now. Since you can read my mind, you should already know that I am a selfish human being, and I donʼt care about the fate of others.”

{Is that so?} The woman then waved her hand again, and many images appeared on the roomʼs ceiling, all of which were about Zhang Fei. {You said that you donʼt care about the fate of others, but all your actions say otherwise.

Moreover, you yourself know that deep down in your heart you care about others, but you keep trying to deny it because you think that caring about them will be your weakness, especially after Chen Xin betrayed you, and Zhang He kept bullying you.}
