CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 2086: Chapter 2094: Waiting Forever

Her voice was a bit anxious, ”Auntie, think about it, if something really happened, how come the other two bodies were found but not James Black’s? Right? It means James Black is still fine!”

”And besides,” Jane Sampson stood up again, ”after James Black sent me away, he must have gone to meet up with that young man. If Big Brother really intended to kill, there’s no way James Black would sit there waiting for death. Not a single message was sent out, and with James Black’s skills, how could it be possible that the young man and the mute aunt had no chance to resist and were killed just like that?”

What Jane Sampson said sounded particularly reasonable.

But in reality?

It couldn’t stand up to scrutiny; once scrutinized, it was full of holes.

Brooke Black didn’t argue with Jane Sampson anymore, because, deep down, Brooke Black hoped so too.

”You’re right. He won’t be in trouble.” Brooke Black gently reassured Jane Sampson, ”He’s James Black. Over the years, how many times has he faced near-death situations and still returned safe and sound?”

Jane Sampson nodded heavily, agreeing with a hum.

Brooke Black smiled in relief and then said, ”It’s still early, you go back to the room and rest for a while. Don’t tell Peter Gingery about this for now, he’s not as calm as you. Sleep for a bit, Aunt will call us for breakfast later.”

Jane Sampson nodded in agreement, saying okay.

But when she returned to the room, lying in bed, she couldn’t feel a bit sleepy.

The double bed, before, she truly wished she could forever occupy the space for two people alone.

Now she hoped James Black would come back soon and hold her while sleeping; she didn’t need so much space.

All she needed was a hug from James Black.

That’s all.

Jane Sampson seriously looked around the room for the first time.

This was the place James Black had lived since he was a young man. It was only later, when they got married, that the Black Family redecorated part of the house according to her preferred style.

However, Jane Sampson still knew where James Black kept the box containing all his medals, and she knew which drawer held all the certificates he had received since he was a child.

This room was filled with traces of James Black.

He even kept the calligraphy sheets he practiced with during elementary school.

After marriage, they moved out of here, but James Black didn’t move many things to their new house, so all the memories of his growing years were stored here.

Jane Sampson sat back down on the bed again, then sighed and said to the air, ”James Black, you have to be okay.”

She would wait for him at home, however long it took.

She believed he would keep his promise.

At seven o’clock, Auntie went upstairs to call everyone for breakfast, right on time.

Since Old Master Black was still resting, everyone naturally lowered their voices and lightened their steps going downstairs.

”How is the old sir?” Father Gingery asked Auntie while adjusting the cufflinks on his shirt.

”He’s asleep, don’t worry, no fever,” Auntie said. ”His complexion looked much better than when I went in this morning. This morning was probably because he didn’t rest overnight; he’s getting older and can’t stay up all night anymore. Not having a good rest overnight made him look a bit scary.”

Father Gingery nodded and reminded, ”Take good care of the old sir, check on him whether he’s asleep or awake, and make some dishes he likes when he wakes up.”

”Use less soy sauce and salt,” Jane Sampson added, ”Grandfather always wants to eat strong flavors, but if he eats too much, his liver won’t be able to take it. He’s really hard to manage, always disobedient, and when we aren’t home, he asks Auntie to make all sorts of greasy stuff, worse than me.”
