CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 2061: Chapter 2069: Competing for the Inheritance

”Dad?” Bright Sampton was taken aback.

Since that home fell apart, Bright Sampton had not seen Father Sampton, not even a phone call.

Father Sampton was angry that Bright Sampton helped outsiders instead of his own biological father, so he even blacklisted Bright Sampton’s phone number.

As a result, Bright Sampton did not specifically inquire about Father Sampton’s affairs and did not know how Father Sampton had been doing recently.

Anyway, Bright Sampton thought, even if half the divorce property went to the mother, his father still kept half of the assets. These assets included real estate, jewelry, and of course cash, so he was not worried that Father Sampton would starve or freeze to death.

”I finally realized that besides being selfish and ruthless, Dad is also extremely greedy.” Julie scoffed, ”Bright, do you know why Dad arranged to meet Mom and me?”

”You probably wouldn’t even dare to dream of it.” Mother Sampton sighed, her face full of disappointment and sorrow.

”What?” Peter Gingery became extremely curious.

”After my good father learned that his former foster daughter had been suddenly murdered, he got the idea to go after Jane Sampson’s inheritance. He even said that Jane Sampson held an amazingly large amount of assets and that if he went to court, even a tiny part of it would likely be over 100 million. He said that if Mom and I helped him as witnesses, proving he fulfilled his responsibilities for raising Jane Sampson, he promised to give 20% to Mom and me, no matter how much he got from Jane Sampson’s inheritance.”

When Julie said this, she found it laughably absurd and chilling, so after she finished speaking, she let out a derisive laugh while sitting there, ”Mom and I rushed here to give you a heads-up because who knows, even before Jane Sampson’s remains are buried, a court summons might first arrive at the Black Family.”

”He’s probably thinking that since Sampson was young, she couldn’t possibly have made a will beforehand. Besides, Jane Sampson’s death was sudden, so there was no time for a last word and a will. That’s why he sees this as a chance to fight for Jane Sampson’s massive inheritance.” Even Mother Sampton herself felt ashamed of her ex-husband when she spoke.

Thinking about the property of the deceased, coveting what’s not yours, and eyeing the possessions of a younger foster daughter, each of these things made Mother Sampton feel disgraced.

”Everyone knows Jane Sampson held shares of Black Corp. Just this alone was enough to make my good father excited, and he even thought that if he could get a bit of Black Corp’s shares, he’d live worry-free for the rest of his life,” Julie said, ”So, you need to prepare in advance, or else you’re really going to let him take advantage. If Jane Sampson knows about this underground, she might be fuming with anger.”

”Why would Dad do this? He has money in hand.” Bright Sampton could hardly believe his ears because, in his eyes, his father had no reason to do such disgraceful things.

”Who can dislike having too much money?” Julie retorted, and then said, ”Moreover, Dad doesn’t have much money now. Not long after Mom went abroad, his money was conned in the name of investment. The only remaining asset he has is that house of about 100 square meters in the city district. Since it’s his only place to live, he couldn’t bring himself to sell it when he made investments back then, and that’s the only reason he didn’t end up on the street.”
