Chapter 2060: Chapter 2068: Didn’t Have Time to Prepare

”Mom.” Bright Sampton called out to Mother Sampton, then glanced at Julie Sampton before softly saying, ”Sister.”

Julie Sampson was a bit surprised by Bright Sampton’s use of ’sister’, so she replied with a soft ”Mm,” and walked inside with her hand on Mother’s Sampton’s arm.

Upon entering, Julie Sampson glanced around the Black Family’s living room, and Mother Sampton also looked around, then frowned.

”How are the arrangements for Jane’s funeral? Is the Memorial Hall being set up at their own house?” Mother Sampton, being a senior, felt a tinge of dissatisfaction seeing that the Black Residence showed no signs of mourning after entering.

Jane Sampson had been gone for a while, but the Black Family showed no signs of preparing for a funeral. What does this imply? It implies that the Black Family doesn’t care about Jane Sampson’s death.

It also implies that the Black Family doesn’t value Jane Sampson.

”Jane’s remains haven’t been brought back yet. Previously, we couldn’t believe Jane had been assassinated, so we didn’t want to hold a funeral for the living man. We’ve been waiting for news, but unexpectedly, we just received a call from the police. The specifics are all on Twitter, and you both should be aware of it.”

Brooke Black explained, ”We were just caught off guard and didn’t have time to organize.”

Hearing Brooke Black’s explanation made Julie Sampson and Mother Sampton feel a bit at ease.

Indeed, everyone in the Black Family cared deeply for Jane Sampson. It’s impossible that the Black Family would make no gesture at all regarding Jane Sampson’s assassination.

Therefore, Brooke Black’s explanation makes sense.

”Tomorrow, Bright and I will go bring her back.” Mother Sampton spoke with a hint of tears, ”I never thought Jane would suddenly just leave like this.”

After all, having raised the child at one’s side, even if the relationship had been severed and there were no longer any interests involved, Jane Sampson had shown kindness to Julie Sampson, and Bright Sampson fully relied on Jane Sampson’s care domestically. Therefore, speaking of Jane Sampson, Mother Sampton felt quite saddened.

”Where’s James Black?” Mother Sampton asked hurriedly, not seeing him, ”Why isn’t he at home? With such a major event happening, could he still be staying with the guard team?”

”Brother-in-law went on a mission before my sister’s incident, and we’ve been unable to reach him, so he also temporarily doesn’t know about my sister’s situation,” Bright Sampson explained on James Black’s behalf.

At such times, for Mother Sampton’s questioning, a single explanation from Bright Sampson was more effective than countless words from the Black Family members.

”Tomorrow, when claiming the remains, there will definitely be many reporters blocking our way. Mom, you shouldn’t go. Brother Peter Gingery and I will go.” Bright Sampson thought, Jane Sampson is alive upstairs, there can’t be any remains.

If by chance, Mother Sampson also went and insisted on verifying the remains, how could that be handled? Wouldn’t it just expose everything?

”I will go with these two children as well,” Brooke Black said, ”So you all can wait in the Capital Province for the news.”

Mother Sampton was somewhat intimidated by the Black Family, so after Brooke Black spoke, Mother Sampton agreed with a delayed ”Oh.”

After talking about Jane Sampson’s funeral arrangements, Julie Sampson spoke about another reason for coming over so late.

”Originally, Mom and I should have come this afternoon, but we were delayed by other matters,” Julie Sampson said, involuntarily glancing at Bright Sampson.

Then she continued, ”In the afternoon, after my dad knew mom and I had returned domestically, he hurriedly asked us out and then told us something.”
