I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 398: Chapter 397

Beisitian arrived at the place where Ma Tianlai lived because someone said his son needed a place with fresher air. So, he found a place near the North Sea. There are also many courtyards full of ancient charm here, and Ma Tianlai, being a cultured person, loved these courtyards very much. He bought two at once, right next to each other.

Ma Tianlai connected them, turning them into a grand Tian Family-like compound, which appeared quite imposing.

”It’s a good time to buy houses now; these houses will appreciate in value in the future,” Ma Tianlai said with a smile.

He actually wanted to buy a few more. After all, Beijing is the capital, the political center. Although it’s still in the development stage, it’s only a matter of time before it grows. Once the population influx happens, property prices will surely go up.

Even though he wasn’t in the real estate business, he had foresight that these were inevitable trends.

A political center, an economic center, real estate may fluctuate in the short term, but in the long run, the curve will definitely trend upward!

Beisitian didn’t know much about this, but after hearing Ma Tianlai’s words, she felt there was some truth in it. Once she made money, buying a few small courtyards wasn’t a bad idea.

Beisitian knew her strengths and weaknesses, so she could take in what successful business people like Ma Tianlai said. It was precisely because of Ma Tianlai’s words today that she bought a few small courtyards in the following years, and later their value multiplied many times. Just owning those houses ensured her a comfortable living.

When Beisitian saw Ma Dong, she frowned. Did this family really offend the Mystic Doctor?

Ma Tianlai showed traces of bad water on him, and his son was even deeply affected by the poison of bad water!

”Mr. Ma, could you tell me how your son ended up like this?” Beisitian looked at Ma Tianlai.

Ma Tianlai composed himself, glanced around, and the few bodyguards and servants who came with him immediately stepped out.

Only Beisitian, Ma Tianlai, and the unconscious Ma Dong were left in the room.

Ma Tianlai’s expression was solemn, and he said: ”This matter is a bit strange; of course, I’m not exaggerating!”

He was setting the stage, worried that Beisitian might not believe him. Even he himself found it hard to believe. When he took his son to those big hospitals, people just laughed at what he said, not believing a word.

Later, through various connections, he vaguely learned who those people were and didn’t dare to talk about it carelessly outside. But to treat his son, he needed to recount the process, which put him in a difficult position. After running to many places and many big hospitals, which all said they couldn’t treat his son, he had no choice but to think of Wu Yuekai, who had extensive connections, to help him find folk experts.

”After school, I took my son to dinner because he left something in the car. I initially wanted the bodyguard to retrieve it, but my son said he’d get it himself,” Ma Tianlai said, looking down. If only he had stopped his son then, the nightmare wouldn’t have started.

”My son didn’t come back for a long time, so I went to find him. You know, people like us have to bring bodyguards when we go out; it was very chaotic there. When I arrived, I saw a few people in a standoff, and my heart sank. Those people probably saw we had more people, so they splashed a bottle of water on my son. My son just randomly wiped his face, then fell backward...”

As Ma Tianlai recounted and reflected, he initially thought the person splashed some corrosive liquid like sulfuric acid and was terrified, hurriedly running over. However, he found that his son was just thoroughly wet without being corroded as imagined.

Despite this, his son couldn’t be woken up no matter how they called him. He hurriedly took his son to the hospital. When they arrived, the water stains on his son had already dried. The doctors checked him over but found nothing wrong. Yet, the child wouldn’t wake up, as if he were asleep, but his heart rate was very low, more like in shock.

Ma Tianlai looked all over the hospitals in Hong Kong but couldn’t cure his son. He then traveled abroad, but even those famous doctors abroad couldn’t help and even wanted to keep his son for research.

He was furious at the time, almost going mad with worry. Those damn foreign doctors wanted to make his son a research object!

In a panic, he hurriedly took his son back to the country. After inquiring through many channels, he came to the Mainland, thinking of Wu Yuekai, whom he had exchanged with annually. Knowing he had wide connections, he had no choice but to ask him to look into folk experts.

”Doctor Bei, everything I said is true. My son really was just splashed with a bottle of water and then ended up like this!” Ma Tianlai emphasized at the end.

No matter who he told, each time he got to this point, it was met with a shaking head and a smile. He really wanted to curse; laugh at what, damn it, I’m about to go crazy, and you’re still laughing!

Ma Tianlai wondered whether to say more, as these were things he learned afterward. It seemed those people weren’t ordinary people, and his son saw some sordid dealings between those two groups, getting splashed and remaining in a coma.

These things were hard to find out, and the reason he didn’t dare to speak lightly about them was fear of bringing trouble; those people were not simple.

Fortunately, Beisitian didn’t show that extremely uncomfortable smile like others did, which was a relief for Ma Tianlai.

Although he wasn’t entirely trusting of Beisitian yet, just by looking, she could identify his ailments and even deduce his stomach pain, things that even his wife and son didn’t know.

Beisitian quietly listened to Ma Tianlai’s account, unsure if it was because she had less exposure or if those Mystic Doctors were more rampant in Hong Kong.

”Your son’s problem isn’t quite a big issue,” Beisitian said, looking at Ma Dong.

Ma Tianlai was taken aback; this isn’t a big problem? Or does Beisitian also think that what was splashed was just clear water?

”Doctor Bei, pardon my bluntness, but what was splashed was definitely not clear water, nor any kind of drink, and I can be sure it’s because of that bottle of water that my son became like this!” He didn’t know what it was, but it was certainly not clear water.

Ma Tianlai seemed a bit angry. Why didn’t anyone believe him?

Beisitian nodded gently, ”Your son did become like this because of that thing, and it indeed wasn’t clear water.”

Ma Tianlai was again stunned, ”Then why...” he thought it wasn’t a big problem?

Then he realized there was an issue with Beisitian’s words: could it be she knew what it was!

”Doctor Bei, you know what it is, don’t you?” Ma Tianlai hurriedly asked.

”That’s bad water, and only one type of doctor in the world can make it,” Beisitian said calmly, making Ma Tianlai’s heart race with anxiety, ”Your son’s coma isn’t the big problem; the issue is if he wakes up, will those people come looking for him again.”

Ma Tianlai’s hands began to tremble. He hadn’t found out what that thing was called after all that effort, only knowing that indeed only one kind of person could make it. Those people were called Mystic Doctors!
