I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 368: Chapter 367: He Refuses

Tian Zhi was very happy to see his father return and was just thinking about having a good chat with him when he saw his father looking shocked, and it was directed at his cousin, Beisitian.

Beisitian smiled slightly and called out ’Uncle Fifth’.

Tian Qingyao still hadn’t recovered from his shock and turned to his elder brother, Tian Qinghui, and asked, ”Is she, is she that person?”

Upon hearing the girl call him Uncle Fifth, he suddenly felt uncertain.

Tian Qingyao nodded, ”Yes, it’s definitely her.”

Upon receiving a definite answer, Tian Qingyao realized he hadn’t mistaken her identity, and his mind was racing, overwhelmed with indescribable feelings.

The person those old folks went through so much trouble to find was not only at his house but also called him Uncle Fifth!

Does this mean he has a niece who is a Mystic Doctor?!

”Did something change over at General Zhou’s side?” Tian Heming, seeing his son’s foolish expression, couldn’t bear to look directly and could only temporarily divert his attention.

This matter was indeed shocking, especially to these sons who had just learned of the existence of Mystic Doctors.

Upon hearing Tian Heming’s inquiry, Tian Qingyao snapped back to reality and hurriedly said, ”Much better, Dad, since you both went last time, the numbers that had dropped rose again, and General Zhou’s health is quite good now...”

At this point, he suddenly realized something and turned to look at Beisitian. He remembered very clearly that the person named Wei had said that only that mysterious Mystic Doctor acting again could possibly stabilize General Zhou’s condition.

Now that mysterious Mystic Doctor was in his house, and General Zhou recovered after his parents visited. Obviously, his parents and elder brother already knew Beisitian’s identity!

They really kept him in the dark!

”Uncle Fifth, please sit,” Beisitian said.

Tian Qingyao quickly said, ”I’ll sit, I’ll sit!”

His manner was very courteous, and like Tian Qingyao, he couldn’t treat Beisitian purely as a niece.

Tian Zhi stared blankly at his father, unable to understand why as an uncle, he was being so courteous to his niece. No, it wasn’t just courteous, it seemed to carry some restraint and respect.

Uncle respecting the niece?

The more Tian Zhi thought about it, the more incredible it seemed.

Though Tian Zhi didn’t know the situation, his gaze toward Beisitian had changed. First, his grandparents and uncle behaved oddly, and now his father was acting this way. What exactly was the background of this cousin?

Only after Tian Qingyao’s initial surprise did he realize why his son Tian Zhi was here.

He turned to see Tian Qingyao nod at him, and he could only walk over and sit down, but Tian Qingyao didn’t explain explicitly, only signaling him not to speak much.

Beisitian remained silent, but Tian Heming spoke up, ”Beibei, how is this kid, Xiao Zhi?”

Beisitian showed a hint of satisfaction, ”Solid foundation, good perception, excellent memory, and most importantly, abundant spirit.”

”In that case...”

Hearing Beisitian’s praises for Tian Zhi, Tian Heming couldn’t help but feel a bit excited.

”Xiao Zhi is a good candidate. If Grandpa feels assured, let him follow me and learn for a while.” Beisitian did not immediately accept him as a disciple.

Although Tian Zhi was impressive in many aspects, and Beisitian was somewhat tempted, this was their first meeting. Beisitian didn’t know his character yet, and wouldn’t it be a waste to pour all her efforts if he turned out to be a wolf, especially a thankless one?

Tian Heming also didn’t expect Beisitian to take on a disciple immediately. He knew the Mystic Doctors were very particular about accepting disciples and took it very seriously. He was already quite happy that Beisitian was willing to let Tian Zhi follow her and learn.

On the other hand, Tian Qinghui was a bit disappointed. He didn’t really understand the ways of the Mystic Doctors. Tian Heming had only mentioned a few things before and didn’t explain much, so he naturally didn’t know the importance of accepting disciples as a Mystic Doctor.

Tian Zhi listened, completely bewildered. Although this cousin was very capable, he was a junior year student in a traditional Chinese medicine college. Being asked to learn from his cousin felt peculiar.

And seeing his grandparents and uncle looking so happy?

He couldn’t help but look at Tian Qingyao, only to see his father standing there foolishly, lost in thought, so he softly called out, ”Dad?”

He hoped Tian Qingyao would say something because he didn’t want to learn traditional Chinese medicine from a cousin barely two years older than himself. There was already a systematic knowledge system at the school, and his family had Tian Heming and Dong Fengzhen, both highly respected. Did he really need someone else to teach him?

”Xiao Zhi, hurry up and thank Beibei!” Tian Heming hurriedly urged the dazed Tian Zhi.

Tian Qingyao also snapped back to reality, quickly pulling Tian Zhi up, prompting him to bow to Beisitian, ”Quickly thank... um, your cousin, and learn well from your cousin in the future!”

Tian Zhi really didn’t know what to say. Why did his father also have a look of delight?

Tian Zhi wasn’t one to be easily swayed. He was deeply curious and a bit unconvinced, so he didn’t bow and thank her as expected, nor did he show the look of delight like everyone else. He didn’t even know what to be happy about.

”Dad, Grandpa, Grandma, Uncle, I’m a junior in college now. The school has everything in terms of knowledge, and there are many ancient books at home, so I don’t think it’s necessary...”

”Shut up!” Tian Qingyao sharply interrupted, his voice low, cutting off his refusal. This opportunity was so rare; if he let it go, he would regret it to death.

Tian Zhi pressed his lips together, stubbornness kicking in, and simply stopped talking.

Tian Heming and Dong Fengzhen also frowned, and Tian Qinghui looked visibly anxious. For anyone else, this would seem like a pie falling from the sky. Tian Zhi had always been smart, why had he turned foolish today!

They worried Beisitian might be displeased and therefore refuse to accept Tian Zhi as her disciple.

Unexpectedly, Beisitian burst out laughing, looking at Tian Zhi and shaking her head, making everyone nervous. She laughed but shook her head?

Beisitian actually remembered when her master found her. Back then, she didn’t know anything about medicine and didn’t care about the master taking her as a disciple, even thinking he was a swindler. In the end, the master had to promise to help her leave the family temple before successfully accepting her as a disciple.

Thinking of those days, Beisitian felt both amused and sentimental, and her gaze towards Tian Zhi softened.

”Uncle Fifth, let Xiao Zhi follow me for now. We’ll talk when I leave.”

The Mystic Doctor was very cautious when accepting disciples. At most, she planned to make Tian Zhi a named disciple and consider further plans after thorough understanding.

Back then, her master observed her for two whole years before stepping forward.

If the character was bad, successfully teaching would mean nurturing a scourge for the world, making her a sinner. This would harm her moral integrity!

Tian Heming and the others breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. As long as Beisitian didn’t refuse, that was good. It was clear that Tian Zhi indeed had talent; otherwise, Beisitian wouldn’t have accommodated him like this.
