I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 358: Chapter 357: Aunt

”So if you’re not missing me, what is it?” Beisitian raised an eyebrow and retorted.

”Are you not telling the truth?” Tian Qiu narrowed her eyes and immediately reached for Beisitian, trying to tickle her underarms.

Beisitian quickly dodged; she was very ticklish!

Tian Qiu drove Beisitian to the Tian Family’s home, and upon arrival, they discovered that Third Aunt Su Lan and Fourth Aunt Lei Yehong had returned.

Third Aunt Su Lan was Tian Lei’s mother. She was very fair-skinned and a bit plump, which made her look quite affluent. Her lips were slightly upturned, and she always smiled before speaking. Seeing Tian Qiu return, she laughed and said, ”Xiaoqiu, no work today?”

”I took a day off.” Tian Qiu chuckled.

Fourth Aunt Lei Yehong gave Tian Qiu a sidelong glance, ”It’s nice to have one’s own family business—take leave whenever you want. But the Weng Family should give you some real power. Otherwise, it won’t sound good if people say the young lady of the Tian Family is not respected outside.”

Tian Qiu’s smile faded slightly. She knew that Fourth Aunt Lei Yehong’s words bore ill intent, yet she couldn’t help feeling uneasy, though she couldn’t pinpoint exactly why since she had already thought it through.

Everyone in the Tian Family knew that the Weng Family didn’t particularly like Tian Qiu. Later, it was rumored that the Weng Family was interested in the Tian Family’s influence in the military, which is why they wanted to bond the two families. However, the Tian Family wasn’t desperate to marry off their daughter, so they naturally refused. However, unexpectedly, Tian Qiu was willing.

Though the Weng Family didn’t have much influence, they were well-established in the business world and were among the first companies to go public, giving them a lot of confidence. If the two families truly united, it could benefit the Tian Family as well.

Although it was heard that the Weng Family was not keen on Tian Qiu, they were still very sincere in their proposal, following all proper etiquette. Since Tian Qiu was willing, the two families were joined.

Married life was quite harmonious, but unfortunately, the couple hadn’t had children, and the Weng Family had several complaints about this.

So Lei Yehong’s words were like sprinkling salt on Tian Qiu’s wound.

Tian Qiu felt downcast and didn’t feel like retorting, so she fell silent.

Su Lan, fearing Tian Qiu would feel upset, quickly laughed and said, ”Is this Xiaoqiu’s friend? It’s been a while since you brought a friend home. Why not introduce her to us?”

Tian Qiu was momentarily stunned, then realized these aunts hadn’t met Beisitian yet. She couldn’t help but smile and said, ”Third Aunt, this is Beisitian!”

The name ’Beisitian’ was well-known in the Tian Family for one reason: Mr. Tian himself had traveled out of town for this granddaughter, a privilege not even the grandsons received!

Su Lan’s smile widened, and she looked at Beisitian with curiosity, saying, ”So this is Sitiang! You’re really beautiful!”

Lei Yehong looked Beisitian up and down with a sidelong glance, devoid of any smile, her eyes carrying scrutiny and indifference.

Everyone always thought Mr. Tian held this granddaughter in high regard, yet she returned without notifying them. How is that a sign of being valued?

It seemed Mr. Tian only went out of town using his granddaughter as an excuse.

”Third Aunt, Fourth Aunt.” Beisitian greeted with a light smile.

Su Lan beamed as she pulled Beisitian over, took off a gold bracelet from her hand, and gave it to Beisitian. ”This is the first time Third Aunt is seeing you, so I wasn’t prepared. This is something I’ve worn; don’t dislike it!”

Beisitian wanted to refuse but was firmly handed the bracelet by Su Lan.

Next to them, Lei Yehong acted as if she hadn’t seen anything, her jade bracelets and gold rings glinting, unwilling to take anything off. In fact, she made a point to flaunt them, fearing others might not notice.

Tian Qiu’s face darkened slightly, but she couldn’t say anything. Giving a gift upon meeting someone is a personal choice; she couldn’t criticize someone for not giving a gift, as that would make them seem wrong.

Still, with Lei Yehong intentionally showing off like that in front of Beisitian, Tian Qiu felt quite stifled.

Beisitian observed Su Lan’s gesture of goodwill and didn’t pay attention to Lei Yehong. She took a small jar from her bag and said, ”Thank you for the gift, Third Aunt. This is from Sitiang to you. It replenishes Qi and blood, adjusts the kidneys and spleen, and can greatly improve complexion.”

Su Lan was already very fair, but her face lacked some rosiness, revealing a need for some care. Although it’s just one jar of medicine, for someone like Su Lan, who doesn’t have major issues, drinking it can be effective, quickly achieving the effect of nurturing Qi and blood.

”I didn’t expect to receive a gift too. Thank you, Sitiang.” Su Lan accepted the small jar and kept it, although she showed enough appreciation, it was only to give Beisitian face and did not actually take it to heart.

Fourth Aunt Lei Yehong curled her lips and muttered, ”Talking about improving complexion, what nonsense!”

Her voice was low, but since there were only a few of them in the hall, everyone heard it clearly. Su Lan felt a little embarrassed, thinking that the fourth sister-in-law was truly unreasonable, why does she have to bite whoever she sees?

Beisitian was just recognized by Mr. Tian, it had nothing to do with her, so why put on such an act at the first meeting?

Su Lan disapproved of Lei Yehong in her heart, but since they were sisters-in-law, they interacted very cautiously. If she said too much, it would make things difficult for the brothers.

Su Lan’s smile faltered a bit, pretending not to hear. However, Tian Qiu couldn’t pretend not to hear.

”Fourth Aunt, what are you muttering about?” Tian Qiu coldly looked at Lei Yehong.

Lei Yehong glared at Tian Qiu, ”What do you mean muttering? Xiaoqiu, speak with respect. If you talk like this at your in-laws, wouldn’t they dislike you even more?”

Lei Yehong knew what Tian Qiu cared about and what bothered her, so she attacked with each word!

Tian Qiu was never one to tolerate things, and with her mood already ruined by Lei Yehong’s constant taunts, she sneered, ”Don’t worry about my issues, Fourth Aunt. Better manage Xiaoying to prevent her from dating around again.”

Lei Yehong’s face suddenly darkened, glaring at Tian Qiu fiercely.

Tian Ying was quite young but very skilled, primarily in dating, changing partners twice a week. Although modern times advocate free love, that’s too unrestrained!

Lei Yehong only had this one precious daughter; she couldn’t bear to restrain her strictly, but not restraining would tarnish the Tian Family’s name. Tian Ying, at a young age, had already become notorious in their social circle and often vied for the grandparents’ favor with Tian Qiu.

Beisitian slightly smiled at this, ”Looks like Little Cousin is impressive. This shows Fourth Aunt’s excellent household management.”

She jabbed at Lei Yehong with a cheerful remark, successfully darkening her face even more. After all, Lei Yehong had no reason to target her.
