I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 354: Chapter 353: Testing the Waters

Du Kai Bo and Wei Zhongxun came together to visit Military Advisor Wu. When they arrived, Military Advisor Wu had just returned.

Wei Zhongxun did not reveal his identity. Hearing that Wu Yuekai’s attending doctor was the left-wing Tao Hailin, he decided not to cause trouble for himself to avoid misunderstandings with the left and right sects. Although he wasn’t afraid, he disliked trouble.

”Military Advisor Wu, it seems your health has improved a lot.” Du Kai Bo said with a smile. Although his rank was higher than Wu Yuekai’s, he didn’t dare to act superior in front of him.

Wu Yuekai was naturally polite as well, ”Thanks to Dean Du, I’m much better now.”

Taking this opportunity, Du Kai Bo said, ”I didn’t do much that time; it was all thanks to that mysterious doctor. Wu Yuekai, you’re quite discreet. Besides Doctor Tao, you have someone else taking care of you.”

Wu Yuekai was taken aback, looking puzzled at Du Kai Bo, ”Dean Du, I don’t quite understand what you’re saying.”

When he saw Du Kai Bo, he knew why he had come. Hearing that General Zhou showed improvement the next day, it surely had something to do with the girl, and he was already prepared, so he didn’t reveal anything.

Du Kai Bo cursed internally, calling him an old fox. He knew Wu Yuekai wouldn’t admit it and said meaningfully, ”Military Advisor Wu, that mysterious doctor came with you yesterday.”

He stared intently at Wu Yuekai’s expression.

Wu Yuekai was somewhat dazed, ”I didn’t bring a doctor with me.”

Du Kai Bo looked at Wu Yuekai’s bewildered expression, pursed his lips. From his expression, it didn’t look like he was pretending, but the person did follow him. How could he claim he didn’t know them?

At this time, Wei Zhongxun spoke up, ”Military Advisor Wu, is that female soldier still around? Can we meet her?”

Wu Yuekai shook his head, ”That person was temporarily seconded to replace Xiao Li. Why, is there a problem?”

Wei Zhongxun stared at him intently, ”Is there a transfer order?”

Wu Yuekai frowned slightly, glanced at him without speaking, and started drinking water.

Du Kai Bo knew it was Wei Zhongxun’s attitude that displeased Military Advisor Wu, so he quickly said, ”Military Advisor Wu, the female soldier you brought gave General Zhou a certain medicine, and now General Zhou’s heart rate has returned to normal. We think if we can find that female soldier, perhaps we can cure General Zhou’s illness!”

Wu Yuekai was moved and put down his cup, ”Is there really such a thing?” He pondered for a moment, ”Indeed, there is a transfer order, but no records are kept, so I don’t have any details about her. I can ask above and look for this female soldier. However, is it really as you say?”

Du Kai Bo nodded, ”Yes.”

Wei Zhongxun asked again, ”Military Advisor Wu, with due respect, why did you leave the female soldier there alone at that time?”

Du Kai Bo heard this question, his gaze flickered slightly, but he said nothing, obviously waiting for Wu Yuekai’s answer as well.

Wu Yuekai glanced at Wei Zhongxun indifferently and asked Du Kai Bo, ”Who is he?”

Du Kai Bo looked at Wei Zhongxun, saw him nod slightly, and then said, ”This is someone sent by the right-wing Wei Family to assist us.”

The right-wing Wei Family—given Wu Yuekai’s background, he couldn’t possibly not understand what these four words represented.

Wu Yuekai squinted his eyes, ”I asked the Sergeant of General Zhou’s Guard Company to convey some intentions from above. I can’t reveal the specifics. You can ask Sergeant Chu about it.”

”So you didn’t intentionally leave that doctor there, Military Advisor Wu?” Wei Zhongxun followed up with another question.

Wu Yuekai snorted coldly, ”What do you mean by that?”

Wei Zhongxun saw that Wu Yuekai was displeased, quickly said, ”Military Advisor Wu, there’s some misunderstanding. But that doctor is very important to us, and General Zhou’s illness might depend on her. It’s really worrisome that we can’t find her.”

Although Wei Zhongxun was young, he was indeed a Mystic Doctor. Since he softened his tone, Wu Yuekai didn’t trouble him too much.

”Although I have some doubt about what you’re saying, since you say so, I’ll go to the military department to look for you.” Wu Yuekai said.

Du Kai Bo and Wei Zhongxun exchanged a glance. Wu Yuekai’s words were pleasing to the ear, but they weren’t naive students who didn’t understand worldly affairs; they immediately knew he was evasive.

If Wu Yuekai insisted on not knowing the mysterious Mystic Doctor, they couldn’t pry open his mouth. After all, he was the Military Advisor, and not just any Military Advisor. They couldn’t use force.

Du Kai Bo was mentally prepared before coming. Last time, when Wu Yuekai was in a coma, he could plead ignorance. This time, he was clearly playing dumb.

Du Kai Bo and Wei Zhongxun left without success and had to think of another way.

At the Tian Family home.

Tian Heming and Dong Fengzhen were still unable to recover, looking at the gently smiling woman in front of them, they were left dazed.

”Dad! Dad!” Tian Qinghui tried to suppress the overwhelming joy in his heart, wanting to quickly wake Tian Heming up.

Whenever he thought that the mysterious Mystic Doctor was his niece, his blood boiled, his heart raced, and he couldn’t even stand still, constantly pacing.

Tian Qinghui called a couple more times before Tian Heming came back to his senses, his eyes widening, ”Beibei... is it really you?”

Beisitian couldn’t help but nod. She had only sneaked in to take a look, but it seemed to have stirred up quite a storm.

Tian Heming could hardly believe it and hesitated briefly before asking in a low voice, ”Beibei, are you... are you the Mystic Doctor?”

With a faint smile, Beisitian nodded in acknowledgment. She originally planned to tell Tian Heming because only by letting them know her skills could she stay close to learn about General Zhou’s situation and treat him.

However, she also worried that admitting to being the Mystic Doctor might be hard for others to believe, given her age. The Spiritual Talisman isn’t allowed to be shown to the uninitiated; how could she prove herself?

It turned out to be resolved so easily. Her decision to go there was indeed the right one.

Perhaps it was because Beisitian’s admission was so matter-of-fact, or because everything was going too smoothly, Tian Qinghui, too, found it hard to believe and grew increasingly incredulous.

”Uncle, the effects of the talismanic water are likely wearing off. Give this bottle of talismanic water to General Zhou to drink, and it should sustain him for a few more days.” Beisitian handed over a small jar to Tian Qinghui.

Tian Qinghui took the small jar, both hands trembling. Although he hadn’t seen the footage, he knew from Dean Du and Dean Mei’s descriptions that it was this small jar of talismanic water Beisitian had given to General Zhou, and only then did his heart rate approach normal.

”How should I make him drink it?” Tian Qinghui, holding the jar, was still at a loss. He couldn’t inject it, right?

With a gentle smile, Beisitian said, ”I’ll teach Uncle a little technique. You can try it when the time comes, but it’s best to practice first, or it might hurt the patient’s throat.”
