I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 367: Chapter 366: Unknown

Tian Heming had heard that only Mystic Doctors could discern the differences in talismanic water, detect the herbs and efficacy within it. Many could roughly tell by merely tasting it, much like how old Chinese doctors could identify the main ingredients in traditional medicines.

They are now full of hope for Tian Zhi.

When Tian Zhi heard his grandfather ask this, he shook his head. Many at the dining table earlier believed it was clear water. Judging by the looks of it, Grandfather should know what this water-like medicine is, which is why he’s so angry. His anger is not towards his cousin but towards Lei Yehong and her daughter.

Tian Zhi immediately thought of this.

”Grandfather, I’ve never seen such medicine. What exactly is it?” Tian Zhi asked.

Tian Heming smiled; he had always been quite satisfied with this grandson, especially his attitude and understanding of Chinese medicine.

When he heard Tian Zhi ask this, he didn’t answer immediately but instead looked at Beisitian.

Tian Zhi then realized it might be up to this pretty cousin to explain.

”Cousin, what is this medicine?” Tian Zhi politely asked again.

With a gentle smile, Beisitian said, ”This is talismanic water.”

Talismanic water?

Tian Zhi’s face was full of confusion. What is this thing? He had never heard of it.

Talismanic water is indeed hard to explain, and Beisitian didn’t plan to elaborate, instead directing the conversation elsewhere.

”Can I call you Xiao Zhi?” Beisitian smiled.

Tian Zhi nodded; everyone called him that. But facing Beisitian, he felt like he wasn’t dealing with a cousin but more like an elder. He couldn’t figure out why he had this feeling.

”Are you studying at the Chinese Medicine Academy, Xiao Zhi?” Beisitian asked.

Tian Zhi glanced at Tian Heming and the others, seeing they were just listening, and nodded, saying, ”Yes, I’m in my third year.”

Beisitian asked Tian Qinghui for pen and paper, wrote down a prescription, and handed it to Tian Zhi, asking, ”Can you understand this prescription?”

Tian Zhi took it and glanced at it, and after a few looks, his expression changed. He knew Beisitian also studied Chinese medicine but didn’t expect she could casually write such a prescription.

It seemed to be for treating asthma. Tian Zhi had seen similar treatments for asthma before, but this prescription was considerably different. The usage of several medicinal herbs was extremely clever, making it potentially more effective than ordinary prescriptions!

”I’ve always heard cousin studied Chinese medicine, but I didn’t expect you to be so skilled in it!” Tian Zhi sincerely complimented.

If he were to write this prescription, he wouldn’t even think of adding these few herbs, and even if he did, he wouldn’t know the right quantity to add.

Seeing Beisitian and Tian Zhi beginning to discuss medical prescriptions, Tian Heming and the others grew anxious but didn’t dare to interrupt since they weren’t sure what Beisitian was thinking.

Beisitian then wrote several more prescriptions, all of which Tian Zhi understood, though he couldn’t write them out himself.

Beisitian drew a few esoteric herbs, which Tian Zhi recognized instantly, indicating his solid foundational knowledge.

After chatting with Tian Zhi for a while, Beisitian laughed.

Tian Heming sipped his tea, appearing to savor it, though his mind was elsewhere.

Tian Qinghui couldn’t drink at all, staring directly at them, sincerely hoping Beisitian would say what they wanted to hear.

If the Tian Family could produce a Mystic Doctor...

The thought alone was thrilling!

As the atmosphere in the North House grew tense, the fifth son, Tian Qingyao, returned.

Tian Qingyao went directly to the dining area, finding everyone had already dispersed. He wondered why everyone had left so early today!

”Sister-in-law, you ate so quickly today, I thought I’d catch the tail end to have a bite!” Tian Qingyao said cheerfully.

Gao Ya shook her head and sighed. As a sister-in-law, she naturally couldn’t speak ill of her sisters-in-law, so she simply said, ”There was a little unhappiness, Dad and Mom were tired, so the meal ended early. You’re just in time, though; there’s still some food in the kitchen. You should fill yourself up.”

Zhou Biwu’s matters were confidential, usually not asked about.

Tian Qingyao chuckled, not feeling hungry.

”Jia Min and Haohao are in the East Wing,” Gao Ya reminded him.

Tian Qingyao nodded swiftly, having not seen his wife and child for days, and went quickly to the East Wing.

Arriving at the East Wing, he found Shao Jia Min playing clap games with Tian Hao. Their laughter felt warm and cozy.

Upon hearing movement, Shao Jia Min looked up and was delighted to see her husband back, surprised since she hadn’t seen him for several days.

”Why’re you back now, hungry?” Shao Jia Min greeted, holding the child’s hand.

”Not hungry, not hungry, my good wife, I’ve missed you.”

With no one else present, Tian Qingyao hugged Shao Jia Min, causing her face to blush with a smile and gleam of joy in her eyes.

”Daddy!” Tian Hao broke free of Shao Jia Min’s hand and reached out towards Tian Qingyao with two small arms.

Shao Jia Min tapped Tian Hao’s forehead, ”You little wretch, spend half the day playing with you and you forget about your mom when you see your dad!”

Tian Hao giggled, happiest with both parents around.

The couple chatted for a while before Shao Jia Min mentioned, ”You must be back for something, Dad and Mom are in the North House. Today, Fourth Sister-in-law and Yingying really upset them.”

Tian Qingyao asked what happened, and Shao Jia Min briefly recounted, emphasizing Beisitian’s gift.

”You say the niece gave clear water?” Tian Qingyao replied with a question.

”Yes, though I don’t quite understand, but seeing the old folks’ expressions suggests they think differently,” Shao Jia Min said.

Tian Qingyao nodded, ”I’ll check the North House and if time allows, I’ll take you both back.”

Shao Jia Min nodded, delighted.

Tian Qingyao left his child and headed to the North House. With cold weather, doors were tightly shut; he lightly knocked twice and then entered.

He lifted the thick curtain and immediately spotted his eldest son, Tian Zhi, who made him smile, then called out to his parents and elder brother.

Greeting everyone, he then shifted his gaze to Beisitian. He knew the niece would be there but was meeting her for the first time, having missed dinner before due to General Zhou’s matters.

”This should be Beibei then...” Seeing Beisitian clearly, his words caught in his throat, his eyes suddenly widened, gazing at Beisitian, unable to speak for a long time.

After a while, he stammered, ”You, you are that... Mystic Doctor!”

How could this be? Shouldn’t the person sitting here be the niece who stirred up trouble upon arriving? How did she become the sought-after, mysterious Mystic Doctor!
