I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 359: Chapter 358: Offending the Old Lady

Lei Yehong might have some reservations about Tian Qiu, but when it comes to Beisitian, she has absolutely no qualms. She’s not even a part of the Tian family, the old man pretends to show importance, but in reality, he doesn’t care at all. There’s no reason for Lei Yehong to be courteous.

”Your name is Beisitian, right? Remember this, your surname is Bei, not Tian. The ground you’re standing on belongs to the Tian family. Now that you’ve come here, you’d better behave yourself and not speak harsh words at such a young age. I’m your aunt by marriage, and if I decide to discipline you, no one can say anything about it!”

Lei Yehong squinted at Beisitian, assuming the air of a senior, but without a shred of dignity.

Su Lan listened from the side, frowning. How could she have imagined that Beisitian would clash with Lei Yehong the moment she returned? This was a tough situation. Over the years, her father-in-law and mother-in-law always felt guilty towards the fourth son and his wife, so they tolerated Lei Yehong’s temper, leading her to think the in-laws owed her, and her arrogance grew unchecked.

Before Su Lan could speak, Tian Qiu laughed coldly, ”Neither my grandparents nor my fourth uncle has talked about disciplining Beibei, so why are you, an aunt by marriage, getting involved? Are you the most important person in the Tian family?”

The warmth faded from Beisitian’s smile; it was the first time someone had told her to be subdued.

”I’m indeed standing on Tian family land, but it’s just Tian family land, it belongs to my maternal grandparents, not to my fourth aunt by marriage.”

Lei Yehong, insulted and mocked by these two girls, grew so angry that her breath became uneven, almost wanting to slap Beisitian. But she knew that if she resorted to violence, she would lose all justification.

Outside, Tian Lei, having heard most of the situation and sensing trouble, hurried to find reinforcements. He knew his fourth aunt was becoming increasingly unreasonable. He also knew that Beibei never instigated trouble unless others provoked her.

Tian Lei generally avoided provoking Lei Yehong. She spoke nothing like a senior, always having sarcastic remarks for anyone she didn’t like. In this household, aside from the grandparents and his elder brother, she dared to speak her mind. There was also Tian Ying, her daughter, just like her mother, as if they were carved from the same mold.

Even with such behavior, she still wanted the grandparents’ favoritism. She was always jealous of her second sister, which was annoying to watch.

Tian Lei jogged to the back courtyard. Beibei had come from Anding City to Beijing to visit the grandparents and couldn’t be bullied here in the Tian family.

In the living room, Su Lan, hearing that the three were about to argue, hurriedly interjected, ”Yehong, say less. Why are you, an adult, quarreling with two children?”

Immediately, Lei Yehong turned her attention to Su Lan, ”What, it’s my fault now? Listen to what these two damn girls are saying. If I just grin and bear it, won’t I seem like I’m easy to bully!”

A vein popped on Su Lan’s forehead. This person really knew how to turn the tables. If she hadn’t said those things, would the two youngsters be upset? Even she herself felt uncomfortable hearing it.

”Who’s bullying you?” Dong Fengzhen’s voice came from behind, and soon she appeared, followed by Tian Lei.

Tian Lei made faces at his mother, and seeing this, Su Lan breathed a sigh of relief. With the old lady here, there won’t be any fight.

Seeing Dong Fengzhen, Lei Yehong immediately put on a sullen face, ”Mom, you have to handle Xiaoqiu. Look at what she said, accusing my Xiaoying of messing around, and as her sister saying such things, it makes me uncomfortable and shows that these sisters aren’t getting along, making a laughing stock for outsiders.”

In the past, when she complained like this, Dong Fengzhen would always reprimand Tian Qiu a couple of times, whether genuine or not, at least giving face to her.

In the past, Tian Qiu would just keep silent at such times. She knew the history and knew her grandmother always felt guilty towards Lei Yehong, so she let it slide. It wouldn’t hurt her, and her grandmother would make it up to her later.

But today, she didn’t plan to remain silent and snorted coldly, ”Fourth aunt has a poor memory. What did she just say? Ordered Beibei to be timid in the Tian family and even wanted to exercise her aunt’s rights to discipline her. What a loving elder you are~”

Tian Qiu couldn’t help but mock again.

Beisitian sighed softly, ”Fourth aunt’s discipline is indeed right. After all, this is not my home, and my mother left early, so I really shouldn’t talk much in the Tian family, not to mention what fourth aunt said is true. I am Bei, not Tian.”

Dong Fengzhen frowned deeply and looked at Lei Yehong, saying, ”Are these things you said?”

”Mom, this child Sitiang indeed needs discipline. Listen to the barbed words she says, all insinuations. I’m disciplining her on Mei Jun’s behalf!” Lei Yehong felt justified.

Hearing her mention Mei Jun, Su Lan knew things wouldn’t end well today. Even if the old lady felt guilty towards her, could her status surpass that of her daughter?

What’s more, Tian Meijun was a pain in the old lady’s heart. Bringing it up like this would only provoke her.

Sure enough, Dong Fengzhen’s face suddenly darkened upon hearing this, ”You’re disciplining Beibei on Mei Jun’s behalf? Yehong, as people live their lives, they should move forward, not backward. Don’t be quick to manage other people’s children; take care of your own first. Look at what Xiaoying has become under your pampering—does she even have an ounce of lady-like demeanor left?”

Lei Yehong was stunned, staring at Dong Fengzhen. It had been a long time since her mother-in-law openly reprimanded her, especially in front of her sister-in-law Su Lan. This was unbelievable and left her feeling humiliated.

Moreover, if Dong Fengzhen normally remained silent, she spoke harshly once she did. How could she assert her authority before the younger generation in the future!

With age, Dong Fengzhen had broadened her mindset and was seldom angry at home, but today, Lei Yehong had provoked her wrath.

Seeing Dong Fengzhen angry, Lei Yehong dared not say more. No matter how justified she felt, she did not dare to speak further at this moment.

Though she couldn’t resent Dong Fengzhen, she started to resent Beisitian and Tian Qiu.

”Alright, since it’s nothing serious today, Yehong, go back and take care of Xiaoying.” Thinking of her deceased daughter, Dong Fengzhen became quite upset.

Lei Yehong widened her eyes, opening her mouth, shocked that her mother-in-law had chased her away in front of so many people.

”Mom...” Lei Yehong felt something needed to be salvaged and instinctively wanted to bring up past events to evoke the old lady’s guilt. But Dong Fengzhen impatiently waved her off, turning to head back to the courtyard.

”All of you, come over here.” Dong Fengzhen said without looking back.

Everyone, except for Lei Yehong, including Su Lan, followed her to the back.

Beisitian gave Lei Yehong a light glance. Arrogance is cultivated, and she herself was not of a nature to be taken advantage of. How could she possibly suffer under the censure of a so-called aunt by marriage?
