I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 377: Chapter 376: Throwing White Silk

Beisitian didn’t know why he suddenly brought this up, but she nodded and said yes.

”You said I look a lot like him?” Wu Yuekai saw Beisitian nod and asked again, ”How similar?”

”Exactly the same, in terms of appearance.” Beisitian said without hesitation.

Wu Yuekai remained silent, there were still people in the world who looked exactly the same, ”What was his name, and how did he pass away?”

Beisitian tilted her head and looked at Wu Yuekai, not understanding why he suddenly asked these questions, but still said, ”He passed away of old age and in peace, it’s been a long time, so it’s better not to mention his name.”

She didn’t want to say more, and Wu Yuekai didn’t force her, but he could hear that she was very protective of this mentor, which made him feel slightly bitter.

”Did you always stay with your mentor before?” Wu Yuekai didn’t know why he asked this, even though he already knew Beisitian’s past for the last twenty years, where there was no mention of a mentor.

Beisitian remained silent, looked at Wu Yuekai and nodded, ”Yes, my mentor was the closest person to me.”

Wu Yuekai was stunned by the light in Beisitian’s eyes. He felt a bit of bitterness in his heart from her words moments ago, but hearing the words ’closest person’, a sudden warmth flowed through him.

The things in the dream were too absurd and bizarre, and although Wu Yuekai had thought of talking about them with Beisitian several times before, he never knew how to start, but now he suddenly felt there was no need to mention them anymore.

”Let’s eat quickly. After eating, let Xiao Wu take you back.” Wu Yuekai’s face revealed a smile, and his gaze towards Beisitian was full of affection.

Beisitian didn’t know what was up with the old man today, as her mind was elsewhere, still thinking about the matters regarding Zhou Biwu, so she didn’t think much of Wu Yuekai’s odd behavior.

After the meal, Wu Yuekai’s driver, Master Wu, took her back.

Beisitian barred the main door and then the house door before returning to the bedroom, and just as she entered, the phone rang.

Upon picking it up, it turned out to be Luo Xudong.

”Haven’t you been at home?” Luo Xudong asked. He had called several times, but no one answered.

”Yeah, I went to the retirement home in the afternoon and to the old man’s place in the evening.” Beisitian didn’t mention the Mystic Doctor matters to Luo Xudong to avoid making him worry.

”When are you coming back?” Luo Xudong asked.

”I don’t know yet, what’s up?” Beisitian asked, wondering if something was up.

”Nothing, I just miss you.” Luo Xudong’s deep voice came through the receiver, bringing an involuntary smile to her lips.

”I’m not used to sleeping alone.” Luo Xudong said.

Hearing this big man speaking with a lazy, coquettish tone made Beisitian laugh, ”Why don’t you hug Zhuangzhuang to sleep then?”

Luo Xudong: ”...”

Hearing her teasing, Luo Xudong was not to be outdone, ”Hugging Zhuangzhuang is definitely not as comfortable as hugging you.”

Beisitian lightly spat, laughed, and scolded him before quickly asking, ”Zhuangzhuang is eating well, right?”

”Eating very well, Sister-in-law Li and Comrade Li Mingrong go there every day to take care of Zhuangzhuang.” Luo Xudong thought of the military wives running over there enthusiastically every day and was not worried about Zhuangzhuang’s meals.

Beisitian recalled what the ”Tea Egg Aunt” said, thought about it, but didn’t bring it up, thinking it was somewhat baseless, that even if it were true, Luo Xudong couldn’t rush over from a thousand miles away for nothing, which would just be needless worry.

After chatting for a while, they hung up, and Beisitian thought for a moment before calling Zhou Quan, who quickly called back.

Beisitian knew Zhou Quan had always lived in Capital City, so she asked about the 25th.

”These are just random rumors by the citizens. We’ve staked out there before and haven’t heard any nonsense, sister-in-law, you don’t need to be afraid, I’ll just find two people to keep watch.” Zhou Quan said.

”No need, it’s just a rumor.” Beisitian declined Zhou Quan’s good intentions.

After hanging up the phone, Zhou Quan thought it over and still sent two smart brothers over. Sister-in-law wouldn’t stay in Beijing for long, and nothing could happen during this time.

As for haunted houses, he simply didn’t believe in them, the families that moved out before did so due to various reasons, nothing like the citizens’ rumors.

What concerned him was that someone with ulterior motives might make use of this situation, which wouldn’t be good.

Beisitian had similar thoughts, ghosts and monsters, even if they did exist, were not something she feared. She was someone who had crossed into the Otherworld; could local ghosts be more formidable than her?

Her concern was that someone might be pretending to be supernatural.

Seeing that it was only a bit past seven, and darkness was already falling, Beisitian took various talisman powders, walked around the yard several times, making arrangements in every corner, feeling a bit more at ease.

After setting up the yard, she also arranged the living room and the west room, lastly the bedroom, not missing a corner.

A woman living alone must be cautious.

After doing this, and checking the doors and windows one more time, Beisitian returned to the room to sleep.

Without Luo Xudong by her side, her sleep was lighter, and so she sensed when a shadow appeared in the yard in the middle of the night and immediately opened her eyes.

Moving quietly, she got up, lifted a corner of the curtain, and looked outside, only to see a woman in a white dress, hair loose, standing in the yard, throwing a rope up a tree.

Even though Beisitian was brave, this scene frightened her into a cold sweat.

How did this person get in, she clearly set two layers of talisman powder at the door, no matter if they climbed the wall or opened the main gate, they would touch her talisman powder, and whoever it was, if they were wearing clothes, the clothes would catch fire.

But at most it would cause some burns, not endanger life.

With hands and feet turning cold, Beisitian felt a little uneasy, but still made no sound, quietly watching the woman in white throw the white silk on the tree.

After two throws, the white silk finally hung on the tree, the woman in white climbed onto a stool, and then placed the white silk around her waist!

Seeing this, Beisitian was taken aback, it looked like the person wanted to hang themselves, but why wrap the white silk around the waist?

With suspicion in her heart, her fear slightly faded, and she continued watching as the woman in white tied the white silk and then kicked over the stool, making a bang, her head hanging down, from this angle, it looked like she was hanging.

At this moment, Beisitian had suspected this person was certainly not a ghost, definitely a human.

Still hiding behind the curtain, Beisitian watched the scene outside and didn’t turn on the light due to the noise. The woman in white swayed for a long time, seemingly realizing no one was coming, waited for quite some time, and finally unable to resist, untied the white silk from her waist, jumped down, repositioned the stool, and prepared to do it again.
