Why Would an Aircraft Carrier Be Dispatched to Escort His Fishing Boat?

92: Chapter 92 Pearl River Dad, Protecting YouAfter listening to Commander Tang Ze, Jiang Chen understood.

This meant he was supposed to pilot his small fishing boat to escort thirteen giant cargo ships!

Jiang Chen looked at his small fishing boat, which was only twenty-some meters long, and scratched his head.

”Commander Tang Ze, I am willing to provide the escort, but won’t those giant ships look down on me?”

Those giant ships were at least a hundred meters long, carrying massive amounts of cargo, and were towering and sturdy.

When he sailed alongside them, he had to crane his neck just to look up.

He was worried that his small fishing boat would face unfair discrimination!

”Look down on you?”

”Unlikely. You’ve got your own missiles, after all.”

Commander Tang Ze shook his head and said.

Those people at Deep Blue Ocean Group weren’t stupid; even if they hadn’t been hit by a missile, hadn’t they seen one launched before?

”Well, in that case, I have no problem with it.”

”When do we set off?”

Jiang Chen asked.

Although he had only been back for less than half a month, as long as there were cargo ships needing an escort, he was perfectly capable of handling the mission.

Furthermore.

He hadn’t yet had a chance to wander around Australia.

He could escort ships and catch fish at the same time.

”No rush. Their cargo ships are still at the port loading goods.”

”It will take at least three days.”

”Once the cargo is ready, I’ll let you know, and you can just come over.”

Commander Tang Ze patted Jiang Chen on the shoulder.

”Thank you for your hard work.”

Jiang Chen agreed immediately: ”It’s not hard work! I serve the people.”

After Jiang Chen left.

A staff officer walked up to Commander Tang Ze and said worriedly.

”Commander Tang Ze, using this small fishing boat isn’t a long-term solution.”

”There are many more cargo ships scheduled to set sail that need escorts...”

If it weren’t for the severe shortage of destroyers and cruisers, Commander Tang Ze wouldn’t have resorted to using a small fishing boat for escort duty.

Commander Tang Ze stood with his hands behind his back, looking out at the sea, and pondered.

”There’s no other way. The Dragon God aircraft carrier strike group is still in Antarctica executing a top-secret mission.”

”The Dragon Soul aircraft carrier strike group is in the Pacific Ocean.”

”And the Dragon Cry is in Somalia.”

”The fourth aircraft carrier still needs some time.”

The staff officer asked, somewhat puzzled: ”Commander-in-Chief, I understand the locations of the Dragon Soul and Dragon Cry, but why has the Dragon God been staying in Antarctica? What’s over there? It’s been nearly a year, and it hasn’t returned?”

Commander Tang Ze narrowed his eyes and said: ”The United States has three aircraft carriers circling around Antarctica; how could the Dragon God return easily?”

”There are massive benefits there, and no one is willing to withdraw.”

”Massive benefits?”

The chief of staff muttered to himself, not daring to ask further.

He didn’t know what massive discovery had been made in Antarctica.

However, he did know that the destroyers often caught strange, large fish.

Including Jiang Chen.

Although they had made major breakthroughs thanks to the Brain-like Mecha caught previously.

No one had yet figured out where this Brain-like Mecha came from.

...

Three days later.

Before leaving home, Jiang Chen greeted Xue Yao.

The girl was acting out of character.

She was actually putting a straw hat on him while urging him to leave.

”Darling, hurry and set sail. If you’re late, it’ll be too late. Hurry up and go!”

Jiang Chen looked at the blue and green straw hat and fell into deep thought.

This wasn’t right!

Before, you used to cling to me, saying you wanted to go out to sea together and do things we both loved.

Now that I’m heading out to sea, you’re actually rushing me?

”Because I’m going to look for a job, so I won’t bother you anymore.”

”Once I get the job, I’ll go out to sea with you again!”

Xue Yao saw Jiang Chen out of the house.

”Alright then!”

Jiang Chen muttered as he left home.

Xue Yao, watching from the balcony upstairs, saw Jiang Chen leave, then packed her bags and began heading to the Dragon Group for training!

”Last time it was theory, this time it should be practical training.”

”Sister Long Xi, I’m coming!”

Xue Yao’s face was flushed with excitement.

Just thinking about the future—wearing a commander’s uniform, piloting an aircraft carrier, and passing by Jiang Chen’s small fishing boat...

He would definitely be so shocked he’d fall into the sea, and just as he was about to be eaten by a big shark, she would descend from the sky, standing on the aircraft carrier... What a scene!

”Hiahiahia!”

Xue Yao laughed loudly and headed out.

Near the Zhujiang Port.

Thirteen giant cargo ships were preparing to set sail.

They were all cargo ships belonging to the Deep Blue Ocean Group, their decks stacked high with containers full of industrial goods.

They were preparing to transport them to Australia.

This batch of industrial goods was mainly intended to be exchanged with Australia for scarce mineral resources.

To ensure the transaction was completed successfully, two destroyers were required to escort them throughout the entire voyage.

However!

Zhujiang Port had been lacking warships recently.

Other ports didn’t have any spare warships to deploy either.

To ensure safety, the chairman of the Deep Blue Ocean Group had even personally met with Commander Tang Ze once.

Although Commander Tang Ze had agreed readily, the person in charge of this voyage for the Deep Blue Ocean Group, Zhang Dayong, was still a bit uneasy.

After all, he had heard about the shortage of escort warships at major ports.

The day finally came to set sail.

He waited for a long time on the first cargo ship.

He only saw one newly repaired Weilong Destroyer sailing out from the opposite military port.

”Captain Wei, wasn’t it agreed that there would be two destroyers? Why is there only one?”

Zhang Dayong picked up the radio and asked anxiously.

This trip to Australia involved certain changes to the route.

The possibility of encountering pirates on the way had increased significantly.

If there was only one destroyer, there was a possibility of being attacked from the rear.

After all, this fleet of cargo ships stretched for several nautical miles from front to back.

With only one, it would be impossible to cover both the front and the back.

Two were necessary, one at the front and one at the back.

Captain Wei replied to Zhang Dayong via radio: ”Don’t worry, Mr. Zhang, I have another... military warship behind me.”

”Another one?”

Zhang Dayong looked at the military port in confusion, wanting to see what other military warship there was.

A few minutes later.

Sure enough, another... military warship sailed out.

It was quite fast.

It was just... not very big!

”This is a fishing boat, right!”

”What the hell, I’m losing it!”

Zhang Dayong collapsed on the deck, almost passing out.

[Mr. Zhang, Mr. Zhang, what’s wrong? This is pearl river 888, ordered to provide escort for your Deep Blue Ocean Group.]

[Please acknowledge if received.]

Zhang Dayong climbed up. Watching pearl river 888 speed past, he couldn’t help but sing a song of gratitude: [Listen to me, thank you, Pearl River Dad...]

”Don’t mention it, don’t mention it!”

”You are too kind.”

Jiang Chen waved his hand.

With another Pan Zhoudan-style drift, he drove to the very front of the cargo ships and joined up with the Weilong Destroyer.

On the deck, Zhang Dayong watched the speed of the small fishing boat and couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.

”The speed is quite fast, and it has its own mortars, but I wonder if this kid will run away first if we really encounter pirates?”

”Mr. Zhang, why is there a hole in the back of this fishing boat? It’s pitch black and looks so strange.”

A sailor nearby asked in confusion.

”It must be the drainage system.”

Seeing his subordinate looking skeptical, Zhang Dayong rolled his eyes at him, ”What? Do you think that’s a missile silo? Go wash up and go to sleep! Hurry up and set sail!”
