Reborn as an Extra

Chapter 694: I have waited... for a thousand years...

Hearing Ashtel’s open challenge, the Demon King went silent for a moment before he spoke again.

”Has anyone ever told you before... that you are a very irritating person, Ashtel Rex?”

Ashtel nodded his head at that question while the smile on his face widened.

”The only people who have dared to call me irritating and an obstacle were all my enemies... In fact, Neo Aldif used to call me irritating all the time...”

”After all... I have always liked to be the biggest factor of failure in most of his plans...”

”The same is true for all the other enemies that now lie seven feet under the ground after calling me irritating and living beneath my shadow...”

Ashtel pointed his finger at the shadowy figure waving in the air as he spoke.

”You are just one of the many who find their plans thwarted due to my existence... this is nothing new to me...”

”As long as I am here, you will not get to Rio... so quit dreaming and leave before I rush over to your side!”

Ashtel wasn’t even joking; as long as the demon king dared take a step forward, he was ready to go all out instantly.

In fact, Ashtel would have already attacked the other party the very moment he sensed the familiar presence of the demon king if not for the fact that he was still guarding Rio and the others from the heavenly punishment.

The heavenly tribulation was about to rain down soon, and it was not a good moment for him to leave and rush straight into the demon race’s territory right now.

That would only make Rio and the others defenseless against the heavenly thunder.

If not for this restriction, he would have had to resort to negotiation at the moment.

”You have become weaker... Ashtel Rex...”

Hearing the mocking tone of the demon king, Ashtel also replied in the same mocking voice,

”And you have become smaller... Nebo Dahaka, you used to be more straightforward than this hesitant self of yours...”

”You have lost your confidence...”

For a moment both of them went silent, and only the loud roars of the heavenly thunder kept ringing loudly in the background as the two of them stared at each other, with both refusing to retreat a single inch.

After a full minute of silent confrontation, the demon king finally broke the silence as he looked at the thunder clouds.

”You are not understanding it yet Ashtel Rex... but I do not blame you... maybe a day would come when you would also understand it...”

”You would understand it too...”

”I was planning to meet him much later than this... but by invoking the power of the entire world into a single person today... you all have changed many things.”

”I would have to meet him... earlier than I expected...”

Ashtel frowned at that cryptic way of talking and spoke,

”Don’t bulsh*t in front of me! I don’t care what you think about and what you don’t!”

”It’s not like I can believe a demon like you anyway...”

It’s not like there were no creatures in the past that decided to trust the demon race.

Astra, the greatest and kindest person in the world, who was famously considered a saint-like entity, was also once kind enough to try to help the demon race.

But even she had no choice but to give up on them as she saw their cruel and violence-filled nature.

Demons are cancer to the universe; they can’t be salvaged and can never be considered the same as ordinary creatures.

Believing them is like wrapping a poisonous and violent snake on your own neck, you can never be sure if it will bite you out of nowhere and kill you on the spot.

”Your resistance is futile... you are trying to stop something that is bound to happen...”

”I was not sure if I would get to meet him before... but after coming here, now I am more certain...”

”I am certain I will meet him... you are just being stubborn...”

Just when Ashtel was about to retort again, a massive bolt of heavenly thunder came rushing down at an insanely fast speed and fell straight on the demon king’s vessel.

Before getting hit by the powerful beam of thunder, the demon king’s shadow stared in the direction of the underground lab hidden by Ashtel’s power as he muttered.

”We will meet soon... I have waited for you... for a thousand years...”

*BOOOOM!!!!*

The beam of heavenly thunder hit the demon king’s vessel and completely evaporated it out of existence instantly!

Seeing this situation, Ashtel frowned deeply.

”He came here just to say some random bulsh*t like that?... He wasn’t like this the last time I met him...”

”Did losing his son change him somehow? But that shouldn’t be the case, right?... After all, demons don’t have any deep feelings for their kin...”

”Well, at least I managed to confirm that this so-called ’Raika’ person is likely not directly related to the demon king as his powers still seem the same as before...”

Although the shadowy vessel was not giving off any soul or aura fluctuations, its miasmic corruption was enough to tell Ashtel all he needed to know.

It was clear that Raika was likely the creation of some third-party who even Ashtel himself was unaware of.

’I will need to check the world alliance’s records for clues... my intuition is telling me that something is definitely brewing in the dark...’

’As for Rio... I would need to give him a teleportation scroll so that he can retreat safely even when stuck in difficult situations...’

Ashtel shook his head, stopped worrying about the matter of the future for the time being, and focused his mind on the current issue.

He immediately scanned the area for any remnant effects left by the demon king’s miasma and then activated his world authority to take care of the heavenly tribulation!

[World Authority: Shockwave!]

[Sage Art: Shattered Gap: Cosmic Null!]

Using his world authority to simulate a powerful cosmic shockwave in the very fabric of reality, Ashtel shattered the space-time like it was fragile glass and made a massive shattered gap in the area above the underground lab.

From there on, all heavenly thunder fell into that void gap and became null!

For the current Ashtel Rex with a level 7 world authority, tanking this weaker heavenly thunder was just a piece of cake!
