Reborn as an Extra

Chapter 685: Operation ’Hydra’. Part-3.

The trio walked through the corridors of the facility without speaking a word to each other for a long while.

It took Link a lot of courage to finally utter something.

”You have her body?”

At Link’s question, Rio hesitated but then decided to speak.

”I do...”

With that said, Rio removed the camouflage that was hiding the coffin.

As the camouflage came undone, Lia felt shocked that despite the fact that the coffin and those soul containers were floating right behind her, she couldn’t sense their presence.

Even her absolute precognition couldn’t notice them, and only when Rio revealed them did she finally manage to see the strings of destinies attached to those containers.

Lia didn’t know, but when Rio came to rescue her, he was in a hurry and thus couldn’t find any proper place to put the containers down.

Thus, he had them all floating beside him all along until now, and nobody even noticed it as Rio’s concealment interfered with others’ perceptions.

”I see...”

Link clenched his fist after seeing the coffin containing Ellie’s body, gritted his teeth, and went silent as he continued leading the way.

After a short walk, the group reached a big meeting room where several sofas and chairs were placed.

Ashtel Rex, Raji, Riya, everyone was there but everyone had a solemn expression on their face, and after seeing the coffin floating behind Rio as he entered the room, the mood became even more depressed.

Rio placed the coffin on the temporary platform made through Raji’s frost magic along with the two soul containers.

Then he looked at Ashtel and spoke.

”I am deeply sorry... I managed to complete the mission of saving Liam’s soul and bringing it back from the spirit realm but... Ellie didn’t make it...”

”We decided to use ’that’ method to save Liam’s life back then... and I think that same method will also work on Ellie so I made sure to bring her soul and body back too...”

Hearing Rio’s words, Ashtel took a deep sigh of regret and spoke in a calm tone.

”Tell us... everything from the beginning...”

At Ashtel’s question, everyone in the room sat down straight as they all focused their full attention on Rio.

They all knew that Rio was not an ordinary S-ranker, and he was currently the strongest S-ranker of their nation.

Moreover, Rio has never failed a single mission until now.

The situation of Ellie was simply too difficult to comprehend.

Although the spirit realm was indeed a dangerous place, Rio was not weak, and everyone knew it.

Thus, it was quite surprising that despite Rio being there, Ellie ended up dead! Everyone could already sense that there was definitely something fishy about this.

Even Lia found the matter surprising, let alone others.

They simply had too much faith in Rio and were eager to know what could have gone wrong.

Seeing that it was pointless to hide the matter of Raika and his weird schemes, Rio had no other choice but to tell the entire story.

It was impossible to hide the cause of Ellie’s death, as everyone would doubt Rio’s credibility if he tried to hide it, so he had no choice but to tell the story in detail!

”When I entered the Spirit Realm, I met this mysterious fellow who called him ’Raika, The Master of the Holy Lyre’...”

...

It took Rio several hours to tell the entire story of his epic adventure inside the Spirit realm.

Not only did Rio tell them about Raika and the weird organisms of the spirit realm, but he also informed Ashtel about the matter of the seal on the door leading to the sea of endless miasma breaking.

Hearing this information, even Ashtel’s face became filled with worry and shock.

Raji rubbed her temples as she felt a headache coming; Link sat on the ground helpless; Lia clenched her fists as she felt worried for Rio, and Riya stared at the coffin in depression.

Although Rio told almost everything, he didn’t tell them all about his own strength increase and various weird powers he had gained.

He only told them that after traveling inside that dangerous place and fighting a life-and-death battle with Raika, he managed to become stronger, but how much, he didn’t say.

His soul manipulation, his memory manipulation, his ability to recharge himself by devouring others’ souls, his mana crystal creation ability, etc.

Rio didn’t reveal a single one of them and only revealed things that were important to the current topic.

It wasn’t that Rio was trying to pretend to be weak on purpose; it’s just that the type of powers he had were simply too disturbing and were prone to attracting misunderstandings.

No sane person would trust you completely if they know that you have abilities that can be used to do mind control, brainwashing, soul modification, etc.

And before reaching rank SS, Rio didn’t want to attract too much attention; it was a critical time right now, and he wasn’t too far from rank SS anymore, so it was better to keep some trump cards hidden for now.

”This fellow calling himself ’Raika’... he feels familiar for some reason...”

Ashtel, who had been silent the entire time, finally opened his mouth as he spoke with a frown on his face.

”I will have to investigate the secret records... Do you have any clue why he wants you to be a ’hero’?”

Rio shook his head at that question.

”Aside from the fact that I can control miasma and corruption... anything else doesn’t seem like the reason...”

Ashtel nodded his head at that answer and spoke,

”About that seal... I will have to inform the world alliance... there will be a small meeting soon; I will mention this matter there in person...”

”As for Liam and Ellie... we will follow the plan we made before... let’s initiate operation ’Hydra’... if it works on Liam, it should also work on Ellie too...”

”Moreover, we even have Lia’s destiny influencing power now... our chances of success will increase tremendously...”

Rio also nodded his head at those words.
