Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 989: Cooperation

”What are you doing? Unhand me! Do you want to die?!” Lavinster shouted, glaring at Barnes.

”Iʼm merely executing the command of my superior,” replied Barnes. ”Iʼm sure that the vice commander has his reason for giving me this command.”

”Whatʼs the reason? I didnʼt say anything wrong!”

Barnes shook his head. ”Itʼs not about your words. Itʼs about the person you talked to.”

”Who? Theyʼre nothing in front of my Kron family.”

Barnes sighed before lowering his head. ”In any case, I will have to return to the meeting. Please stay here for a while.”

”You…” Lavinster gritted his teeth and banged the door, but Barnes calmly exited the room.

Meanwhile, the meeting room was filled with awkward silence.

All the people knew that the reason Rood chose to stop Lavinster was not because of Albert, but because of Selena.

Selenaʼs teacher was also a world class summoner. More importantly, his ability was related to a curse. If he just put a curse on the duke, it would have been a catastrophe.

Leyfon could simply hide and let the curse eat him away. In addition, Selena was Nathanʼs wife.

Nathan might be generous, but he was definitely a person who had a bottom line. In fact, Nathan didnʼt have to make any move.

If he wanted, he could simply ask Rudeus, who was heavily indebted to him, to deal with this kid. Or if he wanted to mess with the Liaystian Kingdom, he simply stopped providing them with the cloud-repelling devices and magic weapons. Both of them were extremely important for the Liaystian Kingdom currently, so it was better to provoke Duke Kron rather than Nathan.

”My apologies. Since everything has been taken care of, shall we continue?” Rood asked.

Albert glanced at Selena, who nodded her head. Then, Albert stepped forth and explained, ”Iʼm sure that you have been aware of this matter to a certain degree, since this information has been shared directly with the royal family of the Liaystian Kingdom.

”A few months ago, the Frexia Academy, the Azilia royal family, and the Holy Kingdom formally declared war against the Divine Hand Organization.

”Lady Selena will explain everything about the organization, but allow me to start with the aliens first.

”The Divine Hand Organization has developed a method to put an alien inside one body.

”When the barrier that contains this alien disappears, the alien will wake up and take over the personʼs body.”

”This is quite surprising. No one has ever seen an alien taking over a humanʼs body. After all, donʼt all aliens have their own bodies?” Rood asked.

Albert shook his head. ”It might be linked to whatʼs happening right now, but not long ago, our kingdom discovered another species of alien that can take over oneʼs mind.

”Iʼm sure that this alien is similar to that species to a certain degree.”

”What?” Rood looked shocked.

”We classify this alien as a new species. Their cycle is pretty simple. Once they wake up, they will devour the host and control them. Their strength will depend on the host.

”For example, if they aim for normal people, their strength will be lowered to a certain degree.”

”Is that the reason for the organization to target the young summoners in the academy?” Rood asked, understanding where the conversation was going.

”Indeed.” Albert confirmed it with a nod. ”There are two ways of solving this problem. After using many resources and with the efforts of our scientists, weʼve created a medicine that can dissolve the barrier along with the alien altogether.

”However, once the alien is out and alive, there is no other way to eliminate them. The only thing we can do is to kill them.”

”!!!” Rood looked surprised. ”A medicine?”

”Yes.” Albert paused for a moment. ”The medicine has been distributed carefully and targets all the students all around the world, no matter if you are from the Azilia Kingdom, the Liaystian Kingdom, or even the Beast Kingdom.”

”Even the Beast Kingdom?”

”Yes. Theyʼre not targeting a single country. Theyʼre targeting the whole world.”

”As for this medicine…” Rood crossed his arms.

Albert smiled. ”Weʼll give you enough medicine for all the students in the kingdom. Weʼve figured out the symptoms as well, so if there are other people who experience it, weʼll provide the medicine to them.

”However, summoners are our priority because they will be a better host for the aliens.

”And there shouldnʼt be a lot of seeds, so weʼve brought at least 2,000 of them to deal with the problem.”

”It doesnʼt look like the Azilia Kingdom is planning to take a loss, right?” Rood squinted his eyes.

Albert raised two fingers. ”We only have two demands. We donʼt mind if youʼre going to take the credit for it, but we hope you can spare no effort in eradicating the threats.”

”Thatʼs easy. I donʼt think you will even give us the credit.” Rood looked a bit suspicious, wondering what Albert was planning by giving the credit.

”Both of us donʼt want to be wary of the threat on our back when fighting the aliens in the front line.” Albert shook his head.

It was true. If they had to worry about the Divine Hand, it would be bad for both their kingdoms.

Rood nodded in agreement. ”Fair enough.”

”The second condition is to have the Liaystian Kingdom for the cost of the medicine. Thatʼs all.”

”The cost of the medicine?”

”Yes. At this number.” Albert wrote down a number on a paper.

”!!!” Rood looked surprised. The number was actually quite small, to the point where it looked suspicious.

Albert said, ”You donʼt have to suspect us of having ulterior motives. The Liaystian Kingdom might be the one getting attacked this time, but it doesnʼt mean the threat is completely focused on this kingdom. As long as you are willing to share the burden, weʼre willing to give this much.

”Of course, if you donʼt mind, we do have one extra condition. Weʼd like to get involved directly with this problem. Lady Selena here has led her team to help you against the terrorists.”

Rood thought for a moment. Selena was an important person, but each person in her team had a status equal to or higher than hers. In other words, their condition was similar to Lavinster, who came here for experience.

It wasnʼt that big of a deal for Rood, so he agreed. ”On behalf of the kingdom, I shall accept your proposal.”
