Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 978: Two Names

”That depends on what kind of familiar do you want? How about telling me about your criteria?”

Noelle looked down, pondering. ”To be honest, I havenʼt thought that much. Right now, I have only realized that Iʼm lacking. I might be strong, but itʼs not enough.

”After seeing my familiars, Duke Murmur is good at fighting in multiple ways. It can be said that his strength is in his versatility. Meanwhile, War Horseman is extremely powerful in fighting an army.

”However, during our fight against the warrior class mutant, I end up working together with Murmur to take down a warrior class alien.

”If I think about it, this is what Iʼm currently lacking.”

”…” Nathan fell silent for a moment. Alavenya was more of an all-rounder for a vanguard, but Noelle focused on the sharpness of her sword. In other words, she boasted about her combat ability, as she could pierce through no matter how many enemies were in her way.

That was why Noelle struggled whenever they fought against numerous enemies. The question was whether Nathan should give her something that could stabilize her power or just sharpen her sword even further.

Noelle had been following in her grandfatherʼs footsteps. While it was a wrong path, it wasnʼt entirely wrong.

Duke Sullivan had the sharpest sword in the entire world. And Noelle wasnʼt a general of the army, unlike her grandfather.

After listening to her, Nathan closed his eyes for a moment and raised two fingers. ”I can think of two names. The first one is slightly vague since Fenrir only mentioned him a bit, while the other one is from Mae.”

”Hmm? May I know both of them?”

”Sure.” Nathan nodded. ”Letʼs start with the first one. He is called Thanatos, the personification of death.”

”!!!” Noelle was quite confused, because what she needed was a swordsman, not something related to death.

Nathan waved his hand as if noticing her confusion. ”Thanatos, while being known as the personification of death, is often depicted as someone who is holding a sword.

”He is well-known for calm death instead of violent death.”

”Ah!” Noelle finally understood what he was talking about. If it was the latter, it meant Thanatos was similar to the war horseman. It might pose a strong power, but because the information was a bit vague, she didnʼt know what kind of ʼwarʼ he would bring here.

Meanwhile, peaceful and non-violent passing could mean a lot of things, especially for such a powerful god.

It could be like what most people believed, where one life was gone during the sleep. However, it could also mean something else, especially for the nobles.

They were more than aware of poison and other things. Sometimes, people drank poison so that they would die without feeling any pain.

However, for summoners, the calm death could also be an absolute strength. His strength was so absolute that the person didnʼt realize they were dead. The fact he was depicted as having a sword could also mean it was a sword that cut away the soul.

He might also be a powerful swordsman who used that absolute power to defeat anyone in an instant.

It was because of the vague information that Thanatos could become a viable option. Nathan also knew that Thanatos was the son of Nyx and Erebus.

Noelle nodded carefully. ”How about the second option?”

”Susanoo, also known as Susanoo-no-Mikoto. He is a deity that is associated with the sea, wind, fields, and harvest. Heʼs a complex figure who is initially depicted as a chaotic and destructive force but later revered as a deity of love and marriage.

”There was once a snake with eight heads running rampant, only to be stopped by Susanoo wielding a powerful sword.”

Nathan was a bit skeptical about giving this name because of one reason. Susanoo might be a god, but his appearance was similar to that of a human.

From what he understood from the summoning system of this world, they could summon everything that looked humanoid but not human. However, he couldnʼt help but wonder if someone looked so much like a human. Would it be considered forbidden as well?

The Susanoo he knew had a big, muscular body. He looked like a middle-aged man with a beard. He wielded his sword and fought against Yamata-no-Orochi.

However, he remembered that Susanoo was like a giant. If that were true, the summoning would be possible.

Nathan scratched the back of his head. ”To be honest, I canʼt really say with confidence regarding the second option. However, you can also find a familiar youʼd like to summon.”

Noelle thought for a moment before nodding her head. ”I understand. Iʼll carefully consider the options.”

”Sure.” Nathan nodded with a smile. ”Well, Iʼll be going soon. You and the girls should take care.”

”Yes. Thank you, Nathan.” Noelle sneakily moved closer and gave a little kiss on his cheek.

”!!!” Nathan raised his eyebrows, but Noelle was so embarrassed that she ran away before Nathan could say anything.

”…” Nathan opened his mouth, but the words stuck in his throat. This time, Noelle acted without any influence, whether from Flora or her grandfather.

”Cute…” Nathan smiled helplessly. Unfortunately, that small happiness couldnʼt last long because Seraʼs voice suddenly echoed from behind.

”Nathan. Here you are.”

”Huh?” Nathan turned around and found Sera. ”Sera? Since when have you been here?”

”Just now. Well, I just came back.”

”Welcome back. You must be tired…”

Sera shook her head as if telling him there was another, more important matter.

”Is something wrong?” Nathan frowned.

Sera scratched the back of her head while looking away. ”I donʼt know how to say this… But the Pope has heard about the engagement. Since youʼre going to leave for a while, heʼd like to invite you to have a little chat.”

”Ah!” Nathan wondered when was the best time. Since the engagement was settled with both the Ashton family and the Ivorial family, he knew he had to settle the matter with the Holy Kingdom as well.

Nathan thought for a moment before nodding his head. ”Alright. Letʼs meet the Pope.”
