Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 958: Magic Principle

Evelyn sighed. ”Where were we again?”

”Two elements.”

”Ah, yes. Basically, itʼs a death sentence, but it doesnʼt seem to apply to a genius like you. Although I donʼt fully understand what an innate ability is, it must be something beyond oneʼs logic.

”Elysion Aquamoon is able to contract three Death Gods. Even though they carry the same thing, which is ʼdeath,ʼ they are still different gods. Thatʼs why his innate ability should be something to attract all kinds of deaths or something.

”And there was another innate ability user with multiple absolute elements. She might be able to form her own element source like yours, which allowed her to wield all those elements…”

Nathan nodded. ”Well, I donʼt really plan to attempt another element right now. While itʼs true that itʼs good to have multiple elements, you might end up not mastering them. Itʼs better to focus on my element first before even thinking about it.”

”Indeed.” Evelyn raised one finger. ”Now that you know where the element source originated, I believe itʼs become far easier to discuss magic.”

Nathan turned serious. This was what he came for.

”To put it simply, element source is what we used to control nature. In other words, magic is a method to control nature.

”Letʼs talk about a simpler example first. Letʼs use a fire user first.

”To light up a fire, you need to have the fuel, which is air. It will then burn the fuel and continue to burn until the fuel is exhausted. This much is easy, yes?”

”Yes.” Nathan nodded, confirming he was still following her. Of course, he couldnʼt help but add, ʼWell, itʼs not air, but oxygen, but itʼs fine.ʼ

”However, with magic, it makes the process simpler. You substitute everything with magic and ena.

”The ena will become the fuel, while the magic will be the lighter. So, pour your ena and activate your magic to create a spark, then boom, you get a fireball.

”To create that spark, you need something to create the spark that can form a fireball, meaning your element source should be a fire element source. The fuel and the magic have to be of the same element. This is why lightning magic canʼt produce a spark to light a fire, but they can do it if they have another ʼfuelʼ that can create a fire, such as wood.

”So, basically, a rare element will work the same way, but you first have to understand the principle of it.

”I have familiars beside me who can teach me the basics, but you donʼt.

”Actually, the reason I was a bit hesitant to teach you magic was due to this. It might look like I would be showing you the secret of my way of controlling magic, but itʼs more because you should ask your familiar about this.

”Thatʼs why I asked you whether you have an element source in your body or not. However, after inspecting your body, I realized your element source is more similar to that of a familiar than a human.

”As a result, you couldnʼt ask your familiar to teach you about time magic. To put it simply, you need to start from the beginning with no one helping you.

”I thought you asked me to teach you magic simply because you were too horny and wanted to use this chance to get closer to me, but I realized it wasnʼt the case.”

It was Nathanʼs turn to have his eyebrows twitched. ”What do you think of me? Do you think Iʼm such a horny guy?! Do you think I will do everything just to get closer to you?! I do a lot of things, but not everything.”

”So, you do…” Evelyn squinted her eyes.

”Well, Iʼm honest.” Nathan shrugged. ”However, I genuinely want to learn magic.”

Nathan couldnʼt help but wonder if this meant Evelyn couldnʼt help him as well. However, he wasnʼt entirely clueless.

While it was true that he wasnʼt highly educated, he still got some basic knowledge about time in school. Besides, there were other novels that mentioned time power or paradoxes. Although it might not be entirely true, it should hold some sort of truth.

Evelyn crossed her arms. ”Well, I do have one unique way to speed up that process. Researching the knowledge about your power will slow it down a lot, which has happened to me. So, I developed a certain technique to speed up that process. It might be a bit more dangerous, but this is the technique that allows me to survive from having two elements in my body.”

Nathan fell silent. ”May I know the basic magic first?”

”You seem to have a magic circle already, which is surprising. I guess you are able to use magic to a certain extent.”

”Yes.” Nathan nodded, confirming it. He had five magic, but it was the most basic one.

”Using magic is practically simple.” Evelyn pointed her hand at him. ”Weʼre experiencing gravity at this moment. By pouring my ena and activating my gathering magic…”

”!!!” Nathan felt his body extremely heavy, almost making him fall down.

”I increase the gravity on the area around your body, which will make you feel something is pressing you down.

”In that case, what is gathering magic? How do I come up with it? If you ask my familiar, the answer will be, ʼFrom reading the pattern of your magic.ʼ

”When you pour your ena, it has been influenced by your own element source. You definitely can sense the patterns of its flow, right?”

”To a certain extent, yes.” Nathan nodded. Although he couldnʼt see it, he noticed that the flow was different. Each person was different. He could feel it, but he didnʼt know what the difference was.

”I can sense the pattern of gravity, which I replicate or strengthen to create an even stronger gravity in that area. Or I flip the flower vertically to make the gravity flow to the side instead of down. This is the basic concept of magic.”
