Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 573: Sparring

Selena and Leyfon stood in front of each other.

Knowing how powerful Leyfon was, she planned to go all out from the start. However, there was a reason for Leyfon suggesting a spar.

Leyfon took a sneak glance to the left side of the training ground, seeing a pair of students who seemed to have just finished their training.

They couldnʼt help but notice the principal and the vice president of the student council in the arena. Obviously, they would be the first ones to see it and the rumor would start to spread.

All that was left was to match everything as Selena wanted.

”Come. Let me see what youʼve got.”

Selena nodded before releasing her ena.

The first thing she released was just a normal two ʼConcentrationʼ sweeping force, creating a wave that would swallow the principal.

Leyfon simply waved his hand, having his own sweeping force to push all that dust and wave to the side.

Once his vision became clear, Selena approached him with her avatar emerging behind her and punching him.

”…” Leyfon raised his hand, catching the avatarʼs fist with his bare hand. In fact, the energy contained inside that fist was dispersed on the ground, stopping Selena from turning this area into a crater. ”Nice punch, but not strong enough. From what Iʼve seen, youʼre planning to become strong enough to find your father, right? You need to grow stronger than this. This kind of punch wonʼt be enough to find your father.”

Selena didnʼt say anything, wondering if he was trying to taunt her. Nevertheless, she continued onward. The avatar behind her disappeared as if she wanted to end this in close combat.

Leyfon couldnʼt help but furrow his eyebrows. After all, challenging him in close combat was definitely the wrong move.

”Do you know why, even though you are fighting like a magician, you shouldnʼt actually rely on it on everything? Even if youʼre Flora, you still learn the basic hand-to-hand combat.”

”I know. Because I might get targeted by the enemies, who are willing to sacrifice everything to drag me down.”

”Exactly.” Leyfon raised his hand, planning to crush her, so she would learn this lesson thoroughly.

However, Selena abruptly stopped not far from him. She then waved her staff up as though she wanted to use her sweeping force.

To Leyfonʼs surprise, a pair of translucent hands emerged from the ground, trying to squeeze him.

”Interesting.” Leyfon used both of his hands to stop them.

Selena took advantage of this opportunity to charge triple Concentration and blasted him head-on.

”!!!” Leyfon slightly raised his eyebrows as the blast hit him, kicking up the dust on the ground.

Selena didnʼt lower her guard since her palms were still feeling Leyfon.

When the dust settled, she saw Leyfon standing in his position without even flinching.

”Hoh?” Leyfon noticed what kind of technique the previous attack was. ”You went one step further with that control?”

Selena nodded. ”I believe this is the way to surpass you.”

”Interesting. Thatʼs indeed something I canʼt do.” Leyfon smirked. ”After all, our method of computing the control is different. Mine is similar to your guy. We separate the thoughts into two to compute our power simultaneously.

”However, you are different. In the first place, youʼre computing everything inside your mind at a much faster speed than us. Thatʼs where your talent lies. As a result, youʼre able to insert three control techniques at the same time.

”Still, thereʼs one thing you are lacking right now. That alone wonʼt be enough to surpass me.”

Leyfon suddenly slipped past the avatarʼs hands and leaped toward her. He pushed his palm with two Concentration, which slightly surprised Selena.

But his speed was a tad too slow, allowing Selena to use all three Concentration to clash with this power.

Selena believed that she was still stronger if she assessed their powers correctly. Hence, she pushed forward her staff and blasted Leyfon. The latter punched forward, not only destroying her blast but also hitting her.

”Kh!” Selena gritted her teeth in shock. It felt like she was getting hit by a carriage before getting thrown to the arena wall.

Bam!

The bricks crumbled to the ground as Selena was planted against the wall. She struggled to get out while thinking about what had just happened.

Her power was definitely stronger, yet for some reason, she was being overpowered.

”I have to praise you for being able to come up with something clever. It suits you, but at the same time, in the midst of your pursuit of strength, you have forgotten something.

”I know how youʼre feeling. It must feel good to know that your new technique is working and powerful, but you shouldnʼt be too focused on the big power.

”Earlier, you should have realized that we used the same amount of power in each of our Concentration.

”Yet you had three of them while I only had two, so the question is… why did you lose?

”The answer is simple. At the last second, I twisted my hand a bit, creating a torrential flow of energy. In addition, I concentrated that power in the center, which allowed my energy to break apart your powerful energy from the center.

”You just need to have a single need first before opening it to a small hole and ultimately breaking it apart.

”All of this is the same technique, but a different level of mastery. Just like how the soldiers are swinging their swords hundreds, if not thousands, of times every day, we also have to do the same thing to refine our own technique.

”Focusing on every bit of detail and polishing it to the very limit are what differentiate between genius and monster.

”I have seen that you have created this technique and seem to master the control over it, but thatʼs it. I donʼt see a single trace of you making an effort toward polishing it further.

”As much as you hate it, remember that this little thing is the one that will save your life one day.

”Come again. I will beat the crap out of you today so that you learn about it.”

Selena gritted her teeth. She almost forgot that this guy was definitely a devil when it came to training. Even so, there would be a lot of things to learn in every single attack.

”Please give me your guidance.”
