Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 561: Familiar Classifications (Bonus)

”Everyone is working hard, huh?” Fenrir looked around while walking alongside Nathan.

”Yeah. Iʼm glad that everyone is working hard.”

”Why? Canʼt you just protect them?”

”Well…” Nathan rubbed his cheek. ”When I read novels, I often come to stories where the female leads are kind of left behind because they canʼt keep up. Some are fleshed out so much that itʼs a shame that they canʼt keep up and the authors just forget about them.

”After reading a lot of novels, I know I donʼt want such a relationship. Itʼs fortunate that theyʼre talented and are able to keep up.”

”Is that so?” Fenrir shrugged. ”I donʼt really care about it, though. As long as youʼre happy, thatʼs enough for me.”

”Ahaha. Anyway, itʼs time for us to learn more about knowledge that we donʼt receive from school.” Nathan glanced at Anubis. ”Your reward as well.”

”Hehehe. It is me who becomes the biggest winner.” Anubis smirked.

”This is not fair. Youʼre taking advantage of the situation.” Jinwu complained on Nathanʼ shoulder.

”Then, just become more useful.” Anubis snorted.

Jinwu and Fenrir were frustrated, but they couldnʼt do anything because Anubis had managed to get it first. If they forced Nathan to give more reward, he wouldnʼt have enough ena for himself.

”Anyway, where are we going? For you to summon all of us… except that lazy lizard.” Jinwu asked.

”This place.” Nathan pointed at the small house in front of him. It was the house for two people because most of the time, the familiar had to stay in this world as a researcher.

Nathan knocked on the door, which immediately got a reply.

”Who is it?”

”Itʼs Nathan. Do you have time?”

Charlotte opened the door and looked at the three familiars, wondering what Nathan wanted to do.

”Sure. I completed my work two days ago. If thereʼs nothing big, I will be here most of the time, continuing my research.”

Nathan nodded. ”There are a few topics that I want to ask. They havenʼt taught me in school, so I come to you.”

”Sure.” Charlotte opened the door wide while waving her hand down, telling him to enter.

Inside, she first made tea for Nathan and some snacks for the beasts. The house itself was small, but as expected of the house where two great minds resided. It was filled with scribbles.

”Sorry if the house is a bit messy.” While taking her seat, she asked, ”So, what do you want to know?”

”I actually want to know more about my beasts… I mean, my divine beasts, like their origins, locked skills, and other things. After testing the time element, I believe that knowledge has become the most important key to utilize my contract more efficiently.”

”Oh. I donʼt mind teaching you everything. Just let me see you using your contract and stuff. Iʼm curious about the innate ability as well. After all, Iʼm wondering if there are ranks for innate abilities or if the innate ability is a kind of divinity that a human can possess.”

Nathan agreed without hesitation. He thought it would be good to ask about the contract regarding Sasha as well. If he succeeded in raising Sashaʼs potential, he might be able to help other familiars as well.

”In that case, what do you think about divine beasts?” Nathan asked.

Charlotte contemplated for a moment before raising a finger. ”Before that, why do you think theyʼre classified as divine beasts? No. What do you think about the ranks of your familiars? Right now, the only way to differentiate the familiarʼs potential is to see their quality, right?

”When you think of it that way, I canʼt help but raise a question regarding the ranks for familiars.

”For example, a lot of people are furrowing their eyebrows upon low-level familiars like goblins, no?

”However, if you think about it, what about the evolution of those goblins? People are less likely to frown when they see a hobgoblin, no? What about a goblin champion? A goblin hero? Or even more powerful… a goblin king?

”When they reach such a level, donʼt you think a goblin is actually considered a mighty warrior? Not at the level of divine beasts, but I think you get the idea.

”Familiars like vampires can even become a legendary being like a progenitor or even a god?

”So, if you want to talk about divine beasts, what about their ranks? What is before a divine beast?”

Nathan widened his eyes in shock. The first question alone was already mind-blowing. He couldnʼt help but look at Fenrir and the others.

”Letʼs see… If I have to make a rank for beasts, it will be classified into four ranks: normal, urban legend, universal legend, and divine beasts.

”For normal rank, it will be a normal beast, like a tiger you can see in the forest. However, once it has done a lot of things, people will start an urban legend… like the protector or the terror of the mountain and such.

”Then, the next rank after that is a universal legend. Or should I say the worldʼs legend? They have become so famous that their legend is known to the entire world.

”The best example will be a great whale known as Moby Dick, or the giant octopus called Kraken, or even an extinct animal whose legend has been so twisted that its existence becomes a mix of normal animal, urban legend, or even a world legend like a great shark, Megalodon.

”However, one step further is a beast that is referred to by the people as a deity. They can be a local deity or even wandering gods. Either way, they are classified as divine beings like these guys behind me.”

Now that Nathan had been presented with such a question, he realized that not everything could be considered a god. Even Sun Wukong, who was considered to be equal or even stronger than gods and goddesses, was still seen as a demon instead of a god. At the same time, some sources also considered him as an evil deity.

Nevertheless, his understanding had become a bit more complex.

Charlotte smiled. ”Since you get the idea, letʼs delve deeper into this topic.”
