Test (Part 2)

This was like a mini internal combustion engine at first glance.

As long as the structure and materials were fine, a cylinder body the size of a fingernail could be made and operated successfully.

But when he reduced the nuclear fusion reactor to the size of a washing machine, he encountered a serious problem.

The Q.value would turn negative.

The fusion reaction was fine, as was everything else, but due to the limited size of the central chamber, the input and output were disproportionate. The key factor was the heating of the high-temperature plasma.

If the temperature wasn’t high enough, the fusion reaction would stop.

To maintain the temperature for fusion, continuous input was needed.

However, the energy input exceeded the energy produced by fusion, making it unfeasible.

The limit of thermonuclear fusion.

Tang Rui looked at the data on the screen and sighed helplessly.

He wanted to reduce the size of the fusion reactor to that of a rice cooker, but it seemed almost impossible.

Not that it couldn’t be done.

But even if it was, it would be pointless.

A fusion reactor that continuously consumes energy without output.

What use would it be?

Just as a decoration?

Tang Rui waved his hand, deleting the holographic projection of the fusion model.

Continuing to research miniaturization would be meaningless.

He now faced two choices.

One was to work on heavy nuclear fusion, and the other on cold nuclear fusion.

Both of these fusion methods were considered highly advanced, almost like science fiction.

The former could be used to build planetary engines while the latter could be used to build Iron Man-like armor.

Forget it.

He decided to put it aside for now; there was no rush to work on it.

“Red Lotus, connect to the temporary lunar base.

Tang Rui instructed Red Lotus, having not checked on the situation of his chicken, Wu Ji, for two days.

“Okay, Master.”

Swipe!

Connection established.

The holographic projection showed the interior of the temporary lunar base.

An astronaut was holding a chicken, shaking it.

“Brother Chicken, are you okay?”

“Brother Chicken, make some noise, don’t scare me.

“Brother Chicken…”

Seeing this scene, Tang Rui was baffled.

What happened again?

Two days ago, although Brother Chicken wasn’t as active as at the beginning, it was still normal.

How could it be dead just a day later?

-What happened? When did it die?” Tang Rui asked.

“Mr. Tang, Brother Chicken just collapsed suddenly.

“Was there anything unusual before?”

“Before… Oh, ten minutes ago, Brother Chicken suddenly got up and started hopping around, even crowing while jumping.

I was curious and came over to look, but didn’t see any problem and went back to work.

Then just now, Brother Chicken crowed for a long time, then became silent.

When I turned around, it was already lying on the ground.

After hearing this, Tang Rui frowned.

Nothing seemed unusual.

The only odd thing was the jumping and crowing.

That was normal when it first arrived.

But it had been four or five days; it shouldn’t be so active.

Was it a fleeting resurgence?

Tang Rui thought for a moment, then ended the video call and asked Red Lotus to pull up Brother Chicken’s data for review.

There were abnormalities in all the data, starting from the third day, just like the previous chicken.

But Brother Chicken died even sooner, more than a day earlier.

Just as Tang Rui was pondering how Brother Chicken died, the space command center sent a video request.

Tang Rui connected.

“Mr. Tang, the second chicken is also dead.”

“Yes, I know. I’m looking at its data. Do you have any ideas?

-After discussing the data of both chickens, we think they were exposed to intense radiation.”

“Radiation? Is there radiation exceeding safe levels at the temporary base?” “Well, theoretically, the radiation doesn’t exceed safe levels. But this calculation is based on the Earth’s magnetic field.

The Moon doesn’t have a magnetic field, so it’s hard to say whether the levels are safe there.”

The person in charge spoke seriously. They hadn’t considered this before because astronauts had only been as far as the space station, which is within Earth’s magnetic field, so it wasn’t a concern.

But this trip to the Moon was different.

Leaving Earth’s magnetic field meant the previously safe radiation levels could now be excessive.

“Are the people okay?”

After hearing this explanation, Tang Rui asked anxiously.

“We’re examining the astronauts who’ve been to the Moon.

No results yet, but based on the American astronauts who went to the Moon, they should be fine.”

“Let’s pause the lunar missions for now, and wait for the research results. We hadn’t considered this before.”

After hearing the rest, Tang Rui directly instructed.

“Okay, we were thinking the same.”

After ending the communication, Tang Rui immediately notified Gao Yang to return to Earth with his team.

They left their equipment on the Moon, as no one would steal it.

Once Gao Yang and He Yun returned, he had Red Lotus conduct a thorough scan of them using magnetic field control equipment.

The results showed no problems for either of them.

But still, Tang Rui had Gao Yang and He Yun undergo therapy using the equipment he had previously enhanced.

The next day, the space command center reported that of the eight astronauts who went to the Moon, seven were fine, but one had health issues.

Further investigation revealed that the affected astronaut’s main job was recording data and relaying instructions inside the temporary base.

Meaning, he didn’t go outside for tasks and stayed in the base.

Fortunately, they hadn’t been on the Moon for long, so the issue was minor and would soon recover.

The space command center could identify the problem because they had detailed models of astronaut health, with comprehensive data for comparison.

Magnetic fields!

Radiation!

Humanity was indeed lucky-if Earth didn’t have a magnetic field, or if it disappeared, human civilization would have been destroyed long ago.

This accidental discovery was a stroke of luck in misfortune.

Without a magnetic field on the Moon, establishing a base there would require considering artificial magnetic fields, preferably simulating Earth’s magnetic field.

This issue was not too difficult for Tang Rui, who had a magnetic field control system.

“Red Lotus, create a device that can simulate the Earth’s magnetic field, covering an area of ten square kilometers.

Tang Rui instructed Red Lotus.

“Okay, Master. Red Lotus is performing simulations… Calculation complete, starting production, estimated time needed is 3 hours and 51 minutes.” Once Red Lotus completed the device, they would test its effect by sending another chicken to the Moon.

But there was no rush-after all, the construction of the Guanghan Palace base on the Moon hadn’t started yet.

Arriving at the assembly workshop, Tang Rui examined the large orbital drop pod, preparing to test it.

Whether it’d be useful or not, only testing would tell.

This device was guaranteed to be safe, so there were no worries about problems.

“Brother Han, have the special forces team come over and receive the new equipment.” Tang Rui sent a message to Han Shu.

Soon after, Han Shu arrived at the mountain base with his team.

“Mr. Tang, is this the new equipment?” Han Shu asked upon seeing the twelve single-soldier tactical mobility armors.

■’Yes, these are the upgraded products. The functions are similar to the previous version, but both defense and mobility have been significantly improved, and a power-assist system has been added.”

Tang Rui had the twelve special forces team members suit up and move around indoors.

“Can this power armor fly?” Han Shu curiously asked.

“No,” Tang Rui shook his head.

Without solving the energy issue, a flying mobility armor was not possible.

“Let’s go outside and move around.”

Tang Rui, noticing the team members were hesitant to fully activate the armor’s power assist system, immediately took them outside.

“Okay, you can now fully activate the power assist system and experience the feeling of being a superhero.”

After hearing this, the team members activated the power system and tested running and jumping.

Boom, boom, boom…

Several team members jumped five meters high, landing with a thud on the ground.

Fortunately, the armor wasn’t very heavy, otherwise, they might have made holes in the ground.

After about half an hour of this, Tang Rui called a halt.

He then had them board the large orbital drop pod, ready for the first orbital drop test..
