tang rui arrived at the company in a vehicle from the forestry research institute.

upon reaching the company, he found lin chao and recounted yesterday’s events to him.

“wait for me while i make a phone call,” lin chao said.

lin chao listened attentively, his expression serious.

after he finished the call, he returned to tang rui and asked if he had any specific requirements for the vehicle.

“you want a car for me?” tang rui asked, surprised by the offer.

“yes, not only a car but also a bodyguard and a driver,” lin chao replied. “if you don’t want a bodyguard accompanying you, we can send a driver instead.”

lin chao inquired about tang rui’s preference, considering that some people didn’t like being followed by bodyguards.

tang rui didn’t really mind. he thought it wasn’t necessary to have so many people with him, especially since he was in his home country, not abroad. he only needed a bodyguard temporarily. once he settled his affairs, he would move to the mountainous area, where he wouldn’t be easily threatened. besides, his rv was almost ready, and he had accumulated enough experience points for an upgrade, thanks to his gatling gun. so, after some thought, he decided that a driver would suffice.

“i don’t really care about the vehicle itself, as long as it’s bulletproof. no need for a bodyguard; just a driver will do,” tang rui responded.

“alright, 1 understand,” lin chao said.

over an hour later, a bulletproof military off-road vehicle arrived at the company. it was painted in desert camouflage, and even the windshield had blast-resistant mesh.

tang rui couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at the sight. he had only requested a bulletproof vehicle, so he found the level of security a bit excessive. why not send an armored vehicle instead?

the vehicle’s door opened, and a tall man, at least 190 cm in height, stepped out.

“reporting, gao yang reporting,” he said, saluting lin chao.

“hello, gao yang. i’m lin chao. you will be responsible for driving comrade tang rui and ensuring his safety from now on,” lin chao said, returning the salute.

“yes, i promise to complete the mission,” gao yang replied, then turned to tang rui and asked, “please give me your instructions.”

“it’s alright, this isn’t the military, yang ge. you don’t have to be so formal. let’s relax a bit in private,” tang rui hurriedly waved his hand. he couldn’t handle such a formal atmosphere.

“alright,” gao yang nodded, although he still seemed somewhat reserved.

“yang ge, follow me,” lin chao said.

“okay.”

lin chao and gao yang went to the office, leaving tang rui to attend to his own matters.

in his laboratory, tang rui took out his gatling gun and initiated an upgrade. a faint glow flashed, and the upgrade was complete. there wasn’t much external change except for the repair of the gun barrel’s wear and tear.

[item: gatling heavy machine gun +1]

[experience: 3700/600 (upgradable)]

[origin points: 915.28]

tang rui glanced at the system panel and decided to upgrade it again without hesitation.

swish!

another upgrade completed. this time, there was no significant external change, but there must have been internal improvements that he couldn’t see.

checking the experience points, he saw that he could continue upgrading, so he clicked to upgrade again.

swish!

a blue light flashed, and this time, there was a slight change in the external appearance of the gatling gun. the gun barrel’s length had increased, and the motor’s size had decreased, giving it a more refined look.

apart from these changes, there weren’t any significant alterations. tang rui looked at the system panel again.

[item: rapid gatling heavy machine gun +3]

[experience: 1900/? (non-upgradable)]

[origin points: 915.28 (can be reinforced)]

indeed, it couldn’t be upgraded further. level 3 was a limit, and he needed to reinforce it to continue. tang rui had more than 900 origin points, so he decided to reinforce it immediately.

he chose to reinforce the gun barrel, gun body, accessories, and motor.

swish!

a blue light flashed, and the gatling gun’s reinforcement was completed. tang rui looked at the transformed gatling gun, now even more handsome than before. he decided to reinforce it further.

however, the experience points weren’t sufficient for another upgrade, so he opted for specialized reinforcement. fifteen origin points were instantly spent.

swish!

another blue light flashed. this time, the gatling gun had undergone a significant transformation.

[item: electromagnetic accelerated gatling heavy machine gun +3]

[experience: 1900/8200]

[reinforcement: gun barrel (specialized), gun body (specialized), accessories (specialized), motor (specialized)]

[attributes: rapid, armor-piercing, penetration, explosive]

[origin points: 898.28]

this upgrade had turned it into an electromagnetic accelerated weapon. however, it didn’t fire projectiles directly but still required ammunition. inside the gun barrel, there was an electromagnetic coil that accelerated the bullets when fired, increasing their kinetic energy. the exact increase in firepower was uncertain, but judging from the attributes on the system panel, it was undoubtedly powerful.

tang rui disassembled the newly reinforced gatling gun to examine the electromagnetic acceleration coil closely. he realized that instead of embedding wires into the gun barrel, they had turned the rifling into conductive coils. with the electromagnetic force, bullets not only accelerated but also didn’t cause wear and tear to the gun barrel.

impressed by the design, tang rui understood that the real innovation lay in the material of the gun barrel and the battery used. he had strengthened the battery in his previous laptop, making it more advanced than commercial batteries in terms of energy storage, charging speed, and safety. however, he didn’t intend to reveal this technology yet, as it was far more valuable than conventional firearms.

he decided to focus on his military-industrial projects and accumulate wealth. when the time came for an energy revolution, he would be in a dominant position. until then, he could always use his luan bird ii aerospace mothership to persuade anyone who disagreed with him, even his senior, zhang zhipeng.

tang rui stored the disassembled gatling gun in a box and proceeded to manufacture a new one. he needed two of them for his rv, and he wanted to make an extra one.

as he worked, his phone vibrated, and he saw that it was a call from senior zhang.

“hello, senior.”

“junior, i hope i’m not interrupting anything.”

“no, not at all. how’s everything on your end?”

“everything is going well. i’ve just set up the project team here, and all the equipment and personnel are in place. if you’re not too busy, i can send someone to collect the drone blueprints from you.”

“sure, i’m at the company now. you can send them over.”

zhang zhipeng called to obtain the blueprints for the drone. during his previous visit, he hadn’t brought the blueprints with him. now that he had a stable team and the drone project was ready, it was time to begin production.

tang rui returned to his office and had xiaoyi transfer the updated drone blueprints to a portable hard drive. these blueprints had been modified to eliminate previous flaws, mainly related to thermal expansion issues caused by differences in internal structure. as long as they had these blueprints, they could manufacture the drones directly.

an hour later, personnel from the military’s classified department arrived at the company. tang rui handed them the portable hard drive, and the rest of the process was out of his hands..
